- Here is a verse-by-verse tutorial of "How Great Thou Art." The music is a traditional Swedish melody and the words were written by Carl Boberg. For more information, check out my website, natalieraynesmusic.com. Subscribe to my channel so you'll never miss a video!
I came across this post by accident when I Googled “How great thou art tutorial”, it blows away my mind immediately. What a blessing that there are pianists like you dedicated in hymn playing and worshipping! After watching some other videos from your channel, I bought the Foundations in Hymn Playing Course today-can’t wait to get started!
I wish you had been around 30 years ago when I was a church pianist! You are fantastic and inspire me to get off the couch, pull out my hymnal and just play hymns to the Lord. Thank you!!
I know it's quite off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online ?
@Stetson Rodrigo Flixportal xD
@Salvador Ronald Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it!
@Stetson Rodrigo no problem xD
I’ve never thought to play to the text, what a wonderful suggestion! Changes the perspective totally, thank you!
This is a beautiful piano version! Thank you for sharing ❤
I'm a beginner and I love watching these kinda of videos it gives me so many ideas of what I can do. Thank you so much ❤
Literally, came on here to see if you could help me with this song!! 😅 Thank you!
Thank you for your tutorials.
50 years ago at the age of 8, I starting taking my first piano lessons. Loved it at first and even the few songs that I could play in the first 6 months/year, there was a lot of improvising, but it was frowned upon, because that was not what was how it was written in the lesson books. :-/
4 stringed and a couple of woodwind instruments several years later, the rusty key board fingers are arranging and stringing hymns together to tell stories. (Playing to the words, as I take different verses from different hymns to convey a message or a musical devotional)
Your tutorials have been a blessing!!
Oh I love it! I have worked this one over and over and I've just never been satisfied. I can't wait to get to my piano to try some of this. If I can get up my courage I will play it for my online service on Sunday for Easter. Thank you Natalie! God bless you.
I wish you were around but glad you are here now to show me how to play hymns with life! Thank you so so much
I love watching these tutorials! they are so easy to understand!
You explain so well
Natalie, I dont know whether to say you're talented or skillful, guess both, but I'm really blessed, thanks very much👏👏
Awesome and inspiring ! As a beginner who has started to relearn the piano after my retirement after dropping it for over 25 years, I hope I can play this grand hymn in my easy way, but incorporate your beautiful arrangement ! You have made me try hard ! Thanks so much for your sharing !
Wow. Vwry nice. Food for thought. Never thought to play it like this at all. Thank you.
Natalie has a great touch on the piano.
Beautiful! I love your tutorials. Thank you.

Love being able to see the keys!
I saw all your videos.. and I'm sure you're the best playing hymns on the piano.. I though if you have the midi file or partitura for sell? ( sorry my english is improving, I'm from Perú) God bless you so much.
Great...
This is more of a tutorial on expression, meant for more advanced pianists who have already have the skills to performs all these techniques. You're showing when and when not to use them to match the feeling of the text. Can you do some tutorials for lower-level pianists showing the various embellishments/techniques and how to execute them?
@@NatalieRaynesMusic Ok, thanks! I will check them out.
A tutorial of when we all get to heaven please 💕💕
Great job Ms. Natalie, I want to enroll in your tutorial class, how possible does that work?
Do you ever use chimes in place of runs up the scale (arpegios, as you call 'em)? High pitched chimes are so relaxing and contemplative of heart thankfulness...please try to peruse some where possible! Thank you...
wow i play the keyboard and nowhere near this sound comes out
Always wanted to learn this song but its so difficult as I am just a beginner. Maybe something more simple.
Hello Im enecito from Philippines.. Can you make a tutorial of the hymn "Dwelling in Beulah Land"?
Great
Even if,I tried to follow as you played I can't recognise which is you playing
Owesome
Can u tell what chords in how great thou art & if u can one r two note it in right hand i am a beginner learning how to play!!
Do you play a Cm at (son not) sparing? I’m following on guitar.
@@NatalieRaynesMusic thank you Natalie. I gave up piano as a 7 year old and I regret it. My wife bought me a keyboard a few years ago, but my grandkids have ‘borrowed’ it 😊. I may yet learn it again. You style is so beautiful and gives the song full body! God bless. Kerry.
I have that note but it's easy
I’m a note reader. Try as I might, whenever I do fill ins and improvise, they sound “corny”. I don’t sound like you at all. *sigh* 🙁
What's the name of your hymnal please and by who? Thanks
Too much preaching not enough demonstration..
You did nothing wrong Natalie. Your presentations, both speaking and demonstrations, are just awesome!!! Stay blessed.
@@ernestMdube Ah' I see why your mouth is so wide i:e you feel the need to insert your commentary concerning others opinions rather often.. and I should care how much what you think ?
