It’s funny because Mario kart definitely was inspired by Casiopea. The song “space road” 100% influenced rainbow road. The original MK came out not long after Casiopea too.

Dude this is so true. Midnight Rendezvous is one of my favorite Cassiopeia songs, but everybody just hears Mario Kart or Nintendo music. I showed a friend of mine one of Cassiopeia’s songs, “Swallow”, and they said , “Sounds like the groovy shi they play in Mario Kart 💀”

I mean, Casiopea has lots of songs that sound like a mario kart soundtrack, but that does not mean that they're a bad band or something. Actually, I think they wanted to give that impression with aesthetics, and idk, then people from nintendo just took them as an inspiration haha

It's because lots of composers of music for Nintendo took inspiration from J-Fusion bands of their time like this. For example, the original sound track for Mario was sampled from Sister Marian by T-Sqaure.
