Yeah, as a kid delivering newspapers in the winter, I can remember having to step up into the snow banks to avoid traffic as I walked along the road delivering newspapers... that sucked.
I dunno, I suppose it's something you get used to, living with snow in the winter. Just seems like a pain in the arse to me. In Feb of 01, I was in the U.S. for a holiday and I was driving to Bryce Canyon NP in Utah. When I arrived in Cedar City it was a bright and sunny day, not a snowflake in sight. Next morning there was two feet of snow and falling. I have no experience driving in snow but I was determined to see Bryce Canyon. I left the hotel as the snow was falling, wipers useless, can't see the damn road, I don't even know if I'm driving on the road. That's when the rectal clenching got critical and I figured I wasn't going to Bryce canyon. Did a u-turn and slowly headed back towards town but figured I didn't want to waste any vacation time so I decided to go Zion NP instead which was a lower altitude than Cedar City. The snow fall turned to drizzling rain the further south I got from Cedar City and ended up spending a nice day at Zion NP instead. So next time I'll visit the U.S. in autumn or spring. Like I said, I suppose you'd get used to living in winter snow conditions but for me, no thanks. In Oz we only get snow in the Alpine regions.
I realized I had watched every Mustie 1 video but I wanted more. So I started watching in reverse. He takes a good engine, messes it up, covers it in dirt and abandons it along the road. His speech sound like Swedish but the diabolical laugh is the same.
Holy crap , Im lost fer words , we havent got much snow this year but its bin dam cold , woke up to -33 , with wind chill -44 , I'll take the cold rather then 6 feet of snow , good luck , I hear yer getting more snow soon , Cheers from Heres
Great depiction of the pain we are all dealing with this winter.... Cool you could help the "boss lady" get to the clients homes... One word for winter 2014- 15, BRUTAL Stay warm & safe brother !
Okay mustie1 I take back all my earlier comments about how awesome snow is and I love the snow. I like it but not that much of it! That was insane man. I love the way your wife said they took the Tulane away so they could pahrk.) Lol...love that accent. My ex mother-in-law is from Boston and I love to hear her say that.
WOW, that is crazy, lol When you went down that street around 6 minutes in I saw one of those moving boxes hopefully those people don't think they're moving anytime soon, lol I was watching on a few videos they are worried about the hillsides in quite a few different places once the snow starts melting it's going to get bad.
I've never seen that much snow in my entire life, wow! The heaviest snow we ever got in the Dallas area was 10" and that was back in 2010, and that was enough to shut down everything. There is a large, very long hill heading east on I-20 on the south side of Dallas that had truckers stuck there for three days. They had no chance of getting up that hill. There are no snow plows here, and they don't put salt on the roads (sometimes just sand on an overpass or ramp), so you just have to wait for it to melt. Fortunately, it doesn't snow here very often.
That reminds me of the blizzard in the winter of 1978/1979 in northern Germany. Several meter high snowdrifts, within a few hours the temperature dropped by 20 ° C to -23 ° C
I have a smaller tent shed, made a tool to allow me to clear the snow off from inside. Took an 18" paint roller, Shoved a chunk of pvc into it Added a couple bearings and a crossbar, attached a handle and it allows me to go inside and start at the bottom, push up/out and the snow slides off. Just sort of bounce the tent as you work your way up. If you still have it this spring you can also use a long roller to apply a coat of 303 to the material. That stuff helps a lot. and it makes the snow slide better! Saw a mirror sticking out of one pile! That blower looks familiar, Local town has one like it. NOISY in the cab. You need to hunt up a Trackless or a Holder with a 4' blower on it.
NE is getting pounded this year. Good for the water table I suppose. We're looking at another 8" this weekend and temps -1º. Run out of room to put it, but it looks nice.
Yea man. I'm a few hours west of him in ny state and I always see our storms goin east and hitting them worse! Not only the snow, but it's been in the single digits or below zero for almost a month! We get a few breaks here and there, and the days usually go to 20 or 30. We need a good 7-8 days of over 32 temps !!
Wow . . . how can something so beautiful be so crippling and overwhelming. Lucky here in Michigan we only got 6" or so, but appreciate what you are going through. Hang in there, take care of yourselves . . . ;) Rog
For me, I like the change of seasons, all three of them. Might be exciting to see all of that white stuff and determine how much longer one can hang on before mentally cracking, but that is not for the ole' folks or faint of heart!
that is a mess, if we ever got that much white stuff down here in South Alabama, nothing would move for weeks.........two inches and all the schools close......GOOD LUCK
This is like......"For the horse of pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them" Exodus 15:19.
Man thats a crazy amount of snow. Makes me even more happy to be in the South!
Agree with that, don't need to shovel summer heat!
Yeah, as a kid delivering newspapers in the winter, I can remember having to step up into the snow banks to avoid traffic as I walked along the road delivering newspapers... that sucked.
Your video puts things more in perspective than the nightly news. It would be neat to know the figure on how many hidden cars the snow plows get!
2jeffs1 when the plow makes that metal on metal sound ,,your close
I must have missed it. Who's house were you clearing? Didn't look like your house.
