Rare & Unusual Jumps in Figure Skating

- A compilation of some of the least common jumps & jump combinations in figure skating!
This video only includes jumps that have been performed or at least attempted IN COMPETITION, so all of those crazy practice combos (like Alina's 3Lz+3Lo+3Lo+3Lo+3Lo+etc) don't count!

And the only one I know
I remember after hearing that Yuzu was attempting quad axels all I could think of was, "please please don't break your face you already had leg issues"
Honestly same. But I'm so proud of the things he has achieved. This is gonna sound weird, but I'm also proud of his physical issues/injuries because it shows just how much he's been working! I love him :)
@@nyxion2771 Yes, it is quite honorable that he is destroying his body for his audience.
@Erik A Are you an athlete? If not then you don't know anything. Not only Yuzu but all of the athletes. They want to challenge themselves and how far they could go to achieve what they want. They are fully aware of the outcome of getting hurt to achieve it. The only thing we can do is to appreciate and respect them.
@@takahiro5528 You don't have to be an athlete to understand the concept of destroying your body needlessly, you just have to be past the age of 25. Hanyu will regret what he has done when he's 40.
@Erik A I know what you meant but, our thinking is totally different from all athletes. Do you know the phrase ”pushing your limits”? Of course, they know the consequences of what they're doing but that what is an athlete for. They're pushing their limits to have a better outcome. They might be some consequences but Yuzu is already a legendary athlete. Don't, worry he will never regret anything. He is very aware of his health and continues taking care of himself. If he does regret it, he should not push his limits a long time ago. If all-athlete will be limited to what they supposed to be doing, the sporting world will be boring. The sporting world is evolving because of this athlete pushing their limits. And besides, they can retire anytime. That is why I admire and respect them.
I just wanna know who hurt Dimitriev to make him do such a cursed combo

I admire Yuzuru's ambitions in the last season. Pulling off a triple axel right after a quad toe, KNOWING that it will not give him that high of a base value due to it being a sequence, just because he simply wanted to do it. And being able to pull off a triple axel from practically at rest, would set him up for being able to do a quad axel in competition I bet.
A Bowl of Pho Yup, rumour has it that Yuzu has been landing the 4A in practice since last year but doesn’t think it’s ready for comp. I’m wondering if he’ll attempt it in the 19/20 season
Yep, surely do. Yuzu has once mentioned that his Quad Axel is at a state of halfway success. I await to witness the King's jump in 19-20 season.
@Heri try Planet Hanyu, there are a lot of videos, discussions and links there about figure skating. Even though it's devoted to Yuzuru, there are a lot videos of other skaters as well
Mandy W now we here with the 4A attempts
Indeed. I do see it as a pattern of gradually building his strength. And gotta remember that he did it in the second half of the programme. The man's method of programming his mental preparation and physical preparation... I cannot..

Quote: *"Anything is possible."*
Yuzuru: *Yes* intensifies
He takes the quote to another level. This man is crazy but in an admirable way
I once watched a documentary about competitive figure skating, and in the documentary it said that figure skating is the most beautiful and brutal sport there is. I mean, not only do you compete on cold, hard ice, you are also literally wearing a pair of blades on your feet and you move in an incredible speed and do dangerous jumps and turns and somehow try to land safely and beautifully amidst all of it..
It's beautiful, but very hard
Yuzuru's signature is easily his 4Lo
And his 3A
For me it's the way he looks so light in his every jumps. He looks like he floats for a bit.
The 4loz distance is always so crazy 💓💓
Socialiism and it’s gonna be his 4A soon
Definitely!!! But also his back counter 3A!
....oh, wait, don't forget his twizzle-3A-twizzle!!!
.......and his Hydroblade and Ina Bauer.....
.......or his 4T-3A......
.........and his Biellmann...
At this point, let's just say our man is too good at everything. Not to mention breaking world records!!! Ganbatte, Yuzuru-kun!!!! 😄
3:27 Yuzu is the only one crazy enough to land this😂
Hahaha, I love how Yuzu always has that "YESS!" hand pose after every successful jump (and quickly tried to hide it at 2:40)
Yuzu was SO CLOSE to landing the 4A in Beijing. His reaction when he learned that the judges acknowledged that he did indeed do the complete rotations was so emotional. To see him heartbroken made me heartbroken. Then when he was told his 4A was acknowledged and his spirit was lifted and said he’ll continue skating and try to perfect it… he’s so admirable and adorable and such a diamond of talent.
I'm still thinking he should've got a medal in Beijing. People actually did the math and compared the points with other skaters. He was underscored. Again. 😕
Yuzuru's Attempt led the way for Illia to land a clean, ratified 4A in competition at skate America later. Yuzuru pushed the sport forward to make it possible for 17 year old Illia to Make History
@@ExtraVictory I know. Yuzaru opened the door to a completely different world and he has to feel proud of that; being the one who started it all. When I saw Illia I was blown away and thinking of how Yuzu would’ve felt. He definitely has to be acknowledged in this. I was actually very surprised that none of the commentators brought up Yuzuru when Illia landed the 4A. Both of them will be legends and looked up to by everyone in the skating world for generations. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Illia, and I really hope to see Yuzaru on the ice again as a special guest performance or something during a big competition. I’d especially love to see him at the Olympics again, even if his skates don’t touch the ice.
This Video: triple lutz + triple flip is absolutely bonkers
Me, a nonskater: everything in this video is absolutely bonkers
Artur Dmitriev with his cursed combo and yolo 4A. What an absolute madman, I love him.

I love watching Yuzuru Hanyou's skating! Hes so beautiful and graceful, its like if he was flying on the ice.

Yuzuru Hanyu is still the best

*Y E S*
❤❤❤
Totally agree🤩🤩🤩
True.. Don't know what happen to my eyes.. He always looking more shine that others 🥺
I think Shoma's 3A euler triple flip is a unique combo too. Very difficult.
They really need to do something about Floops (flip off blade + forward takeoff) and Zloops (lutz of blade and forward takeoff). They should be treated the same as a F< e/Lz< e because takeoff from the blade is at last as bad, if not worse than wrong edge takeoff and the ISU tech videos say Flip and Lutz must be in the air by 1/4 so they're also under-rotated! They should add a b symbol for blade takeoff on edge jump!!!
And now Yuzuru and Nathan's 4T euler 3F!
Hanyu is ridiculously talented. He makes everything look so easy, and graceful as well.
"Yuzu is the only one crazy enough to try this in competition"

I won't be surprised if Yuzuru will be the first to do a Quintuple.
Idk whether to laugh or to worry coz that ain't impossible😁😁 srsly that guy attempts everything 😁😁
@@kn7969 and is amazing beautiful talented cute talented ×1000000000000000000
Ohh, I think I heard in the internet, Brian Orser said that Yuzu was on Harness jumping Quintuples, the one who holds the harness says they aren't even lifting Yuzu, they are just following Yuzu's movements.
Also Ghislain said that Yuzu was supposed to attempt 4A at Worlds 2020 but sadly the said competition was cancelled due to Pandemic.
Then Nationals happened at December 2020, Yuzu said he stopped training 4A during Pandemic, but as soon as the Nationals ends, he will let his body recover, then built it up again (building a body that withstands the 4A) with the right amount of training and then he'll jump it in a competition, changing the Free Skate with instead of Quad Loop as the first jump, it will be 4A.
I think Yuzu meant to build a stronger thighs that could jump extra 0.10cm into his already 0.70cm record of his 3A. I also observed that He has a nice new built up body (Very muscly than ever) during Nationals.
We need to talk about how perfectly 2:57 was timed with the music

BORN TO MAKE HISTORYY
Going back here to say that Yuzuru got a certified 4A. Yayyy!
😊
that‘s what I wanted to do hahahah
Without that jump by Yuzuru Illia probably wouldn't have.made history with the first clean 4A ratified in competition. They both pushed the sport forward, its a shame that Yuzuru's achievement has been a bit overshadowed now that Ilia landed a clean ratified 4A and is getting all the hype for being the first to land it ever, especially at just 17. Illia likely won't ever match what Yuzuru achieved but he will have the history of the first 4A in his back pocket
2:38 "both have continued to try the 4Lo unsuccessfully".
Me: until Hanyu was like "allow me to introduce myself"?
And sure enough, next clip shows he was the first one to land it cleanly xD

I hope he didnt get injured again 😣
Yuzu on the way to achieve full 4A
Well, finally, Yuzuru Hanyu tried at the Beijing Olympics 2022 and although he fell, it was certified 4A because he completed 4.5 revolutions landed then fell. Although, he placed just 4th, he was happy he accomplished and certified the 4A.
Rightfully so. Yuzuru making that jump pushed the sport forward, even though he fell and couldn't land it clean or get it ratified. But he did rotate 4.5x. I believe that helped Illia Malinin accomplish landing the first ratified clean 4A in competition
The delayed axel is my favorite rare jump.
A "good" delayed axel or even a great tuck axel is really preferable to seeing all these wild jumps here that are actually pretty commonplace.
Other people: This new jump will never be landed cleanly
Yuzuru: *Hold my cute fails*
Yuzuru is just beautiful perfection.
I love everyone appreciating Yuzu but let's not forget Shoma's TA + QT, that's damn hard!!!
You mean, 3A + 4T? Sorry, it's just using the letters instead of numbers can be confusing, so I wanted to clarify. 😂

Actually very few people know but back in 2015 Shoma landed a 4T-Euler-3F during a training session. The footage is only available on Facebook that I know & it was probably taken by his parents.

I dig the triple lutz-triple flip combo-that is incredible!!! Who would have thought to land the lutz like that???!! I hope others will try it and make it a thing... it’s fantastic!
I was expecting a euler in between, but no. He did a one-foot 3Lz and launched right into the 3F. Really digging that. That's fresh.
now yuzu mentioned about 4A in an interview and everyone is rattling SBDSBDHSJSJD we shall see it in Oly then
At 3:23 I was ready to scream cuz I know it's definitely gonna be yuzu, then shrieked because it's YUZU + LA VIE EN ROSE!!!!!!!!! OH MY GODDDDD!!!!!!what a win for a fanyu+wizone like me!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

This sport is poetry in movement.
All those loops, and everything looks extremely beautiful.
4A still has not been landed in competition sadly, but Yuzuru has come extremely close!! I can’t recall if he’s done so successfully in practice or not but he came close to landing it this year and if he keeps competing then I’m sure he’ll get it eventually in comp
Illia Malinin representing USA landed a clean ratified 4A in competition at Skate America. Everyone freaked out and gave him the hype of being the first to ever land it. Which, technically Yuzuru's 4A were only attempts and not clean or ratified. But still they both pushed the sport forward
