I love your reviews; you always have such a positive attitude and do a great job at explaining the microphone review.
The wind distortion noise might be the only deal breaker for me!

Solid. You were right. Huge difference between the front and back mics. I also noticed the dead cat was visible in a few shots. I am guessing that was the GoPro, but still worth noting for the run and gun folks.
What boom mic are you using? I am looking for a new one.

Thanks! Currently I’m using the Sennheiser MKE 600 paired with an Audient EVO4 audio interface. I like it a lot, I think it does a great job. I made a video about it here ua-cam.com/video/20itpQixlpw/v-deo.html
i’ve been fine-tuning it over the last month or so. I think I’ve got a better set up now then what’s in this video, but you’ll get the idea. Buy better I just mean different placement, getting the microphone closer to me and just had a frame.

@@JasonYadlovski - I saw the Sennheiser/EVO4 video. I wasn't sure if you were going with that setup full time now. It sounds really good.
Knowing that I do standing and talking to camera with a fair number of down shots, do you think that would be a good mic for me? I would be about 6' feet away.
In the alternative, I am thinking about a dual boom setup to get left and right channels separately. This would give me some moving around options. Thoughts?

Yeah, this is my full-time set up now. It’s really great in my studio since I don’t move around a whole lot. And when I do move around I use my wireless Lav or I can use the new shotgun mic.
6 feet away would probably be a little far for any mic if you want the best sound from it. You might sound a little distant and have a hollow sound. If that’s the case you may just want to go with a decent Wireless Lav. The closer you can get your microphone the better your audio will always sound. Even a good microphone will not sound great if you’re far away from it.
From your quick description and thinking about a good workflow, I think a wireless lav might be the best thing to go with. Then you have less thinking you don’t have multiple audio sources, etc. but I would not pick up a cheap one like the Road Go’s or the Voical air like I did a review on a while back, I would get a good quality one. Maybe a Sennheiser or even the road Filmmaker kit like I’ve got is pretty good. Just kind of thinking off the top of my head.

Hi Jason, thanks for this great video. I have a question if I may.. like an awful lot of us recently my wife and I have been doing a lot of Zoom chats with groups/friends etc. We've got a fairly good Webcam (I think) which is the Logitech HD Pro C920, but I still feel the audio could be better. I'm leaning towards the Blue Yeti Mic and was wondering what your opinion of this Mic was? .. We wouldn't be sat right up close to the Mic during our Zoom meetings, so I was wondering if it would still pick up our voices well enough. Thanks very much.

Hey Neil - thanks for checking out the video! The Blue yeti is an awesome mic, I used it for a long time. I’ve got a video on how to get the best sound out of it if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/NvfhsRSv4QE/v-deo.html
That said you will get the best sound from the mic if you are within a foot of it. The farther away you are the more ‘hallow’ it will sound, but it will still pick you up. You might want to look into a shotgun style mic where you can be a little farther away. I don’t know what your budget is but here’s a budget friendly one: ua-cam.com/video/8ZWINCWzheE/v-deo.html and here is what I’m using now if you really want to go all out. 😜 ua-cam.com/video/20itpQixlpw/v-deo.html
I’d say set your budget and get the best you can find in that range. The Yetis are awesome and you can’t go wrong there as long as it’s not real far away from you. Hope some of this helps! I’d be interested to hear what you decide on. 😁👍

@@JasonYadlovski Thank you Jason, for your swift reply! .. I will definitely check out the links you have sent me, more food for thought and I'm interested in the difference with the shotgun mic's now as well. Thank you so much.

60-day test! Certainly long enough to shake it out thoroughly. Just wondering: At 17:55± you say you can use the front mic, or the back & front mic, but not just the back mic. You think the back mic is lower performance than the front. So, if you want only the back mic but you can't, and it is not as good anyway, why not just turn the mic around on the camera (it is just a hot/cold shoe, right?) for when you want only a rear facing mic? Takes 10 seconds, you only want the one direction, and you get the best of the 2 mics aimed toward the rear. I guess the downside is, though, that your voice would sound as if it is mirrored, right to left instead of left to right- okay just kidding- I don't see a downside but maybe you know one. Thanks for a huge test & report effort on a $70 item... we hobbyists really appreciate that. ⭐x 5

I just got a new pc a few months ago, and just recently got resolve again and forgot to do the save file where it saves every 5 minutes! Long story short, I lost 1-3 hours of editing... Is there any way to get it back? I never selected the save backups yet.

🔴 Do the front and the back microphones record in separate audio tracks, so that they could be edited separately?

    • @JasonYadlovski
