Fantastic footage. I remember waiting by the main gate next to supporters club and getting in at half time for free. Try to sneak into the Abbey and being hoisted into the Habbin for being to small lol. They were awesome days. Great players and the fans sitting on the allotment end wall. Brilliant. Thanks for posting
Fantastic days and great a video. The main stand before it was extended. The cage still intact within the NRE. The Supporters Club bar on pitch side, United fans able to walk freely around all areas of the ground, swapping ends at half time. Fans sitting around the perimiter of the pitch! Those were the days!!
It was a lovely sight.... NOT a sad one..... GREAT day.... somewhere up in the stand is my dear Mum, now sadly deceased. But she came to many a match with me and we drank coffee & rum at half time. I remember seeing the ball bobble into the far corner of the goal, as Exeter threatened to dampen our party. But two near identical goals in quick succession were so surreal and hoisted us into Division 2 for the first time....!!!
Cambridge had quite a few good years, mainly when we were having bad ones.Think the commentator being harsh about the fans, that was all celebrations not hooliganism.Plus they had let them sit around the outside of the pitch. What did they expect??. Remember Alan Biley well, he went on to bigger clubs but i heard he liked his beer almost as much as scoring goals
Better late than never! I got it surreally on ebay via some geezer in Sweden! Still have the original DVD. I see you on the forum every now and again - nutsaboutamber. UIE
The great, brilliant days. REAL football. Not the overhyped money obsessed garbage of today. When kids were allowed to sit pitchside. What was the total attendance of this match? "We hate Argyle and we hate Argyle" lol, quality
1978. Shitty fans..."we hate Argyle". 2018. Shitty fans...."we still hate Argyle" lol. Great video, always had a soft spot for Cambridge United, proper little ground with a decent fanbase.

Great video, that was my favourite Exeter kit and many of my school boy heroes
my 1st united match - just about remember it. Thanks for putting this online.
Really enjoyed this.
The fans came on the pitch so quickly at the end. Surely the film was speeded up. If not, CUFC should have signed a few on.
