Only draw back is that when it is loaded and using it as a progress capture, it is diffiucult to release. I am using it for hauling. I have attached a string in the hole of the locking cam to give me some leverage to release tension. All in all, a very good tiny device and it does not get stucked on the brackets of aluminum trusses. My 12mm PP rope fits nice in it.

I add a string to the cam to help release easier.

But like a Shunt but easier to use; and if you need, a small pulley too.

Dose it affect the longevity of the rope..?

Great idea! Always looking to minimize my weight for Canyoneering! Trading my Hand Ascenders for these!

How do you use them as ascenders...? Mine won't grab on a tentioned rope...

Now you can self belay yourself up a rock face but how do you get down once you reach the top?

    • @LiveRogue

If you use this device to ascend you'll need to transition to a rappelling device, like in our very fist video. We will try to make a video showing how soon.

I would love to use something like this for my Olympic Ring training in case the buckles on the strap fails. What is the limit on that device?

Hi Ivan, looks like no one got back to you. It´s rated for 4 kN, or around 900 lbs; that´s the maximum including the shock load on the strap in a drop-swing dynamic movement. It is only built to handle 10 - 16 mm (3/8" - 5/8") straps though.

rope man 1 still way better if it was a true pulley it would be ok like a petzel traxion like the teeth same as ropeman in my opinion better than the sharp teeth on petzel old video but in case some one is still watching to do research

I myself use 2 W.C "Ropeman" and am very happy with them! The teeth are very gentle on the rope.. Previously used i Petzl "Tieblock" which in a short time destroyed the rope due to its sharp teeth
