Oh man, I watched this show every week in the 80s! I love that every second has been black ended like video tape! Now to watch Whiz Kids, Mr. Merlin, Bill Nye The Science Guy, Smurfs, And The Powers Of Matthew Star!!!! The 80s!!!!
thank you for bringing back the memories; an educational program from the early letterman era, lol. i used ideas from the show when teaching. #lovepeggyknapp ; )
What does Newton's Apple have in common with the late 80's/early 90's Saturday Night Live sketch "Sprockets" with Mike Myers as Dieter? Their theme songs were by the same composer, Kraftwerk, who composed "Ruckzuck" (Newton's Apple theme) and "Electric Cafe" (Sprockets).
When I was a little kid, my dad watched this show. It’s so interesting to see it now as an adult and see how basic it was, and even how incorrect. The stomach churching doesn’t come from the acceleration, but from the jerk, the change in acceleration. Constant acceleration would just feel like gravity, not too exciting or different from normal life. Centrifugal force comes from turning and tries to throw you out of the loop; centripetal force (from the cart) keeps you from flying out.
"the jerk" isn't a natural force, you are correct; a change in acceleration.. which is what they presented just fine. The "jerk" IS acceleration in whatever is being "jerked's" reference frame. In other words. +10 in acceleration in any reference frame would cause the "stomach drop." So yeah, it's acceleration.
With the latest advances in technology today, there might be more than enough for at least 2 new re-vamped seasons of Newton's Apple! It would be epic for du Pont to provide major funding for this show like they did back then.
Back when the TV cart was pushed into the class and we all knew it was Newton's Apple time!
🍎Wow!....Take me back to being a kid again! This was a favorite along with READING RAINBOW, and BEAKMAN'S WORLD.💖.
I remembered watching this program on television and it's educational.
At last, a proper episode complete with opening and closing credits, opening front caps, and closing PBS logos.
And shockingly, one I remember seeing as a kid!
This episode of "Newton's Apple" was the 7th season premiere episode which aired on October 14, 1989.

Just remembered this show. Thought it was called “Adams Apple” for some reason.
Thanks for this... Bringing back so many memories
