Love the new format where you show examples from cinema/tv shows for each. Gives you a better sense of how you should sound in a conversation. Thanks Grace, this is great content! 太棒了!:)
My family is Cantonese so I recognised that usage of 個. One of the ways I often heard it was 我沖個靚仔涼先, "just gonna take a handsome boy shower first". Maybe it's just nostalgia but I still find that amusing.
It's like there's a tendency in Chinese to avoid just saying one word for a phrase. So it's common to add another particles to make the phrase becoming two words. Like we don't just say "是", but say "是的", "是啊".
actually my mother language is Arabic I've been learning Chinese from your videos for a long time and it's really helped me...especially I'm married with a Chinese... I'm really thankful to you you are doing a great job 非常感谢 姐姐 love you from Algeria
Omg thank you for including clips from that show 🥺🥺🥺 as someone just diving into Chinese language/culture, coming across Put Your Head on my Shoulder was such a blessing and I was NOT prepared to like a show that I couldn’t properly understand that much lmaooo Glad to see it getting referenced here too
Another great video, thank you! Haha, someone at home has been saying shá 啥 and I could guess the meaning, but since we didn't usually use that expression, I guess they picked it up from reading books!
Your videos are incredibly approachable and understandable. It's amazing how much information is contained in your videos, without becoming hard to follow
Having taught in Taiwan for 5 years, I started teaching some little Northern China kids and was a bit shocked thinking that they were being rude to me by saying 啥 all the time 😆
One of your very best presentations! And as an American living in Taiwan for many years, I especially appreciate the distinction between what might or might be common on which side of The Straight. When you talked about the regional words, do you know if there's one particular region where they're used more (e.g. southern China, Beijing, Sichuan Province)? Or are they just scattered all over the place? Many thanks to one of my favorite channels! 謝謝你,願上帝保佑你 !
After watching your video lesson I was so impressed that I subscribed immediately. 😊👏A very good and important lesson, well presented, but sometimes hurried along too quickly, if I might say so!
Well most Singaporeans I knew back then did not speak much Mandarin. They spoke Singlish mostly. Some did speak Mandarin but not at the level that they can fully express themselves. Not sure if things have changed with more mainland Chinese moving there.
Hello😄, I really like your videos, all of them are very useful. I'm a language-fan, so a I decided to learn mandarin, but currently I don't really knew how to begin. I've heard about the HSK language books which can help, but many learners say that these don't contain such expressions and language elements which are used in real language. I want to learn the real language and not to prepare for HSK, so if you would suggest some sources and give me some instructions as a native speaker where to start I would thank to you🤠
Hii i'm new to Mandarin, i was searching for Chinese Keyboard and saw your video about how to type fast. And you showed Zhuyin, and it's so nice, i'm learning with your Zhuyin video i have a question: How can you guys read those Hanzi? like you put in your videos, the Pinyin and the Zhuyin the pronunciation, but how they teach you in school for you to be able to read it? like if you was in school when was a child, and a person was holding a conversation with other one, you would know how to write that conversation using the correct hanzi? because hanzi are so different from like pinyin and zhuyin, they are more hmm like write it differently, so i always wonder how Chineses and Taiwaneses can read Hanzi "if they only learn the sounds/pronunciation", if you see a 馬 without knowing this Hanzi, you would be able to read it? this what i wonder to know, how they can see a random hanzi and read it sorry for the long question, i hope you can understand (sorry for my english)
@@Carbuncle0168 Ik, but like for they, they are independent already, they don't need China anymore. but China don't accept that and keep saying that only have 1 China

As a Singaporean, I am pretty sure 啥 and 咋 isn't used in Singapore too, not just Taiwan.
身为新加坡人,我很少听到啥和咋,这里应该跟台湾一样不用。
