Hey thanks for the video. I was one of the guys that asked for a force construction video. It was very helpful.

Very informative video. Is this still relevant to the current 3.1 rules?

Wait so, it is a max of 7 units per group?
Since my list (340 TV) has 4 Grizzlies (2 Defender, 2 Crossbow), a pair of Chaingun Kodiaks and a Lightning Scimitar with Rotary Laser & Command and I more or less intend to have them all stick together to act in the front line, does this mean I'd have to make two separate groups for them since they'd have have a total of 10 actions, but my group of 5 Cheetahs (3 regular 1 strike 1 sniper), are fine in a group together?
I've got other units like 8 Hunters (4 Regular, 2 UC, 2 Assault) that could be split between two groups easily, just some things even though explained really well still seem a bit in the air to me.
The other thing is how do duelists change the base unit before upgrades, like if I take the L-Scimitar in the force and turn it into a duelist does that affect the TV of it or is it the upgrades that do that?

Good video, thank you for taking the time to explain things.
I was looking around for the Arbelestier but couldn’t find it. Where did you get it?

It's from the last kickoff and hasn't hit regular retail just yet. Nick got his with his KS pledge. The rules are available on the dp9 forums and will appear in the 3.0 rules

I appreciate the video, I really do. But I must say that it simply underlines why I have such a strong dislike for the current rules. It shouldn't take you 20-odd minutes to explain how to do an army of a dozen models.
The rules aren't just badly written, they're also overly complicated.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. The Force Construction rules really aren’t that complicated, compared to many games that Nick and I have both played. but when you want to make a video explaining something, it often takes longer than it would to read it. When you are trying to explain a concept in a video you have to take the time to cover many different things. It is much like a lesson plan for a teacher. You want to make sure that what you are explaining is understood by many different people who process things differently.
I could explain the basics of the force construction rules in a couple of minutes without models or a force construction sheet, but that is not how everyone comprehends information. -David-

Nick here, couple things. First this was not scirpted, if I had a script I think its 7-8 minutes of rules and remember that I was talking through it, in detail, not building it (honestly blitz armies build about as fast as 40k armies do for me). Second, I don’t disagree that army construction is a bit complicated but most of that is due to the flexibility and options which doesn't bother me too much since it serves a purpose. With no set squads or prebuilt units to pick from you need rules to describe how to build them. It would take me 20+ minutes to describe how to build a 40k deathwatch army (same basic concept, no real set units, lots of options) for similar reasons. I also don’t think the rest of the rules are especially complicated in 3.0, they did a good job on fixing as much of that as possible, ewar for example went from some arcane mechanic to really easy. There is still room for improvement (terrain) but 2.0 was abysmal
