    The style of the documentary reminds me of the Hong Kong MTR "Underground Iron". Such a nostalgic throwback to the 1980's.

    Unfortunately these 1st generation trains are now slowly being retired out of service and are currently being sent for scrap right now.

    Back when the construction of MRT lines finished way ahead of schedule...Unlike now, where every single opening of a new section since the CCL were/ will be delayed...

      There was a reason for that.
      Remember the nicolle highway collaspe?
      Ever since that incident, it will take a longer time of 4-5 years to complete a stage unlike last time.
      The disaster changed the way we built. Propably alot red tapes that needs to go through.
      We are more slow and cautious and need to check and accertain that things are built safely

      But NEL is entirely underground, so it is still not unsightly. However maintenance of overhead cables is difficult and costs much more than 3rd rail...

      Haven’t they all but eliminated train drivers on the SMRT? I thought all trains were driverless by now...

      @@paulsz6194 Hi, all MRT Lines are now driverless with signalling upgrades since around 2018 I believe, though they still keep train captains onboard the North-South and East-West lines for redundancy.
