I just finished his book about a week ago and I felt something in me and my world view shifted as well. There's no one else that has quite made me think about things from various perspectives as he did.
Just stumbled on this interview now, this is one of the best if not the best of Trevor Noah interview ever. You will always learn a thing or two whenever Trevor speaks , the passion and honesty speaks volumes about him. I haven't read your book and am dying to do so. Few things in my bucket list is seeing your show in person and reading your book someday. You are an inspiration Trevor , never forget that.
You're never too old to learn, I am 69 and I have gained so much wisdom from these two people, maybe half my age, I love listening to Trevor speak, I learn something new from him every time I watch his videos. May God continue to bless you bountifully with knowledge.
angie buckles I think because she truly understands where he came from others can guess even the food they are talking about I had to text my dad I had no clue
What a beautiful interview and I believe because you are friends that it added distinct texture to the interview. I cannot wait to get the book Trevor. I like how you cannot be coerced into say what they think that you should say. Or that they want to hear you say. You're very clear on the points that you have learned about yourself in life and you articulated very poignantly when you need to. Thank you Trevor for being you and insist on being you and I know that you will. Know that I I will be looking to purchase your butt and I feel like I'm going to enjoy it and I thank you for writing it even before I read it.
Wow. I'm a 37 year young south african woman. whenever this man speaks about how he grew up, i feel as if he's telling my own story which i couldn't really put into words. MUCH RESPECT.
I come from a humble background too. But even now as a qualified Nigerian lawyer, I can relate to his every experiences. Thrust at leadership roles as more or less, a pauper in the midst of princes and princesses, I saw the bounty in nothingness and vice versa. Finding "peace in the void" is always rewarding. You know why? Because everything we have was made from nothing. No one and nothing can make you happy, if you don't have the happiness in you. So, you have to cultivate some of it. You cultivate all you've got at present. That way, you never graduate to pompousness, because, you reckon that nothing lasts forever and nothing you've got is truly and entirely yours. He sold CD's and was a taxi driver? Wow! I hawked the local "fufu", vegetables (door-to-door), and dried fish, plus, 6 years working before attending a university at 23. I've always been super-courageous but I feel more encouraged guys.Great discourse, Trevor and Anele!
So proud of your determination. I had a similar background, and now I want for nothing! To God be the glory for giving me the stamina to see and believe the possibilities.
SA interviews are so much less pressumptious than the American ones. You actually heard Trevor. I'm so glad he is in America. It's time the world saw his genius!!!
Trevor Noah is very informative & insightful since his comedy resonates what is happening in real life. His approach is unique & has put Africa in the map. Big up TN & stick to ur game
Watching this now, March 22, 2023. I miss Trevor Noah on the Daily Show. He came in like a breath of fresh air. I don't think anyone will be able to replace him. Maybe Wanda Sykes for a few weeks.
This interview touched me so much. I can relate to Trevor and he gives me hope and courage. You can really be happy from nothing, That's why materialistic things don't phase me, because the way I grew up was hard and in as much as it was painful- it has brought me so much peace and I see the world for what it is. I want to do more of what makes me happy and not focus on accumulating wealth. It's just so awesome having someone to relate to, not have expectations on how people should react to your success per say, but to just want to do well. Living on your terms and not what the society thinks. 😊
This Man Has A BEAUTIFUL SOUL ! Such an honor to hear him share his honesty & wisdom & wonderful sense of humor. I would love to meet him some day. With his experience of "Born a Crime" - it gives him such a unique & refreshing perspective on race & racism. Thank you for continuing the conversation that abuse - whether physical or sexual - that the shame belongs to the abuser - not the abused - that is a conversation that needs to grow & flourish in this generation & for all the generations to come. Your Mum ( what an amazing gift !) REALLY Raised You Right ~ within Unimaginable Circumstances - which makes it ALL the more beautiful ! P.S ~ Love to hear you speaking your own Xhosa language ~ music to my ears.
Real talk for sure...I believe people like Trevor heal the World. It's not easy but he chooses to do it every day. He's brings a very powerful message to us doing what he loves to do....and his accents are funny as hell 😊
I am so happy about you addressing the numbers issue. It irks me so much that people pick fun of Jacob Zuma struggling to read numbers that have been written in numbers rather than words in a language that is not his mother tongue.
I have always enjoyed Trevor SO MUCH. I loved this interview for showing us the more vulnerable and REAL Trevor that most South Africans don't know. What a wise man!
What fun to watch this interview - two friends talking who worked their way up - 6 years or more after it was done. Born a Crime was one of the first books that I listened to on audio -- and I loved it, especially because Trevor read it himself. It came alive for me. I work in a library, and I frequently recommend it to people, both the audio and paper versions.
Tjoo.... when did you become so smart mara Trevor. Your way of looking at things is just amazing. Love, Happiness, Politics, Domestic abuse. My way of looking at these matters has certainly shifted.
He is a Buddha by definition. It sounded like He was about to say 'hoping holds you back.' And it does, hope isn't action! Action requires, observation understanding and choice making. A process bypassed with hope. But he didn't say it and that is awesome! Hes great!
This is just a conversation between friends, but Trevor is able to spit some wisdom pearls here and there. Wow. Anele and Trevor are in the same friend circle, and it's nice to see them talking in relax.
wow... this was one of the most amazing exciting, inspirational, motivational and i don't know but best interview I've watched,... Anele is amazing, I love you and love your show and Trevor is WOW, such a role model, young people can learn a lot from you, I'm inspired...
yoh the way this interview just made me cry when he talked about lucky star ....like do you understand the level of success this guy has reached yet his story is so familiar to a majority of South African and actually Africans in general.
By far with little to no comparison Trevor N is liberating the liberators. Always on point! Thank you Trevor for raising the consciousness of the public about the hypocrisy that we eat sleep and breathe every single day. You are a breath of fresh air, Africana.
Gee he is actually 8 years older than me but the achievement I'm still struggling with my degree. he is such an inspiration what a great show thanks Anele love her as well.
All this wisdom coming from him, is from his mother's prayers to God, it's either that or God just did it Himself. Hey I tell you we are nothing without Him.
I did not know this side of Trevor its so amazing how we associate who people are with what they do..thinking that even in life he doesn't take anything seriously. Wow truly mind unlocking and inspiring. Thanks Trev!
This was a great interview. Obviously being friends this interview was much more relaxed. But Trevor was on point with his answers and insightful, and the questions were holistic and thought provoking. Well done.
This was an amazing interview, the question ask and the answers are even more interesting, it makes you sit back and reflect your your own self and life, it makes you check the things you've done and said past and present 😍😍😍
This was the best interview i watched in a long time. They were moments I had to pause the video just to comprehend what Trevor said. Trevor is just brilliant
Oh my wow! I was doing a professional assignment and listening in. Amazing interview Anele. Thank you. We even got more insight on Mr. Noah. Amazing book. I have the audio through audible. Well done Trevor.
Anele, you asked very good questions that allowed me to see Trevor aka 'DJ Pretty Boy' aka 'Uber' as the person and the friend he is to you, and not just as a public figure and a comedian we know him to be. This was very enjoyable and informative. Tqvm Adele and Trevor.
I have a great respect forTrevor Noah. Good on you Trevor. You speak with such accuracy. Thank you always be yourself. I feel proud of you and you make me proud that you have the courage to be you.
This was the most delightful interview. The jewel of this interview starts at 42mins to the very charming end...My favorites were the topic of "what is political?"...and the delicious topic of "what it is to choose happy". Thank you. Thank you. Anele and Trevor.
Wow,I just discover the Daily show with Trevor Noah, well it was not a mistake because I've learned so much from this young man life,I've been inspired ,I've seen where I am lacking,I am planning to push my self forward. I can say this is one of the best interview that I have seen of him speaking with that strong accent,I guess when we're with friends out chemistry changes, because of the love we've for each other, great work Anele.
"Happeness is a choice" making an example about township kids playing from nothing but still being very happy is true. The way we were happy we even forget that we're poor. Growing up changed that cause all we really care about is getting more money, Whereas its still the same taking a chance by doing what you love, being happy and constantly seeking the next level can get you places.🙌
Profound testimony...falling in love is life itself...go ahead fall in life; if it doesn't work out, stand up dust yourself and fall in love again...I concur little Noah is a must...none negotiable. Thank you for sharing and stay blessed.
I can't love this interview enough. LOVE his thoughts on happiness. I will have to find some underhanded way to make my 16-year old stepson watch this.

Anele is the best presenter and interviewer ever in South Africa. To me she's the one holding the crown right now👑❤️🔥💯
Wow, Trevor just changed my way of thinking, like state of mind how I looked at life. Truly an inspiring person.

Samuel Mahlangu read his book Born a Crime. Awesome!
I just finished his book about a week ago and I felt something in me and my world view shifted as well. There's no one else that has quite made me think about things from various perspectives as he did.
He did change my life too, made me look at things and myself differently
No lie this is one of the best interviews I have witnessed.
I second that.

Their friendship definitely made this interview 10x more interesting than any interview he's ever done. What a treat! 🍬🍬

Trevor sorry for the misprint I should have read it before I sent it you know I meant to say the word book not the word butt LOL
I found myself nodding throughout this interview, Trevor could be a very good motivational speaker. I'm even a bigger fan after this interview
this comment made me dummer.
Wow. I'm a 37 year young south african woman. whenever this man speaks about how he grew up, i feel as if he's telling my own story which i couldn't really put into words. MUCH RESPECT.
Exactly how I feel always. He is so wise and so gifted. So proud of him.

"I only ever known how to be an outsider", that hit home with me!
That is one of my favourite interviews EVER!
I love that his accent is so much thicker when he is talking to a fellow African.
That's how it is with all Africans I do that all the time when I'm around fellow Ghanaians

Wow,I just discover the Daily show with Trevor Noah, well it was not a mistake because I've learned so much from this young man life,I've been inspired ,I've seen where I am lacking,I am planning to push my self forward. I loved the book!!! I found the part about Domestic Violence touching and to hear his view about DV makes me respect him even more.
But don't confuse happiness with joy. Happiness is fleeting. Puppies make me happy. Joy is a state of being. I am forever in a state of joy.
Am here 7yrs later
"Happeness is a choice" making an example about township kids playing from nothing but still being very happy is true. The way we were happy we even forget that we're poor. Growing up changed that cause all we really care about is getting more money, Whereas its still the same taking a chance by doing what you love, being happy and constantly seeking the next level can get you places.🙌
Profound testimony...falling in love is life itself...go ahead fall in life; if it doesn't work out, stand up dust yourself and fall in love again...I concur little Noah is a must...none negotiable. Thank you for sharing and stay blessed.
The similarities between SA and Jamaica are almost mind blowing. Everytime I hear it, it's like I'm shocked all over again 😂
he epitomises the line in the Labi Siffrrii number 'something inside so strong.' that says "...my light will shine so brightly it will blind you!"
It's so refreshing hearing someone like Trevor say that he doesn't understand why people have kids.
Loved this interview, Anele great questions selection and thank you Trevor for the honest.
Never knew Trevor was this deep. So much wisdom, humility....
I can't love this interview enough. LOVE his thoughts on happiness. I will have to find some underhanded way to make my 16-year old stepson watch this.
Lol, before I carry on watching I just wanna say I'm at that place too now where my parents are asking for grandkids and I'm like, my whole life you guys told me to stay away from boys, and now at 23 I'm apparently getting too old to be childless...such a confusing time.
this interview is deep, too deep. I'm truly inspired .
This is the best interview I have ever seen ❤️
Such a fan of both these beauties!
Its awesome to see someone who actually knows you and can share moments like this. I am a pretty good judge of character and I know I am right about him. He has an IT quality that so authentic.
