Hi Birds Eye View, im Ben. Matt was my dad and so when he passed he left the youtube account to me. UA-cam closed the account for some unknown reason but after a few phone calls we got it back. This was his favourite thing to do. He loved sharing his videos and promoting Gliding and i am so happy that i can keep it open, not just for my sake but for people who enjoy looking at his videos. Thank you
@@FruitBasket696 thank you for this. Your Father has inspired me to take on gliding even in spite of what happened. Thank you so much for keeping this alive. In doing so you've kept what inspires other alive. Your dad is profoundly proud of you. Take care Sir.
@@FruitBasket696 Hi Benjamin, thank you so much for keeping this channel up. I´ve met your father and his bunch once when I was with UPS. It was the time when things started to go south at MK. It was much later that I learned that he was the guy who made all these incredibly fine aviation videos. He will not be forgotten. Best wishes from DE.
@@FruitBasket696 Ben, your father's name and videos live on right around the world as an inspiration to glider pilots and other - even in the Antipodes. Thank you.

Last Decemer my 85 yr old Uncle with over 3500 hrs in Sailplanes fell ill ,he moved in with me for a time before passing. I showed him Matt's videos ...He had'nt flown for years but his face lit up spending time watching many a Balleka video, Like to think the're sharing a thermal somewwhere. I'm sure his life touched many a person,I know I've shared them with many freinds. RIP
An exceptional promotion for a club that started you down this path of adventure. It is really nice of you to give back so unselfishly to your mentors. The club could not possibly pay for a video that shows their operation in this fine of a light. Thanks, Matt. We need (and have) many more like you in this glorious sport. We join for the soaring and stay for the people...
I'm now so sad.. Thanks for all ! You shared and you are still sharing everything that makes me mad about gliding or flying. You were a man full of life. I'm still loving your smile at each flight, every "whaoo" you say when the sky is beautiful or the lightning awesome. You are now one of my reason to glide, I will keep you in my head and i'll chasing you threw the clouds now. Have the best lift you can have now and enjoy your new life there. I will miss you.
Nice video - love the drone footage. Nice editing. I was dreaming of flight/flying - ridge/Terma/wave stuff - not just T/o and land. Nice vid though. Perhaps combine in next vid?
I had my first solo at that field, North Hill. I would cycle miles and take the train to get there and then cycle up from Honiton, push gliders around all day, sleep in a glider trailer, and do it all again the next day, just for three 4 minute flights each day. I had burned to fly since the age of five and soloed at 17. I even named my son after a guy I had one of my best ever flights with. I now fly an RV-8 and love every second. The shear capability of it gives me the closest thing to the freedom I felt when I was gliding.
Balleka it almost didn't happen because of low ceilings and potential rain, but we ended up getting towed to 8000 feet with broken clouds and sunshine. It was awesome! The clouds everywhere looked like heaven as we glided over and under. One of my best flying experiences. I'll be starting consistent lessons in March. Thanks for asking!
I've a video from my first gliding experience on my channel, it's watching your videos and others like it that has given me the nudge to give it a try!
Sometimes I come back to this video when I'm feeling down and for some reason, it makes me feel good. Thanks Matt :)

Cool Pawnee
Wish he could've been a little unselfish towards staying alive for his loved ones.
LOL
Pretty good video, except for the overly cheesy/intense quotes
They seem rather poignant actually considering he died in a crash not long after making this video.
RIP Matt
