I am a Muslim and I was not offended... show brilliantly managed to stay neutral plus kept people guessing..... it did not hurt any sentiment.. its a fantasy... they tried to predict how an event "con or not" might affect the world........... just enjoy the show don't think too much......
Zahidul Amin I’m a Christian and thought the same thing. I see it purely as fantasy and nothing more.
I feel that this is exactly how the messiah would be greeted by society. As much as each religion waits for he or she to arrive if they did we wouldn’t believe. I thoroughly enjoyed this show!
You are both going to be deceived by thinking this way.
I'm not Muslim but have just read through a bunch of comments on the trailer from people who hadn't seen it yet. So, I'm curious whether you thought he was supposed to be Dajjat or Mahdi or something else entirely?
boggers after comparing the book of revelation and the hadith. They both conclude that the mahdi and the islamic jesus are the antichrist and the false prophet. I believe the bible more because it reveals satan's final schemes to deceive the nations.
I'm catholic and love this series, I don't know why people always have to take things so harsh and literal 😥😥 really hoping they give us season 2!! 🤞🤞
as an athiest i found myself far more interested in the story than i expected to be
Same. I think it's because at its core its questioning logic and belief systems, which is what religion relies on. But the most major element is in fact the psychology of humans, how that can be exploited and manipulated which is the biggest message of all. For me watching the show unfold confirmed all of my reasonings for not being able to believe in any religion or God. I think this show caters to everyone, those from differing faiths, those questioning religion and those that don't believe in any of it. It is very thought provoking, I just hope they don't drag it out season after season year after year.
I don't know how someone could be offended by this. I'm a Muslim, and even I didn't get offended by this. It basically told a story which was already told to us. The end does make me question whether he was or wasn't the false messiah.

I'm confirmed he is the Dajjal, also he came out first with godly power, so he should be it. Season two should see him building empire..
If he is a messiah, he cannot do magic things like resurrecting people.
Hariyanto Agung Prasetyo dajjal is not fully human
I binge watch this in one day.
I really like the way they deliver the message in the show.
And also people remember that he never say he was the messiah . people just assumed because how he act. Anyway was really interesting.
I can't wait for more.😊😊😊😍😍
I did too
You are right, he never claimed to be the Messiah.
@@hipking23 i know right, he just say that he is God messenger.
He said am ilah means god and an other time he said he is the word so still good shaw
He did say he was the word though while being interrogated by the Israeli police character.Of course the policeman being of Jewish religious background and not christian wouldn't have known that the word could be interpreted as the Word, who in the bible (New Testament) is in reference to Jesus (who Christians believe is the Messiah).I think he purposely revealed himself as the word or the Word (a biblical reference for Jesus) to a Jewish person and thus concealing his identity, instead of directly calling himself the Messiah, the name that
would make sense to someone of a Jewish faith background.
I love how well this series throws in enough seemingly impossible stuff to really keep you thinking "is this guy the messiah?" And then throws in plausible ways to deny he's the messiah.
US writers are doing that stretchy gimnastic with our brains since long. Is good is evil is good is evil. They can write and rewrite the story as long as it fits the needs of producers. Nevertheless needless to say, for any brain capable human being this stretchy brainy gimnastic is not well perceived.
@@nikoulph I think this is the best approach they could have went to, if they make it a narrative where they tell you if he is the messiah or not, that would hurt the series and then those hostile people would have more fuel, the fact that it is ambiguous and doesn't choose anything side but let the watcher decide what to believe is the best approach possible.
People like you criticize series, but my question is, do you have a better way to write this series. Because imo this is the best way to do it, no one likes a series that shove any sort of narrative down anyone throat.
I love and I binged watch the entire ten episodes. I too love the fact that they showed him doing miracles but threw in a lot of things to disapprove that he was not a messiah. Things like his brother, uncle having a messiah complex, having James Randal disapproving him walking on water. For those of you who do not know who Randall is, he is a guy that goes around disapproving anyone who claims to have magical powers. He does so by offering them a million dollars if they can perform any psychic abilities but the catch they have to do in a control circumstance.
Check out a video of him disapproving a magician who claims he can move a pencil with his mind
ua-cam.com/video/7CASghTzNhc/v-deo.html
I also love the fact that they never showed us healing that girl by him using a glowing hand. That would have been too obvious but they did show the fact that when she had so much energy such as when she was running around with the dog only for her husband to reply that what happens when you stop the chemo because you left with energy.
Like the creator of this video, I wanted to know if he was real or fake and ending proves it. There is no denying the ending. No one can survive a plane crash unscathed and bring back two people. People are saying that he is the anti-christ and his disciple is the second-coming because he survived the suicide bomb but I guess since he is his disciple he might have protected him just like he reached out and told him to stand which boy did before going naked.
Please make season 2 and I was not offended
If you paid attention. He technically gave us hints through out the show . talking to the president asked about bringing 100 years of world peace. Called him self the eye. He is the antichrist. The dejjal whatever you call the flase prophet.
He can't be the Messiah. He is either a con artist or the antichrist.
Jesus himself DID say there'd be false prophets and THE false messiah, as well as warning us not to go to whoever says "look, there he is!". an interesting concept if I do say so myself.
In islam we call it " al dajal " which means the antichrist! i think that's what he was in the series like not a hoax but also not the Messiah
@@haytem3787 the great thing about the show is there are so many ways of interpreting it and that it will all depend on the person viewing it. Some one else will watch this show and come to a different conclusion at the end.
@@Welsh_Dragon756 what I really like about the show is that it promotes conversations like this! I'm not religious but it is good to see Christians and Muslims discussing religion together without being at each other's throats. I think that is a huge victory for this show, and I hope that it's what they set out to achieve by making a character that blurs the lines between several religious prophecies and contrasts it all with a healthy dose of scepticism.
Gavin Jones yes I agree with you. I haven’t heard anyone mention this character not having any marks on his hands or feet. I was trying to decide if that was a mistake of the writers of the show. Or intentional. Also they mentioned they found his family & know who he is. I’m only on episode 7, but if that’s the case we know he’s not Christ
He IS the antichrist and it's pretty scary seeing so many people believe he is the massiah or Jesus return. .. if you know the bible. If you know what's told to happen. @@StephenKeats1323 have you seen it? the story revolves around finding your belief just like what the reviewer said. the show clearly leaves the decision to the audience whether to believe that the character is the messiah or not. if you've seen it, it's not propaganda but a beautiful, and even tragic, reflection of how real life faith actually works.
@@brightskysyl3913 Why then not portray a more 'neutral' version of the messiah character. Don't draw too much of a resemblance of what we (muslims) been taught regarding Dajjal. I know the show is geared for an American audience who more likely don't know anything about dajjal or even they're own version of the anti christ, but come on in the first 10 minutes only I can already draw my own conclusion.

This is the speech he made in Washington before walking on the water:
Look around you what do you see?
Is your world good?
Is it evil?
Ask yourself ... who is guilty?
Who is innocent?
What are you?
Look at your neighbor... be brave enough
to see yourself.
Your own reflection cast back at you.. reflected in
each.
Look where you stand ... in a shining city
on the hill... in the land of the free and the
brave standing for liberty and justice.
How true do those words ring to you.
When did you bring liberty?
Where did you cause justice?
I stand at the gate of a nation, a nation where power
is not invited. I stand at the gate and I look out upon you
and you look back to me but all i can do is reflect
what I see. If you have come to receive you will go
away poorer.
If you have come here to understand you will leave here lost.
For those who have understood .. for those who have received..
it is time.
Returning to your scripture will not save you.
Bending to your knees will not please anyone.
That time has past.
This time is now.
You are the judged. You are the chosen.
I am here to break the mirror so you see what side
you stand.
What you see will be your choosing.

Ask no questions, just take the resources that you want/ need from a situation, when you get what you want, leave and repeat😂😂
Do they not guilt trip humans for leaving the light on these days, or using a plastic bag instead of a paper one. 😂😂
There's got to be a give in take. My state use to do a utilities reimbursement program. Once they stopped that, everyone started using more energy again. They charge .15 cents a plastic bag. I started using cloth.
Reward the people instead of shaming them and the green movement would take flight.
Maybe this can teach a lot of people how not to follow anything blindly because this time will come
Like the character Staci? She risked her daughter's life by skipping her chemotherapy in the false hope that Al-Masih can somehow cure her. Her husband, Jonah, had every right to be angry with her for this especially she did this without telling him. And in the end, the daughter dies anyway.

In the last episode, they introduced a kid Malik, his friends say he exaggerates storys like they mentioned lion spaceship... at the end scene it could be possible that the Messiah character asked this kid to say things to Aviram... or the kid is just exaggerating as this is his habit..
Oh shit, the kid spoken like a true pupil of this so called Messiah. The writers is so brilliant.
Still doesn’t explain how they survived their plane getting shot out of the sky and how they survived the impact of the place crash, the plane was smashed to pieces yet their bones didn’t even break
People survive crashes. And not everyone survived.
We don't know if they did survive. We only saw from the boy who exaggerates and more importantly makes up stories perspective. In those scenes he became the narrater, which isn't exactly the best source.
My thought exactly! @ Muhammad Azeem
Agree totally with everything you said. I'm a Christian and I wasn't offended but did find myself contemplating similar questions. I hope there is a season 2 because I feel like a lot of emphasis was placed on the who and not enough on the why? Also I don't think they even definitively answered who he was either. Can we trust what the boy, who lied about lion, said about what happened after the crash? Idk. So good and yet so frustratingly evasive.

Great point about the boy. He reflects the believability and contradiction of the main character. Another reason to like this series.
Absolutely. Anyone believing the show intended for us to believe he definitely raised the dead is off. It is left open, as with what came before.
I really enjoyed how it shows the chaos that such a thing would bring to this world. Although this is fictional, it brings up many of our modern problems and dilemmas. I hope there will be a season 2, it deserves it.
Watched all season 1. It was excellent, and God is for everyone not just "these people" or "those people" and it is stimulating for all. I loved it. The cultures thing is fine. One of the best series netflick has done.
The idea of the series is very beautiful, and it does not attack any other religion. It talks about the Syria war and destruction, and a hurricane in America and destruction. The series wants to show you that there is no difference between humans.

I was raised a Catholic. I have no religious beliefs now but this tv series drew me in. I did imagine Christ looking like this actor. I love the fact that he was helping the Palestinians. I do not understand why he wasted his time with Christians in America. I loved the ending!
actually , there is a real messiah in the tv show (him/her) , that person will be revealed on time , rememeber in the begining , the mother said god has a plan for everyone wich mean every one has a their own role to play , lol
It was excellent. Intriguing, inspiring, fascinating, powerful.
As an Abrahamic Religion believer, I'm disgusted by many from part of the religion are being so narrow-minded towards this series even by watching the trailers weeks ago.... The story is not to influence but just like u said, it's fictional... For example, being a Jedi doesn't mean it's a true religion to influence any of us on Earth... To me, I love the show and can't wait for more. May Peace be upon you...
When I watched the trailer I was thinking it was crap. Jesus said there would be people saying christ is here or christ is over there. But when he does come people will know. So, I wonder if people would really think the guy in the series is really the messiah. I find it hard to believe anybody would be fooled when its written in the bible about the antichrist.
Enjoyed it and it is always those in power who may lose control who end up pulling the strings. The plane or the bomb are examples. The message from this movie is that we are not ready if something like this really happened in our time.
Chris Garcia it mystery what we can do is wait and always be ready in what coming in the future
Its been awhile since I last left a comment on your video. I doubt you would remember me but I'm glad to see you are working hard on sooo much content since then. (Will go through them all soon). Regarding the Messiah, It grabbed my attention straight away and kept me guessing as well as to his motives and authenticity. I loved how the plot developed and kept me wanting more. Since I spent nearly 20 years of my life in Kuwait and seen how strict the arab world is about topics of religion especially their faith. I can appreciate the people who had the courage to make this show and give the world a taste towards a forbidden topic or scenario. Keep up the vids and I wish your family good health and fortune.
Loved it. The main character was brilliant as an actor... well done.
I loved this series. It was thought provoking and it kept me guess from start to finish. Acting superb as well. I binge watched it and I never do that. I just couldnt leave the tv....
The director said they are working on season 2.... This is the best thing on anything right now.... there will be award nominations for best director, writer, and actor next year....
Season 2 confirmed!!! Awesome.
I enjoyed the series. It was a well written study of faith and and asked some questions regarding the difference between faith and beliefs. I hope there will be a second series of this thought provoking show as these are questions well worth asking.
9/10 Show, must watch.
I am a Christian and I am definitely not offended. The story is amazing and inspires me to think more about my religion and also complicated relationships between religions, politics and human rights etc. What will it be when Messiah really come to nowadays' world? It is a question worth to think!
I'm part way thru watching Messiah on a friend recommendation....I am enjoying it but its a little short of 12 hour-binge-worthy because its slightly too slow. But what I have found interesting is the media reaction to the show. Its largely negative in a very passive-aggressive way - like "it's ok but it's so boring you may as well watch something else". It's not often you see a show reviewed in this way - if you were to go all conspiracy theorist you would say that there are interested parties who don't want you to watch it and dont want to draw too much attention to it by roasting it completely...just let the show fall into the background and not be renewed for another season. The biggest thing I take from watching Messiah is that it brings to the forefront of my mind the fact that we can be so much better to our fellow man. Maybe this is a naive sentiment but what is wrong with that? I don't know but I can't help but feel that if the mainstream media had been gushing about the show it could have influenced a lot of people around the world to be more tolerant. Instead the subject of being better people as a whole is wiped away. Maybe I'm talking utter shite but I like this show!
If you want to go conspiracy theories... it is not often that a show or movie portrays Israeli characters in such a negative way.
Netflix will be mad to not continue this series?
From what i been reading? All kinds of cultures of beliefs are loving the show...Netflix 2020 Started off with a hit!
How unfair that netflix gives the revival to Lucifer and uses Christian references and yet when messiah comes along and is also a fictional attempt it totally gets blown over. The sensitive need to just back off from amazing storytelling and great entertainment.
I watched it twice: first time straight through; the second time - only the El Massih scenes. It was truly riveting.
Michelle Monaghan has the same psycho/wide eyed expression for every scene no matter what the situation calls for. Like a one dimensional actor. Other than that the series is fantastic.
Yeah, I agree. I REALLY dislike her as an actress. She was in The Path on Hulu, also. Not impressed. (I loved Messiah, even my hatred of her acting didn't spoil the series for me, that's how much I liked it!)
Overall, great review. On a video editing note, try taking it easy on the 'slow zoom.' That's generally used for highlighting an object in a scene or to put emphasis on awkward actions. Considering you're the focus when this happens, I cannot believe either would be desirable. 😉
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the review.
As a Pk to another Pk, I do love this series as people were looking for "proof" as to if this person is the messiah or not, but the writers were showing don't go by miraculous deeds, but the words he said.
Ha, pk... haven't heard that term for a while.
@@TheRubyTuesday I grew up with being Pk and called a Pk. Does give you a sense of humour with a shield of deception. BTW, you are doing an excellent job!
Thank you for the Review. I love the fact that you do judge the show based on personal belief challenge. You have to watch this with a very open mind and ask yourself "Is Jesus really how we see him or is he different" Thank you again.
This is a message that people have forgotten about God. This series is just a message relayed to people who have forgotten God but others used it as an opportunity to kill people in order to
cleanse the world. If you listen well enough, messiah is a message of God to stop violence but others use it as an opportunity to do bad. The actor portrayed his role properly.
Past people followed Jesus. Today People follow evil Politicians and Money
ultimatix89 that is correct.
I still have 4 more episodes to watch. Will be back to give my thought on it. And i'm a muslim btw
I initially wasn't going to watch it because I cannot stand most of what passes for religious themed entertainment. It's always a preachfest and I loathe that. But I kept seeing the trailer, so gave it a shot - and found it compulsively watchable, I actually liked it. What I like the most is that you're not preached to - at all. In fact that none of the characters gets a real 'answer' to ANY of their questions. Every time they asked him a question, he directed it back at them. That's the way it should be, esp if you really do believe in God, because if you do, you have to wonder why we were given such a brain if we were only meant to be sheep, I don't think we were. I think the ability to think and reason, a conscience that guides right action, and free will to choose that right action was the point of us. And the messages he actually did deliver - were true, and spot on. Or I'm just talking out of my ass, which I'm sure some troll will point out. But I really liked it because I don't like being served pap or easy answers - to anything. I kinda wish the ending had been more vague, though. We should be made to wonder and think and reason and figure out things for ourselves, or again, what's the point of this big brain we've got? Spoon feeding is for infants.
Based on the ending, i think he is the antichrist and jibril is the second coming of jesus, and they’ll fight each other in season 2?
fofo he cured 2 not all
Cokeless Name no no no no no no. Why would they do that when Jibril was a loyal follower it doesn’t make sense
Ed Banger bc i think jibril might be the 2nd coming of jesus since he survived the bombing a few feet away from it, and i think he may have the power to resurrect as well when he touched Qamar’s hand maybe he brought him back to life. This would mean al masih is actually the antichrist who as well has the power to resurrect too.
Cokeless Name but messiah guy said he’ll have big roles in future and that his life will be tough
Cokeless Name when resurrected like the 2 end they move a lot Qamar hardly move he was alive in critical condition
Very interesting show, had me guessing but wondering why he didn't save all the people and animals he came across, like the child who had cancer. Had me scratching my head.
even jesus in scripture did not save everyone, god has his own plan
speakupforjustice 🤨🤨🤨
I loved this and the ending one of the best series ive watched in a while i think there'll be a season 2 because the more controversy usually ends up in more popularity obviously if the "product" is good like this series.
Yes its good series i hope for season 2 also... netflix got me surprised a lot lately....
This was one of the best series I have watched in a long time. I don't understand how anyone can be offended from an fictitious story. Yes it takes elements from Christianity, Islam and Judaism but that's the whole point. All 3 monotheistic faiths are technically awaiting the arrival of the Messiah.
One thing I loved about this series is just how good the acting and dialogue was. Especially the Hebrew and Arabic speaking characters were on point and the actual language was oh so spot on. As an Arab I HATE IT when I hear Arabic being spoken by a character who's clearly not an Arab and does not speak the language at all.
Finally...just wanted to say the ending was damn good. I won't spoil it but this series is really worth watching and I hope they make a 2nd season.
thank you so much for this video with you just speaking about the series and not getting deep into any crazy theory. its impartial and just straight review !
The Oscar Wallace subplot is so good and there's clearly some writing talent. I want to read that his book. Too bad it doesn't really exist. :( Some really daring choices. It's still seemingly the Abrahamic god that they're talking about drawing from Judaism, Islam, and Christianity and having characters for each of those religions. However, the story at the same time seems to be abstracting its concept of god and reaching for God which is of course not necessarily the Abrahamic god. It's not tied down to scripture and dogma. "God is still talking" as they say and as any good person knows God doesn't only talk to Jews, Christians and Muslims nor can those three be considered as the best interpreters of God's word.
U talk to God in supplication while God talk to u wen u reading his words
At times it was slow and other times it was very very powerful with an absolute cliffhanger finale... And keeps you guessing what next!!! Definitely recommend it... I hope they do season 2!!
For the life of me I can't imagine why Jordan is objecting to this series. I haven't picked up on any anti Islam vibe from the series yet.
Have you watched the whole thing yet? Things do not go so well for the kid who ends up in Jordan...
@@boggers but that's reality, it didn't portray all muslims as villains. Look at Gibril; the show is only showing how far people would go for their beliefs. Look at how Israel was portrayed when trying to silence Al-Masih or the US government trying to take him down and trying to kill him off during the plane ride. It shows the good and the ugly side of humanity as a whole
You said "Is he who he said he is?" but he never said he was or wasn't who everyone thought he was. He never answered, when he was asked, that he was the Messiah, people around him did. Extremely intriguing show in my opinion and the ending broke me because I need S2 asap.
I have seen it all amazing show Netflix made very well directed and scripted
What intrigued me was that the initial followers of ‘al-masihi’ slowly declines ie. the priest etc after the CNN news report on his background BUT the non believers ie. the cops, CIA is slowly moving towards ‘believers’ mode.
The series have shown that the 40++ days of dark clouds (there are sayings that this will happen in June/July 2020) has came and passed (episode 1) and imam mahdi, dajjal / anti christ & jesus / isa will show up so it would be interesting to see how the director would want to play it out with more twists.
Also what fascinated me was the walk over water act (reminded me of a Chris Angel illusionist). Now the science and technology aided with creativity we have today if being used back in the AD days, would be deemed as the ‘real deal’. And if at all some form of illusion is being used by ‘al mahdi’ during the white house scene, it does not mean that he may not be the messiah. The concept would be the people’s faith and how their faith would be tested?
If it looks too ‘harry potter-ish’ even in our current times, it will definitely take out the curiosity from human nature and defeats the purpose of having the people think for them selves (believers vs non-believers)
I wonder if al masihi’s bday also falls on x’mas day. While he has a brother, the director can always spin it as if he is adopted etc
Can’t wait on how season 2 will turn out. Loving the ‘Lost’ vibes here.
Season 2 would include who really Payam is. Was he adopted? Was he an immaculate conception? Was he found in a spaceship that crashed in Iran?
"Immaculate conception" doesn't mean what you think it means.
Dash X ok, I am sure you are dying for me to ask you to tell me what it really means so please go ahead enlighten me 😊

In pop culture, people tend to think it means Jesus was "immaculately conceived" or "conceived without intercourse," and that isn't it. Mary is the one who was, according to church doctrine, immaculately conceived. She was conceived free from the stain of original sin. I try to not be too pedantic about things, but that is just one that has always stuck in my head. Again, sorry if that came off as pedantic dickery. And it probably isn't something I should even bother with since I am largely lapsed in my faith.
Dash X no worries dude thanks for that.
@@scudrunner5 Cool. Hey, if you enjoy "Messiah," I suggest trying Michael Petroni's ABC tv series from 2003 called "Miracles." It starred Skeet Ulrich, and it touched on the themes of "Messiah" in a somewhat different way. I thought it was very good. In fact, I think the pilot episode is one of the best first episodes I've ever seen for any show. It was canceled pretty quickly, but it got a raw deal. After a strong premier it was repeatedly pre-empted by Iraq war coverage and just lost its audience. I think only four episodes actually aired, but 13 were filmed and later made available on DVD.
I don't think it's a slow-pace show. I found your observation interesting. Great review!
Its an amazing art piece. Waiting for seasons to come. Impatiently.
I loved it. Binged it in 2 days. They actually have lots of characters that I’m interested in knowing more about and seeing where they go. I do think they wrapped up the preacher though, maybe not Rebecca . I do hope a season 2 is made just because they can take this in so many directions
love it this is the best show iv watched in a long time
I love how you say in the beginning that your beliefs are irrelevant, yet you can't help but tell us that you're Christian and your Dad was/is a pastor ;) Above all, I think this story line is the one thing that makes this so intriguing, isn't it? The acting is good, the subject matter etc, but we can't help but want it to be true. We're all rooting for him to be real I think, whatever that "real" is to us.
Yeah, sorry. Should Have edited that out perhaps.
@@TheRubyTuesday Not at all, it's my point exactly. The story line is so controversial because its a perfect example of how Art causes real emotion. No matter your denomination, we want it to be real
I think we're rooting for him to be real because we saw him perform at least three undoubtable miracles. Of course I understand that it is fiction, but he did know the personal history of the agent, heal the boy who was shot, walk on water and raise the two guys at the end. In my mind, there is no question that he (the character) is "real".
I loved it! We need to discuss what we have been around and around of...
Series not look like how I imagine it from trailer . But waiting for next season . May they make some good interesting in next season's
It is not about Messiah or religion at all . It is about facing your own demons , facing your fate, facing your inner truth you always been afraid of.
I enjoyed. Great Story. It is underrated by many professional critics.
I agree with most of your comments. I saw the series come out in January but I wasn't interested. With not much to keep me entertained during the days of Covid-19 I took a closer look at the series. After reviewing the trailer, I decided to watch series over the weekend. I was not disappointed and very impressed with the way it all came together. I originally thought it was going to be just another show about someone from the middle east who was a terrorist and who had a following. The producers did a great job with keeping us coming back for more. I would recommend other to watch because this really makes you think about, how would we react to the second coming of Christ in our modern times.
There are plenty of offensive TV series on Netflix, V Wars is one of them, but I wasn't offended by this at all. Well-acted and well written. I hope there's a second season.
I thought it was good. Very thought provoking.
Can’t wait for season 2. This series glued me to screen till I finished. “WHAT A HEALTHY CONFUSION” 😉
Just done watching it and honestly good story with interesting divalopements but the characters are a bit bland at the beginning ,6/10
Nice review, I watched it and thought it was very good! Looking forward to and hoping it gets a season two, I want to know what he was looking at at the end.
Great series! Thought provoking!
Great production values.
Great writing and acting.
Is he the messiah or is he a con artist is a false binary, imo. A better question is maybe just "who and/or what is he and what is his agenda?" I really hope a second season happens because there are so many places it could go from the ending and all of the threads left throughout the series.
I've read reviews that say it's made for a religious audience, but I'm not a believer and I was totally hooked.
Also, you can't "choose" to be offended. You are or you aren't. You can choose to talk about being offended or choose to pretend to be offended, but feelings aren't choices. You can't decide if something is painful or pleasant.
I have watched all 10 episodes and i am pretty clear(from a muslims point of view) that the writer has clearly confused its viewers between three people. Jesus(messiah), Imam Mehdi and Dajjal(false god). In the series basically the refugees from syria who have come to israel consider al masih to be imam mehdi first but later they leave except jibril. The muslims or refugees of syria when they reach jordan they deny to obey him and they call him dajjal or false God. So muslims first considered him imam mehdi(who is a respectable figure for us) but later they say he is a false god. The Christians in texas and Israel are fond of his miracles and they think of him as the return of messiah. They obey al masih respectfully specially felix but later in the 10th episode when they got to know about his history the christans also start to hate him and call him false god.
The s1 ends here.
Its just my opinion of what i have understood from this. Please no hate to any cast/religion. And correct me if i am wrong. Peace
The series was good and i am waitkng for s2
So why did he has godly power?
@@HapPawhere thats not shown in the first season. In his history they show that him name hi payam golsheri and he had a habit of calling himself the messiah
But he never called himself the messiah that’s just what everyone else calls him
@@ymddk4601 yeah i agree but he says that i came to deliver a message from a god. I think the meaning is same
Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me personally. I am a Christian so forgive my ignorance about the Q'uran (? - hope I spelled it right - no disrespect). I heard them mention imam Mehdi but I didn't understand who they were referring too. I will have to look them up. I thought that it was excellently done. I felt to me as if I was watching a scale, that was evenly balanced and every time the scale would tip in the slightest way in one direction (Here is evidence he could be the messiah) they added just enough plausible deniability that would tip the scale back the other way. It seemed to capture the faith journey completely in the fact of extending your faith to believe, to believing whole-heartedly, then something challenges your belief (He does something unexpected, awkward, or seemingly cruel that is hard to explain - like shooting the dog- which brings doubt), to extend your faith again and continue to follow, be rewarded and renewed in your faith (walking on water), to disappointment discouragement and loss of faith only to see the faith return again in the end of the final episode. It depicts to me the highs and lows of a spiritual person -personal journey. I like the reality of that. I can't wait for season 2.
I love the series mixed with this intense religious aspect. Very well produced genius, i hope it have at least 5 seasons
If anything this series just makes me believe more that the scriptures aren't meant to be taken literally
Papa Legba that’s the agenda of these anti Christian networks is to make people think the scriptures are not real just fiction but they are so real and true it’s historical fact that Jesus was crucified look it up. Don’t be deceived ..
@@DavisFamily8 well I just mean in the sense that if the messiah returned today would we even recognize him
Papa Legba You would if you took the SCRIPTURE LITERALLY... His return is described. We see what we want to see. That’s how we are deceived...
@@tameracoates398 we'll see
I honestly LOVED this series. Absolutely GUTTED they cancelled it. GUTTED. It was a great concept, script was brilliant and the acting was fantastic. It just didn't get the views. It was so interesting and I loved how we have to make our own minds up. They had a couple more series at least and I just wish they'd of been able to wrap things up. It was one of the most interesting concepts I think Netflix has ever released. Why people kicked off about this.... I'll never know. I just don't get why. I'm also a Christian and I'm so sick of people getting offended by everything. Arghhhh
It does raise some interesting concepts on religion as a whole. It's just great. I'm still grieving the loss of this series. How we would react if this was to happen right now was just great. Just loved it.
The first review of 2020, oh yeah
i would of enjoyed this more, if the subtitles lasted a little longer so i could read it and see what was going on screen
I have never had a Netflix series that I needed to go research what the deal was. I was trying to put it all together at the end. What's up with the girl and the seizure, walking on water, He disappears in the jail cell, and so fourth...I am lost.
The guard at the jail admitted to letting him out. David Blaine can walk water through illusion. He did over the themes. Can't explain the healing of the guy's from the chopper. The kid that was shot, the bullet should have been flat from impact, not new, so that was fake. It is a bit mind bending. But I think it's meant to be.
I thought it was amazing it really does keep you guessing on who he is i really hope Netflix decides to have a second season
(Spoiler) They didn't really answer the question at the end of the season. The little boy who claimed he revived Aviram was proved to be a huge exaggerator who lied in his stories. We were given no definitive proof they were dead in the first place. It was another kind of teaser. With the walking on water thing, they also told us that he learned crazy illusions from his uncle, but that one is a bit harder to not believe. Another thing is that the cancer girl ended up dying even after meeting with him ( although we don't know if he even tried to heal her or not, the show never revealed that properly).
I hope season two quickly moves past with the does he / does he not have prophetic powers ( leaning towards he does, but season one has been blueballing us a lot on the ACTUAL answer). Now it's interesting to see whether he's the false prophet ( who will have powers) or the real one. I've heard the theory that jibril may be the real one, would like to see more on that.
I could CARE LESS about the story with the pastor and his wife and his daughter. The show spent waaayyy too much time on the characters which, to this point, have not proved to be relevant to the things we actually want to know about.
As a Christian who love God and Jesus l was confused as hell, until Messiah fired a gun to the dog. l started to doubt him, then he walk on walter, l got moved again, the list goes on. But l was eventually convinced at the end that This Messiah was not our Jesus. Jesus loved his church and its people and will never abandon it for no reason , and he had a power to heal. Anyway whoever made the show is Genius, l have learn a lot, l fear for the day the real Jesus come, we will indeed not recognise him.
I loved this show. I too couldn’t wait to see the next episode, and really hope there is a second season to kind of wrap it . The only fear is to draw it out too long.
Binge watched it today. How any religion can be upset is ridiculous. He said he was for ALL men. It was really good and it had really nice twist.
Why even bring up the people 'choosing to be offended'
I swear I cant find a decent review on anything now without offence being discussed.
Probably because people are stupid weak snowflakes nowaydas. Sorry to be so hard about it but i cant say it clearer. And the goverments allow for such moronic thing that the law includes punishments for offending other belief system. Govs literally made it possible to limit free speech to kiss religious asses.
And, of course, you're offended by that.
Yes, nowadays they are, unfortunately. Although the reviewer is simply mentioning it to cover the bases. In today’s political and social climate, you need to be careful about what you say. I think he did a good job of explaining what’s actually going on.
agree 100%.
I am a sci-fic, horror, fantasy fan...not so much thriller...and I think binge watching is stupid... but guess what? Last night I decided to browse and found this series and ended up watching all 10 episodes. "Oh you hypocrites..."
Im from a Muslim Background (actually studying islamic Theology) and i was not offended by the whole Story at all. Its like you said in the end you decide of what you are offended and of what not. Hope there will be another Season.
in my opinion.
Villain in this series is yet be introduce(i mean the devil).
Major characters will be in one team fighting against Evil.
and those people will be
Al messiah (PG)
Jebril
Rebecca
Aviram
Eva.
Really interesting and eerie at the same time. Can’t wait for season 2!
Saw The Two Popes and then Messiah within a few days and they make a good pairing imo. It is rare to find intriguing and stimulating (in-depth) theological content - muscular minds, tolerance, and seeking after truth. ('Truth may be vital but without Love it is unbearable...' linking both films). Both films are harrowing at times.
Brilliant show...it does a great job of being provocative and at the same telling a story that touches the question of faith and the nature of it. Great writing....
