This is back when college basketball players committed to four years of playing basketball for one school and would play one year of freshman basketball and then play the remaining 3 years on the varsity, in the meantime they learned how to properly play the game of basketball unlike today's college players who play one or two years of college basketball then leave to hopefully continue playing professionally with very little experience .

Two long court outlet passes thrown by him in quick succession in the 1st half result in fast break baskets. Only centers are supposed to be able to throw outlets like that. Monte was amazing!

This game was played before “March Madness”; only the ACC tournament champ advanced to the NCAA tournament. Maryland only lost 5 games that year, three of them were to NC State. The Wolfpack goes on to win the NCAA. It was an epic game. Remember like it was yesterday.

Not in '73, unfortunately State was on suspension but they won the NCAA in '74...losing only 1 game in 2 years.
