The 3050 mobile was originally 4gb, they just recently upgraded to a 6gb version last month, so just imagine all the people who got screwed into buying a laptop with 4gb vram.. their was never an 8gb mobile version of the 3050 btw, only desktop...

I didn’t understand something about energy consumption: a processor with integrated graphics consumes 120 + 120 = 240 watts, and the same processor with discrete 60 + 60 = 120 watts? or did I not understand something?
I still do not understand how the 3050 shows as 60w. It was running near 100% which means that if their rated max is correct it should be drawing double that.
Most of the people think about 3050 6gb like a regular gpu, but it’s made for a very specific purpose, for office pc to be able to play some games. You just plug and play, no need for power connector or extra cooling. Simple and relatively cheap solution.
but it can be modded to use full 8GB and add power connector to 115W and you got almost PS5 levels of perfromance, and remember is the same as RTX A2000-6G $650 -66% discount...
I'm not impressed by the performance and price of the 3050 6GB and I hate it too. But, it's the most powerful GPU that you can put in an old Dell that doesn't require any power connectors plus it won't bottleneck your old i7 4th gen or 6th gen because it's horrible in terms of performance, all for $180. Misleading name and horrible price though.

@@mymrmelon3503 3050 is a trash value product, not a bad product, to build pc like that you wouldn't need ryzen 7700X, more like 7500 if anything, but considering pricing i'd probably even go 13100F or 13300F class product, and pricing of DDR 5 is getting close to DDR 4, so there's no difference when building new, it's more cost effective to go AM5 when going new, if you're going used then AM4 would be way to go and you don't need insanely good ram speed, just OC them, get good 5200-6000 kit and get them up to 8000, just go with good brand that uses hynix single rank
now just waiting for AMD to price these apus at reasonable prices.. sorry not paying $300 for an apu when this same could have been in the $229 Ryzen 5 and made for a killer budget build

Around 2017, a friend offered a 4790k for $100 and I went to that, also scored a gtx 1070 for $100 that same year. In 2020, I wanted to see how ryzen was, so I moved over to a 3600 and scored a 2080super just before the covid craze. Last year I had some people interested in buying my 970 and 1070, as they were just sitting here so I sold those off and, traded my 3600 to a friend for a 2200g and some cash (a close friend wanted to upgrade his father's PC, thats the only reason I traded the 3600) and upgraded to a 5800x3D. So that 2200g went into a second build in which that same friend also supplied me with a free kit of ram, 16gb CL16 3200mhz. I had a long path getting here, but I'm pretty happy. And it made me want to have more fun with PC stuff. Trust me it wasn't easy getting the money for this stuff, but in the end things worked out.
Can you do 3050 6gb vs 1660 super? In my country, the 3050 6gb is about $205. And I paid nearly half of that price for my 1660 super in second-hand. No one has done a comparison between the two as far as I know so I am just curious.
1660 super will surpass 3050 6g easily in rasterization, and we don't talk about ray tracing with 3050 6g since it just can't handle it at all. Dlss is useful but it doesn't worth over $50.

The RTX 3050 is the “Best in it’s CLASS). LOW PROFILE, POWERED BY 70W out of the PCIE PORT, and outperforms every graphics card in it’s category, except the RTX A2000 which is very hard to find and 30-50% more expensive. If the 4060LP WAS A PCIE POWERED ONLY CARD, it would’ve been the king. Now., I know all of this because I had an RX6400 LP, ARCA380 LP AND HAVE USED THE GTX1650. RTX 3050 6GB LP, I just bought it about a week ago, best in class period. A2000 🤔 depends on pricing, and if it comes with the LP BRACKET INCLUDED AND MINI DP TO DP or HDMI ADAPTER.
It works in OEM systems that have a 300w power supply. Kind of like the GTX 1050ti or GTX 1650. The exception is, most OEM systems now come with a 240w PSU, which really isn't enough for any of these -75w cards.
People are acting very disappointed that the 3050 mobile is only 6gb of vram. Do people really not realize that the rtx 3050 mobile was originally 4gb of vram, and just recently upgraded to 6GB? Just imagine how bad that version is.. there are still laptops being sold with that sku
Only reason to consider a premium APU would be to use the iGPU for a second monitor. If you're making an APU build cus you don't quite have the budget for a GPU, you especially don't have money for a premium APU.

For budget gamers with a socket 1200 or am4 system it makes more sense to buy the 170ish euro RTX 3040 (called RTX3050 6Gb) if you an old weak gpu. If you already have a stronger GPU, the 8700G upgrade makes no sense whatsoever!

IMO, low settings are NOT worth it. I would lower res and even take 30fps stable instead of low settings. Not that I need to (my card at least handles stable 60fps 1440p for 95% of games). Anyways, from my experience in game visual settings: - Huge difference from "low" to "mid". - Considerable difference from "mid" to "high". - Then from "high" to "very high" it is better to start doing custom settings. Only some of the settings in very high are noticeable. - Lastly, "ultra" is not really worth it. Very bad tradeoff in fps for sh*t that you probably won't notice 99% of the time you are playing. But I guess it is still good that the setting exists.

That next APU probably need DDR6 to come to PC first. The 780M is more or less just the same as 680M. AMD did not push things higher because the GPU will still going to be limited by DDR5 RAM.
This low profile 70 watt GPU is amazing for what it does only if you have a slim factor desktop otherwise i would not recommend this graphics cards but still brings new life to a slim factor PC, you can play all your favourite games

It isn’t, the 3050 is using less power yes but you also have CPU power to think about. When combining that, it’s using the same or more power than the IGPU. The igpu also doesn’t need external power because it’s all in the APU It’s also not meant for budget gaming, it’s an insanely niche product for anyone who doesn’t want external power connectors for a bad price.

This APU is a beautiful little piece of tech for mini itx living room builds . If ram was 7200MT/s instead of 6000, it would have probably stood a better chance vs the 3050 in some games

I wouldn't use it above 45W AMD config TDP (real 55 to 65W) in any case, this is just the workhorse loew power pc to work and to mild 3d at levels of rx6400... as impressive (but useful for a niche of the market) as Sempron or Celeron cpus...
a more fun comparison is to compare the 8700g to 14100f + 3050. That combo is the same cash outlay. I agree that max performance is going involve an rx6600 (for the 300.00)

That's not correct. The report on the overlay for the 780m is the power consumption of the entire 8700G package. The overlay is basically reporting the power consumption twice.
CPU & iGPU power close each other cuz it's linked to one sensor, basically just pick one of this and compare to combined CPU + GPU on the right, 780M system use slightly less power.
@@m8x425 i'm absolutely correct. Most of the 100 watts of power reported on the left are due to the igpu, the cpu part uses even less than on the right due to the framerate. 780m is certainly using as much power as this "3040" if not more but gets comfortably worse performance.

No, it consumes only 100-120W but it displays two times because the program separates gpu and cpu, even though they are in the same package.

Can you do 3050 6gb vs 1660 super? In my country, the 3050 6gb is about $205. And I paid nearly half of that price for my 1660 super in second-hand. No one has done a comparison between the two as far as I know so I am just curious.
1660 is worst, no DLSS and ray tracing, you cannot open the avatar game

LOW PROFILE, POWERED BY 70W out of the PCIE PORT, and outperforms every graphics card in it’s category, except the RTX A2000 which is very hard to find and 30-50% more expensive. If the 4060LP WAS A PCIE POWERED ONLY CARD, it would’ve been the king. Now., I know all of this because I had an RX6400 LP, ARCA380 LP AND HAVE USED THE GTX1650.

The RTX 3050 needs about 70W. The 8700G iGPU needs about 50W. So the RTX 3050 needs about 15-20W more eletricity as the 780M but its about 1/3 faster.

It works in OEM systems that have a 300w power supply.
Kind of like the GTX 1050ti or GTX 1650.
The exception is, most OEM systems now come with a 240w PSU, which really isn't enough for any of these -75w cards.

Only reason to consider a premium APU would be to use the iGPU for a second monitor. If you're making an APU build cus you don't quite have the budget for a GPU, you especially don't have money for a premium APU.
But still not this one. I use a 7800x3d and the igpu there handles a second Monitor easy😅
Or use it for OBS, the 780m can handle the encoding while the dedicated GPU focuses on the game

agree. but all test hardware should be factory default setting. otherwise it pointless in make comparison, because OC may cause issue or damage to hardware and most people use default setting anyway.

Again we see that Ryzen 7 8700G is a pointless product. Better pick a cheaper CPU like Core i5-12400 and paired it with RTX 3050 6GB for better gaming experience.
IMO, low settings are NOT worth it. I would lower res and even take 30fps stable instead of low settings. Not that I need to (my card at least handles stable 60fps 1440p for 95% of games). Anyways, from my experience in game visual settings:
- Huge difference from "low" to "mid".
- Considerable difference from "mid" to "high".
- Then from "high" to "very high" it is better to start doing custom settings. Only some of the settings in very high are noticeable.
- Lastly, "ultra" is not really worth it. Very bad tradeoff in fps for sh*t that you probably won't notice 99% of the time you are playing. But I guess it is still good that the setting exists.

This low profile 70 watt GPU is amazing for what it does only if you have a slim factor desktop otherwise i would not recommend this graphics cards but still brings new life to a slim factor PC, you can play all your favourite games

It isn’t, the 3050 is using less power yes but you also have CPU power to think about. When combining that, it’s using the same or more power than the IGPU. The igpu also doesn’t need external power because it’s all in the APU

This APU is a beautiful little piece of tech for mini itx living room builds . If ram was 7200MT/s instead of 6000, it would have probably stood a better chance vs the 3050 in some games

That's not correct. The report on the overlay for the 780m is the power consumption of the entire 8700G package. The overlay is basically reporting the power consumption twice.
CPU & iGPU power close each other cuz it's linked to one sensor, basically just pick one of this and compare to combined CPU + GPU on the right, 780M system use slightly less power.
@@m8x425 i'm absolutely correct. Most of the 100 watts of power reported on the left are due to the igpu, the cpu part uses even less than on the right due to the framerate. 780m is certainly using as much power as this "3040" if not more but gets comfortably worse performance.
