I remember my dad kept telling me when I was about 16 (1981) .."Enjoy this time.. You will always remember it, and it will go by so fast you won't have a clue what happened" I thought he didnt know what he was talking about. Now, I tell my kids the same thing... It's life.

Just found my C-64 in a box with a 1541 disk drive and the cassette drive as well. Yeah, that and the VIC-20 ... taught myself BASIC when I was ~10. Good times. This song magically brings it all back and more.

For anyone too young to remember the 80s and 90s, yes, it was as amazing as you think it was. To be young during the 80s and 90s was the single greatest experience anyone could have ever had, ever. I still miss those times so badly it hurts.

this is an unqualifiable sentiment. considering that if you grew up in one era, you have no way to compare the experiences of other eras...you're on the outside looking in for any other era. Also since you can only live from your own possibly privileged upbringing...you can only speak for yourself. You might be thinking but look at all the issues kids now face that 80s kids either didnt have any way of knowing about or dealing with. Well thats just whitewashing, becuase the 80s had more than its share of problems in terms of human civilization. Did you forget the "Feed the Children ad campaigns", faces on milk cartons, Mcgruff the crime dog, and that ever looming source of helplessness, the Cold War threat of nuclear holocaust, was still a thing until the very end of the 80s? Maybe the 80s we're the greatest era of all time to grow up in...or maybe you were just very well insulated in your youth. Which seems the more likely conclusion?

Lord, do I miss the 80's. What a great time to grow up in but most importantly I had all of my family. If you still have yours you are wealthy beyond words. Spend as much time with them as possible, tell them you love them because when they are gone there is a part of you that will not recover.

It's amazing how so many young people seem to enjoy the 80s. To do a contrast, I sure never liked any of the shit from my dad's youth. For an 80's kid, everything from the 50s-60s sucked and looked/sounded tragically old. I'm now the same age as my dad was, and all you "young'ins" are praising my childhood/youth era like crazy. Can't help but feeling special. LOL.

Perhaps it's a sign of yearning for simpler times... which were, paradoxically, full of everyday struggle, too. Like, most things we simply google now required a physical trip to the library, imagine that. And learning about other people's lives required actually taking the time to talk to them, instead of stalking people on facebook. Voyeurish, alienating things, those social networks.

Haha you feel like you were 20 yesterday. I feel like I was 20 like a month ago. Things go so insanely fast, and we really aren’t alive a very long time. I still hope that in 20 some odd years they can reverse aging. Would sure be awesome to be 25 again. Though people tell me I look like early 30s, I sure don’t feel like it.
And maybe special was a strong word when describing myself.. more like, feels like the 80s were special. I’m not :)
The reason for this is because the 80's was the first decade where they heavily used electronic gear to produce music which "young'ins" can relate to. I didn't really liked the 50/60/70s that much either.

In the 80's we didn't have iphones and computers like today. We hanged out together in the streets without facebook, instagram. Michael Jackson Beat it style, no shitting! We went anywhere, we did what we wanted, no one could have stopped us. Lives were simpler back then. Not so much chasing over nothing. Information wasn't bombarded upon us like mad. Nobody cared what happened far away in some world we didn't know anything about. For us, the only world was our friends and family. Therefore the sitcom shows were invented, they targeted us because they knew what we cared most of.
