- Just when we thought we were free from the scourge of Batwoman, another director comes along to prove us wrong. This time, Director X, a man who has made his living shooting music videos, brings us the classic story of Robyn Hood, this time, with a bisexual black woman as the main lead.
Because we were all asking for it right?
Buckle up as we discuss this new blight upon entertainment.
Modern Writers:
-Believe that when the heroes commit morally wrong actions, it is justified.
-Believe that people talk like anime characters.
-Believe that everyone is miltiracial.
-Believe that stealing other people's work and changing the character's ethnicity isn't a form of plagiarism.
I've noticed modern shows and movies feature their heroes behaving badly and acting like villains. At first it was confusing, but then I realized, it's likely that the writers truly believe these traits are a good thing.
I want a show about an anti-villain
And they are evil.

Everything about this show looked terrible. Glad I never watched it, nor will I ever.
The fact that everyone keeps giving this show attention for being bad is giving them more views. People watching it who would never watch it. making it more successful for being an awful show.
The thing that amused me was the tag line "robin hood robs from the rich!"
Interesting that it mentions nothing about "giving to the poor!"

I am not joking, the other day my wife found a book which claimed that the 7 deadly sins, as in anger, lust, pride, greed, sloth, envy and gluttony, are actually positive traits which women should embrace, and categorising them as "sins", is simply the view of "the patriarchy!"
So yeah, of course in this current bizarre climate, a rampantly racist, shamelessly sexist, miserably misandrist show with a drip of a director would have less morality than the average mobster!

People nowadays in TV and movies want to go Woke even though it doesn't do them any good.
I find it ironic that people complain about negative stereotypes associated with minority groups, yet these same people will make a show that reinforces these stereotypes, but cranked up to OVER 9000 in the name of "representation" !!!!
That's because you're looking at the behavior in and of itself.
These people are ultimately relativists. Behavior is good or bad based on who is doing it. So if a white director and crew made a show like this, it would be bad. But a black guy made this show, so it's good.

I thought the same thing about "handmades tale", how it was supposed to be a super feminist and pro wahmen show, then when my gf showed it to me, there were graphic scenes of women being r@p3d and tortured including waterboarded. Clearly something so hateful towards women, had to have been created by feminist women.

Modern “entertainment” is equivalent to kindergarten finger painting. No, it’s not Rembrandt, and the child will throw a hissy if you don’t hang it on the fridge. We are living in the dark ages of “entertainment.”
I love how the director makes a character who's entire story is centered around being a criminal and uses the title "hood," and then says that we're racist for not watching the show.
They literally turned Sherwood into a literal ghetto and no one in the writers room thought this was a good idea. God i miss the 90's 🤦🏾♂️

This show is so messy that it deserves the worst series of the year
What got to me was when Director X said something to the effect of “Nobody cares about Robin Hood” to justify why he could do whatever he wanted with the story.
As an Englishman who was born and raised in Nottinghamshire I can tell you that Robin Hood is a VERY big deal here! Half the streets in Nottingham are named after characters from the stories, there’s even a silhouette of Robin Hood in the Nottinghamshire county flag! I mean if you’re going to use somebody else’s culture for your own project at least have the decency to respect it!
I am watching this show in rapt attention as I root for our Hero, John Prince and the brave men and women of the New Nottingham Sherriff Department, in his quest to improve the area and rid it of the blight that is Robyn and her hoods
A much more topical premise would have been to make it about a homeless encampment in Toronto's Sherwood Park. There's probably something interesting that could be done with that.
If you want to check out a better Robin Hood adaptation that tries to change things up a bit, check out _Robin of Sherwood_ (1984-86).
I think a better parallel to the original Robin Hood would be if "Robyn" was a upper-middle class socialist university student who pretends to be working class.

So, I'm black and grew up in Gary, Indiana. Its a hood so famous Futurama dunked on us. I wished to make me expertise known in advance, so you understand where I'm coming from when I say this is the most commercialized, cartoony "hood" I've ever seen in my life. Like, so I'm 41, right? I grew up on Spike Lee films (I ain't calling them joints) and even back then, we used to make fun of how over-the-top and stererotyped his movies were just to make really dumb points that only make sense if you think all of America hates black people.
This show puts anything he made to shame. Which is too bad, cuz the director made the new Superfly and I kinda like that.

It only was approved because it’s Woke. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or not. It’s sad that that’s the only requirement to get a green light for a movie or show now. If it’s not true it sure seems that way.

Robin Hood was based on stories of murderers and rapists who were publically hung to death. At least Director X ( fk knows ) got that bit right.
I don’t think a CW show could this bad if they tried at least CW knows their plot and knows if the show is good and us at least entertaining and hsd some good tv but arrow was probably the last good one this one is so painful it had the Worst review mathematically possible with a 1.0

I haven't heard anyone say this yet, but it warrants pointing out this is a Canadian show written for an American audience. We do not have Sheriffs, we have Mounties and If Mama-San got hospitalized here her odds would be 50/50 and she'd have to wait a minimum of 8 months to get a wheelchair. I could keep going, but you get the picture. The thing is, you absolutely could do a modern Robin Hood but you have to be prepared to go against the real life authorities to do it.

Actually, there are mothers who view their children as friends who enable their sexual behavior, and unfortunately more rampant within the African American and black Caribbean communities, which made this even worse
For some of my friends, their folks view them nothing more than a money-printing, easy retirement cash cow to indulge the worst vices. Some people only have kids to exploit them.

Everyone is reacting to the condom jar, but the reality is that this show is just expressing more bluntly what movies and shows have been doing for decades now, the gradual shrugging off sexual morality with "Don't do anything I wouldn't do, use protection, lol". Especially in shows/movies aimed at adolescents.
And these "condom jars" actually do exist in workplaces, much less houses. Go to a blue city government office, and they put them out there openly.
