  • On May 14, 1610, at 4:10 p.m., Paris was the scene of a tragic event that would forever mark its history: the assassination of Henry IV by François Ravaillac, a religious fanatic. That day, the sovereign has only one goal in mind: to prevent the departure of his beloved. Despite the pressure to manage the affairs of the kingdom, he decides to cross Paris by carriage, without an escort, ignoring the risks linked to the presence of enemies at every street corner.
Against all expectations, his death, orchestrated by religious extremists with the aim of sowing discord, will ultimately help to ease tensions between Catholics and Protestants.
This historical work, written by Jacques Malaterre, is part of the series “That day, everything changed” and is available in the original French version with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
