Hi the steps are. Create a nn empty mask, make a rectangular selection, fill it with gray. Hope that helps.

When I click on the Mask Layer Button in the right side Studio I do not get any options - just a new Mask Layer.
Can you try right clicking. Perhaps in Mac it has a different behavior
