In rural Michigan I have been told that you cant leave dead dogs and cats out/unburried because if the deer get a taste for meat they will start chasing outside pets.
The deer near our property have eaten dead mice from when we clean out our traps.
Squirrels don't just eat birds, but also insects, particularly larvae of tree-nesting insects like wasps and hornets.
One of my favorite coconut crab stories is when Marines on Espiritu Santo nearly wrecked their jeep running into several of them and emptied their sidearms to disperse the crabs.

People have largely forgotten the meaning of the parable of the Good Shepherd. The shepherd isn't good because, "aw, silly sheep got lost". It's because the shepherd is constantly having to deal with a bunch of the most stubborn, stupid, and spiteful critters on the face of the planet. Constantly. The mouthy know-it-all who's actually an idiot and never learns? That's the sheep.
The reason cats often eaten plants in spite of being obligate carnivores is because they WANT to get sick. Thats the method they use to throw up at will and get rid of of any bad meat they might have eaten, though some are capable of doing so just because they want to eat more and are stuffed full so they throw up their half digested meals so they can go back to snacking.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if some eat plants simply because they like to and think indigestion is worth it, sorta like how lactose intolerant people are with diary.
Interesting I've only heard about the version where kind of similarly to Dogs they will eat plants to get rid of headache's

my cats would sometimes eat veggies, and even begged for them. my one loved onions, strangely enough. they seemed fine after. tho, we never gave them alot at one time, either.

Similar to dogs, they'll mess up their digestive track and eventually get really sick and die. Of course, the amount of onions needed for this varies but just dont feed your animals onions.
on the subject of deer's carnivorous savaging, studies showed that deer tend to be the first animals to show up and start feasting on deer carcasses, which is why prion diseases spread in deer populations rapidly.
I remember telling a teacher of mine about these carnivorous acts by herbivores, and she responded that those incidents of horses eating chickens only happened after neglectful owners didn't feed their animals and they started starving, and it never happens in nature...
because you know, a horse needs someone to feed it grass when it lives on an open pasture.

Growing up my grandparents had a farm. They had this one horse named Big Red,he was notorious for eating baby chicks if they got too close to him. It got to the point that the Hens would do everything they could to keep their chicks away from the horse stalls because they knew he'd snatch them up faster than they could run. I put a trail cam in my yard, Ollie's had one for $30 like two or so months ago and I wanted to see what was in my yard. I got stray cats, grey foxes, deer (caught a good 4 or 5 point buck on camera recently), squirrels, and armadillos. It's no wonder the wild rabbit family that I saw last year is pretty scarce this year...they must have noped outta dodge...I mean I've HEARD of deer snacking on non-plant things before...even heard rumors about the squirrels but this vid put it in to perspective. I've only seen ONE wild rabbit this year....now I'm wondering WHAT got them out of the group of things I got going through my yard at night....I'm expecting to see a coyote soon since I KNOW they live in the area...if I see a black bear on camera I'm gonna shit bricks...I've HEARD they are in the area I live but I've never seen one myself though I know people around who have.

There is no free lunch, but protein is protein take the opportunity to get the boost. I'm suprised about this, because I had arguments with mdy teachers about what was teaching and inschool suspend for being a an "obstruction." Wrong debateable, Natural no. Regardless of this, carnivores exist as a part of nature, so I doubt you really need to show this unless you're deliberately trying to attack their beliefs. There are certainly vegetarians in nature--it's just not well expressed in schools that "Herbivores" cows, chickens, etc. will eat meat, just like cats will chew grass for various reasons.

so, the whole "bears are carnivores" thing is actually really interesting, because bears are carnivores. so are cats, dogs and their relatives.
see, "carnivore", no modifier, to a biologist doesn't mean "eats meat". it means "is a member of the genus carnivora", which is the genus bears, dogs, cats and things like badgers and weasels belong to.
bears are carnivores (belonging to carnivora), but are not obligate carnivores (required to eat only meat).
and yes, we will invent a time machine so we can stab whoever named this genus.

Another note to add: why is everyone so focused on saving certain species of animals? Its like everyone has this perception that the food chain is a perfect interconnected web where everything depends on each other which, FYI, it really isnt. Things go extinct and other things adapt. If an animal species starts to go extinct, and is then taken in at mass to nurture, it'll still eventually die out for the same reasons it almost did previously when released back into the wild(unless the extinction is exclusively man-made).
And like you said with Pandas, aside from probably being the #1 consumer of bamboo, it's a huge waste of money that could've instead been used to solve real world issues. Instead, its at this point more like a spectacle to bee seen in zoos if anything.
