Does anyone know the exact date this talk was given? He says "two years" after the Jan. 12, 2010 Earthquake in Haiti to build the hospital there, but he also references the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. So, some time in 2013. I don't see the date on the slide.
The line of the talk comes on at 1:01, when he responds to the idea that "nothing can get done in Haiti." "Well, try building a hospital like this one in Budapest or Boston in just two years."
At the very end, a chap asked Dr. Farmer where he's going to get the money to operate this fancy new hospital he has built in Haiti. Farmer's answer, basically, is that he is hoping the money will somehow materialize out of thin air. That isn't much of an answer. But I guess in Farmer's line of work has to be an optimist.
Dr Farmer gets funding from many sources. Ultimately, he gets the money. Some from donations, some from other organizations. Tom White was a major donor in PIH's early days.
The "five myths" finally do get shown at about minute 57:00, if you want to see them.
