I love how deep the creators of the show got. Actually going to small towns and seeing what the people were like. But then taking it to another level of insanity and creativity.
There used to be a man that would show up to city council meetings in my city that claimed the community development director was sending her hired thugs to follow him and that she tried to hit him with her car. He showed up to offer a crazy rant at almost every meeting. I wonder what ever happened to him.
My mom worked in government (as a democrat in a republican area) for 40 years and she refuses to watch this show anymore because she says it reminds her too much of real life and stresses her out.
These characters always gave me a chuckle. I like that they were recurring enough so we could get a vibe on all of them but not overbearing. The writers on this show were peak!
Parks and rec is one of the few shows that the main characters don't get annoying and childish throughout the series run, it's the actual townspeople Leslie is trying to help.
I work at a municipality. These kind of people are much more common than you think. And just like in the show, people look at them as heroes that speak their mind. Even though they are frickin nuts.
I work for the county and this is so real 💀 they file a lawsuit against the city one year because the state flag was flying at the same level as the national flag in a city park, then the next they’re a local hero because they showed up to a meeting and said “you need to fix homelessness by arresting everybody”
My favorite part of P&R is when they let the improv bit characters go nuts. It's one of the best parts of the show and makes it way more real than other shows!
What a timely upload! The majority of people _really are_ absolutely nuts and just want everything for themselves while the rest of the world burns, and this show somehow made that funny.
When Leslie asks the elderly what they risk when they have sex I always heard “heart attack” and “your partner died on top of you” so somehow missed “falling in love” 😂
I love Ben looking over at Chris when he said Pawnee lost the equivalent weight of 800 pregnant manatees.😂😂😂 It’s certifiably a bizarre unit of measurement/comparison.😂😂😂
The traditional marriage couple made my own traditional parents wishing to hit the first one with several types of dough rollers. My favorite is the marble one with iron spikes. For pizza.
I can't remember clearly if noticed it when watching the show in the past but man seeing Andy, Tom, and Jamm actually start to become interested in the fan fic at 25:50 made me laugh a bit.
There's a short reality TV show about gay men in Utah called 'My Husband's Not Gay' (or something like that) & Marcia & Marshall would've 100% fit in & not been the craziest couple there.
I have the supertaster gene, which makes vegetables taste more bitter, but ironically, I also landed on the bitter end of the taste spectrum. I love kale.
I know these are stereotypes but i feel like i have seen every single one of these characters in the US, We have some weird people here in Sweden but some of these characters are spot on American Politicians !
“I’m actually a nurse” “That’s great news, I have this thing on my arm-“ I’m a nurse, can confirm this happens whenever you tell anyone you work in healthcare 😂
I love this videos about citizens from my beautiful México... oh no, wait, is a Parks and Recreations video, I hardly manage to discern between this and real life
Funnily enough. Paper towels are actually more sanitary. Mostly, those airblade type ones are good. But a traditional hand dryer blows bacteria on to your hands while a paper towel has mechanical action to scrape some of them off or something. Some random paper I read for a class. Anyways apparently the best is the one Europe uses. The towel thingy. Because instead of throwing it away it cycles into the machine where it can then be removed, sterilized and put back.
Watching the segment where the anti-feminist women and porn stars are on Leslie's side hits different after Trump's 2nd election. That would be a winning team in 2024.
I love how deep the creators of the show got. Actually going to small towns and seeing what the people were like. But then taking it to another level of insanity and creativity.
The creativity was used to not offend people, but the level of insanity at the local level is quite accurate.
The behavior and level of insanity is about on-par, honestly. Especially nowadays
Nah. Nah I’m pretty sure they dialed it down. They removed the crack-inspired insanity and made it PG13.
These people are in the big cities too, you just dont have to interact with them like in small towns
As a former government employee, I'll say it ... honestly, these open forum meetings are really only about 3-5% more crazy than real-life.
There used to be a man that would show up to city council meetings in my city that claimed the community development director was sending her hired thugs to follow him and that she tried to hit him with her car. I’m a retired department head, I always liked the FOIA requests for things that don’t exist.
The tea out of the sprinkler water is my favorite citizen bit. Ron just keeps spinning away from her lol.
Ron in moments like this is just a mood.😆
I love that too
Don't blame him, she literally said she saw the sign about the water, yet made tea from it anyway
8:52 "men have had a very rough go of it for- just recently" kills me every time 😂
And IT. ENDS. NOW.
These characters always gave me a chuckle. I like that they were recurring enough so we could get a vibe on all of them but not overbearing. The writers on this show were peak!
They really explain Ron’s intense hate of government. 😂
Shouldn't he be hating the people of Pawnee and democracy instead?
“We’re not taxing anyone’s genitals.”
“Then what the hell are we doing here?!”
😂😂

“I’m not eating racist salad.” … “Mmm you can really taste the ignorance.” “It’s pronounced ‘anchovies.’” Gold.
It always cracks me up whenever Brandi Maxxxx compares herself to Leslie...every single time.
2:20 the way Ron points at her like she just made a good point. 😂
My favorite part of P&R is when they let the improv bit characters go nuts. It's one of the best parts of the show and makes it way more real than other shows!

25:25 did he create the boba fett tv show for disney 😂😂😂😂
You can look it up, they actually based that scene off of the parks and rec scene! Down to the minute timing!
The Pawnee Residents make Pawnee feel so alive
what I love about this show is spotting actors in citizen roles who made it big years later. On that note, 2:38 : Hey there Coach Beard!
I forgot about the classic film "50 Shaved Old Gays"
“There’s no time! He can fly!”
To anyone who thinks that people like this don’t exist in abundance, they do.
How can you be an American citizen and not believe that?
2:32 Coach Beard thirsting over Ann Perkins
He also shows up in Community as the "Jesus loves marijuana and drinking human blood" hitchhiker.
No waaaaaay you're right
6:25 Ann’s fit is amazing here, I keep rewinding just to look at it
So this is why Ron Hates the government so much, these people can vote

"In the absolute most negative worst most insulting 'You are ugly as sin' way possible."
The "male power" guy is even funnier when you know the comedian is a huge Smiths/Morrissey fan. Like, close to obsessing.
