- The Sunsation Powerboats Team takes delivery of their first Mercury Racing 500R V8 engines and is able to test on all three center console models. The 32CCX, 34CCX, and 40CCX all benefit from this new package, but not without it's challenges. Kyle, Aaron and the team troubleshoot a few issues and get the support they need from the Mercury Racing Team.

You should be flat broke unable to afford a cellphone or internet if you were actually worried about 20% of the kids on the planet being hungry. Yet you probably expect someone else to spend their money to feed someone else's kids but you aren't going to spend your money versus buying shit you don't need to survive.

I would of thought the engine with the misfire issue would of been the inline pencil fuel filters in the inlet at the rigging tube connection .... Glad to see it get figured out. Curious to see if the new props help to lift the bow a bit more, it seemed the 32 was starting to walk around a bit "chime walk" due to it running so flat in calm conditions. 👍👍
Not gonna lie that start up at the beginning of the video sounded great even though it wasn't running right. Sounded like it had a nice cam lope, and at 1:06 almost sounded like a ported rotary

Put spark testers on each wire. Check Temp at each cylinder with handheld. Sound check all injectors. Occam's Razor.

I have an "old" SeaDoo Challenger 1800 with the Mercury M2 240 V6. I would ABSOLUTELY love to Frankenstein this 500R into her and see the results!
Would be horrible to drive, would ruin the characteristics and handling. Also way to heavy

I’m surprised the engines don’t have some kind of water pressure regulator or reliefs.
I know someone with a 288 ? 525 with xr drive. It is a beautiful strong boat.83mph.
My number 2 favorite boat.
322 Velocity 540 bulldog and an M3 is my favorite.
80 thousand and no hose flush/running fitting.. Typical.

any shift actuator problems? i run a 46 invincible with quad 450r and weve gone through 7 shift actuator and a lower unit in under 100 hours
Those 450R’s are notorious for same issues. I have a friend with quad 450R’s and he has replaced 3 lower units in 250 hours.
Do you recommend Twin pro xs 300 v8 or twin verado l6 400sci
i know almost nothing about fluid dynamics but i would think the flat cavitation/ trim plate isnt the best design right above the prop

Raptors you can tune the suspension. Had it set for towing that day.

They shouldn’t be running as flat as you see in the video. The 32CCX still needs some dialing in. PBC did some testing last week that we didn’t get to include in this video, but our waters are frozen so we can’t test right now.

No prop lifts the rear, and the number of blades has nothing to do with bow lift.

They're running a $50k outboard in a $5 plastic tote? Really? Retired 38 year marine tech here.If I was the owner and saw this I would pull my boat out of there immediately.As for all the big manufacturers power,resale, warranty claims,etc. I would always recommend YAMAHA.If you really need 1500 plus horsepower than you should go with big block I.O's ironically Mercury 1350 and 1550's are phenomenal.Even though the current trend is 3-6 outboards from a cost, maintenance,and fuel cost perspective they don't and never will make any sense.

Idk, they aren't meant for surfacing or top speed.
all that $ and you dont have a gtc505 ignition analyzer. saves so much time . can pinpoint injector and spark issues on what cylinder in like 30 seconds!

All boats are fully water tested before they leave the factory or when they are delivered to dealers. An initial fire up in the shop is simply a step in the process.

Mercury reliability is what steered us away from it. Shame too because Mercury's power is superb. We went with Suzuki instead. It's been flawless.
I work on more Suzuki outboards than any other outboard, so your logic is seriously flawed.
Like they say, "Mercury may get you there faster, but a Yamaha will get you back"!
And a fucking Suzuki is my Job security!!!

Curious boat owner I run a 115 merc 2 stroke.....why with all the technology everyone has does the middle motor not run plus there are misfires on the other 2 motors? Aren't those like 50 grand or more apiece? What's the issue? I'll take a good ole mercury 2 stroke any day over one of those "computer" controlled POS. Just saying 😮😊😅😂

If it holds water, it does the trick. Winter in Michigan makes things tough, but spring is near and routine water testing will resume soon!

I'd still rather have Yamahas. Way better quality overall than the "number one on the assembly line" brand.
Never ever owned a Merc!!! Never will!!! Retired marine tech here. I know to much about them, I know how they built them over the years, I know how they would not stand behind them at times, how much more expensive to repair for labor and parts, personally had to many we installed and within minutes blew up. Could keep going by writing a book, but I’m just warning any one that’s thinking about buying. And even as this video shows when blocking the nose cone with Allen screws it could create cavitation and hurting the prop. To me the worst thing they did, we noticed was when Evinrude went under, within one year there parts prices skyrocketed. You want speed and high costs, buy Merc, you want to enjoy your boat, with a lot lower costs and maybe lose a couple MPH, buy Suzuki!
As someone who has owned a few boats with different brands of outboards and a couple friends who also have. I can say that Yamaha has almost as many problems as Merc. Suzuki makes the most reliable outboards.
I work on more Suzuki outboards than any other manufacturer, so y'all are some delusional souls.
Why in the world would you keep your testing in a state that limits your ability to get on the water because of the climate. Move to a warm climate to do this.
We maintain a dealer network that reaches the whole country. When we can’t test, our dealers handle. Michigan is home and we ain’t going anywhere.
Outboards suck. My inboards can be fixed in a few hours in the water and never let me down.

It's a brand new engine, gear case, and prop. They were also limited by props on hand. Once they dial in the first boat, they'll have a blueprint for future ones. But you have to figure it out the first time.
