Biggest problem here is being tied to option packs. Mini used to have a load of individual options. Not any more. Can't get things I want without a pano roof. I hate them. Not sure about the speedo offset to the left, but HUD may compensate for that.
Just to say this is an excellent channel for car reviews. Straight to the point (no daft gimmicks or silly pieces to camera trying to be funny) simply concise and honest data. Best car expert on UA-cam.
The cooperation provides a mini option while the countryman is bigger for a family but still smaller than most SUV's while packing in technology and the fun mini experiences. It is priced competitively in the US.
As my dad says, Mini is brand... not a statement of size. Also the countryman has always had squared off headlights, it's the Hatch that has circular headlights... which it still does on the new model
My 1st thought was - that's a Mini?! I loved the minis when they were first relaunched back in the early 2000s, as they still retained their charm and mini-ness. But over the years they've got more and more bloated both in terms of size and cost. And the price now is eye watering particularly when you add the 'packs' on. I do think that is quite a sneaky way of bumping up the total cost, when a lot of manufacturers already include these items as standard. Personally, I think you're paying a premium for the lifestyle brand that is now Mini. Ironically the Mini is definitely not a mini car anymore. However, I do like the fact they haven't gone for a boring black/grey interior. But even if I could afford one, I certainly wouldn't be ordering one - sorry Mini! Thanks for another great review, Tish😊
Always been a huge fan of Mini Countryman and this model is no different. A few changes needs getting use to,but absolutely love 💕😘 it. The only problem that comes with Mini is the price. The price has always been much to high which takes them right out of the game. Great review Tish as always.👍👌👍👌👍👌.
Lovely, as always, Tish. Because you mentioned at the beginning the front was very reminiscent of a Land Rover, when you got to the back, three quarters, all I could see was Land Rover Freelander! What size engine, and what gearbox, did it have?
The Mini has built its own worldview, and it is hard not to have an interior dominated by excessive minimalism like the VOLVO EX30 or TESLA Model 3. It was nice to see it equipped with a heads-up display.
Great review. I believe this is based on the BMW iX1 chassis? Had that as a courtesy car and it drove very well. Fit & finish looks a class above most other cars. And it seemed incredibly quiet on the move. Would be good if you could always state how long the car you are testing is as it’s hard to tell how small or massive these cars are now.
Funnily enough, I saw one of these in the same colour in a car park just yesterday, and had to double-take at it to check if it really was a Mini or another brand's attenpt at one. I was never a Countryman fan but at least they looked Mini-ish!
Hi Tish I have watched a lot of your reviews and I understand because you explain in simple terms, Wow that mini countryman looks very luxurious inside not what you expect shame they didn't keep the iconic circle headlights 😉

Got this car, and I dislike it after 1 month. Sport seat is awful and gives me back pain. Display is confusing. Cargo space is decent but the width isn’t as good as it should, I can’t fit boogie boards that I was previously able to fit in my 2016 clubman. AC blower unit shakes the steering wheel on higher AC levels. Steering wheel is too small. I’m super mad at all those reviewers that praised the car and completely omitted to notice those details. It’s really disappointing engineering from BMW. Engine is good though, as is the handling.
Hey Tish, I am going to share my thoughts on Mini Countryman's looks from a young motoring journalist POV (or IGCSE student). The front of this Mini looks un-Minish but it has a very bold posture towards it. Especially with the Gold - Silvery bits instead of boring old chrome bits. The wheels looks lovely on the car that you had looks very modern. But when I looked at the smaller wheel options I was stunned. They worked well with the car. The squared off Mini headlamps looks bold and it seems like Mini is preparing to jump into a new era of cars. For £29,000 I think the Mini is a bargain. (especially when a Qashqai cost £27,000. Loved the review as usual and let me know what you think?
A lot of comments are being made that Minis aren’t really mini any longer, and too pricey. Brands have to evolve to survive and grow. Mini is a lifestyle brand, and I thinks it’s fantastic that they have rethought the Countryman. Yes, its size isn’t Mini, but it’s offering a little more room than the previous R60 model. I recently drove the new model, and it really does still feel like a Mini. There is a driving experience that is all its own with Minis, and this still captures that feeling. I have had 2 Countryman over the last 9 years, the R60 and F60, and the F60 was a nice improvement for the initial model. It’s quality and fit and finish is second to none. I’ll be trading in my F60 to order the new JCW Countryman very soon. I love the brand and am pleased they are evolving to be more accessible to a wider audience. If you want to drive something that is wildly different than just about any other vehicle out there, then you should check out a Mini. I’m happy to pay the premium…in my experience they have been totally worth it.
Great video Tish love the looks and new materials hate the price why dont manufacturers design wider opening doors especially when child seats are getting bigger as well . I bet the aceman wont be cheap either
Exterior? Not a fan of the looks. Quite like the blue colour with the gold-ish accents though. I saw Petrol Ped in the JCW Countryman recently and that looked a bit nicer on the outside. Interior though? Absolutely love it! Just the right amount of quirky, maybe less the chunky steering wheel! Cheers Tish :) Edit: actually, the rear end looks good! I think it's just the chunky front end I'm not a fan of
As usual a cracking review Tish but this is unlikely to get onto my list of cars to consider when I decide to change. BMW have done it (yet) again on the exterior styling. They seem to have a knack of ruining the cars looks having done it in the early 2000's and yet again a few years ago. This one isn't too bad though but it's nowhere near as good as the outgoing model in my humble opinion. I have no idea what they were thinking with the 'C' pillar rear side window. Touch screen everything is still a no no but a dedicated area for climate although not as good as direct access buttons is better than going through screen menu's on the move only to wake up in hospital. I'm not a fan of the door trim either, it just looks mucky and the leather isn't leather and I'm not sure about that. Is cloth trim still available? I'll take a look at the spec. I could go on but I'll leave it at that. A nice car without a doubt but as a Mini I think it's just a tad wide of the marque. Many thanks for sharing.
I was supposed to take delivery of an electric Countryman last week……………… thanks to a mess up by the DVLA it’s not possible for dealers to register them and the DVLA cannot be bothered to get their finger out to fix the problem - seems that they prefer to go on holiday for a couple of weeks than fix problems with their vehicle code system that allows customers to take delivery of their new cars. You can get a test drive of a dealer demo on trade plates but if you have parted with your own hard earned cash nobody wants to know.
Great car review Tisch. Anyway, this car is not a Mini. It is not a small city car that anyone can afford and drive. This is a big and expensive car, almost a BMW. If someone is looking for a family SUV, there are far better choices than this one, like the Citroen C5 Aircross and the Ford Kuga.
@@simonmellor4028 How good interior quality do you actually need? If that matters to you that much, you could consider the Ford Kuga V (V for Vignale) which has premium interior quality.
It's absolutely massive and the prices are above the working class unless you don't mind HP. I did have a 21 reg it was a good car and the size was great. But I've been turned off with the Mini brand after multiple issues. Had to change to a used automatic it didn't go well. But the brand new cars are lovely but who on earth can afford the new cars apart from HP and hire car customers.

Poor job, sorry: Couldn't find boot release till 3 tries, 'No through load rear; (wrong: there is a 40/20/40 split. What is "Aug-u-mented reality..." is that a word? (It's augmented....). Love the Mini, though.
Is it not honest of me to show myself not able to access the boot three times rather than cut that out and make it seem like it was easy? Completely understand about the Through loading though and that’s understandable, I’ve done the same on the Tiguan recently, but did eventually find it. The problem is I have a very short amount of time to be able to put these videos together. We’re talking less than a couple of hours so it’s understandable that somethings may not be completely accurate until I live with the car. As for pronouncing augmented incorrectly… now it just feels like you’re being a little pretentious. Pick cop out by mini, making you pay 1k extra to get them. Disgusting by mini
Petrol head and motor trader of 19 years saw one on the road and thought exactly that. Took almost a full second to realise. Of my. The mini is square. Why. It’s almost got a Chinese EV looks about it. Oh No. Less British iconic Mini more follow the pack with tonka toy styling

my brother bought a mini when they were affordable for the masses and FUN, the price he paid was £500 on the road, they are no longer a car for the masses and there are better cars out there for the money
@brianrocks7277 hardly a noteworthy car to raise when considering a BMW product though, surely? Golf, A3, Focus, Fiesta, okay but Suzuki Swift? Come on!
@brianrocks7277 Yes, for the Puma. Just an odd car to raise in this topic. It's like saying the new Macan looks like a Puma. It isn't comparable, and cars have a similar look these days.
They have ruined the inside , have taken all the buttons away, such a bad step ! They should show the basic range , what a joke for the added extras , most of which some manufacturers give as standard!
The front styling is a mess and not sure about the rest of the styling at all. Its kind of boring. Needs proper buttons for climate. Like the seats Don't really like the steering wheel, might be ok in the hand, though. The deal breaker for me is the screens, don't like the position of it all. Not for me, I'm afraid. Great review, though Tish
Minis haven’t been tiny cars for approx 25yrs get over it. It’s a brand, and it has the cues, not so keen on the headlights but the previous CM’s were too. The interior is a triumph, modern and youthful, very MINI! Love the floating screen too
Great report, thank you. But as someone has already said, it looks just like all the other Chinese stuff. Pretty awful, especially that interior.. Do you know when you’ll be posting a review of the new Cooper S? Thanks, Peter
Not mini enough. If you’re going for a car this big there’s more out there with better space, the dash is silly, the price is outrageous. In short it wouldn’t be on my short list - or long list for that matter.
What is it with these car manufacturers that insist on putting everything on a screen🤨 I’ve never sat in a car and thought the buttons for the heating are really inconvenient…….just give us buttons to press when we need heating or air conditioning🤔
Square headlights? Its lost any small amount of "Mininess"it had, which has been disappearing with each generation under BMW. I am not a fan of the latest BMW / Mini styling direction. I am about to remove the only remaining BMW in my small personal fleet, there has always been a BMW product in my garage since 1981.
Previous Countryman (and all F series Mini’s) was a nice looking car especially in the JCW guise. This one is pig ugly , I want to like it but I just can’t . Seen them in the metal as I walk past my local dealership most days. Who sat back after designing this and said that looks good , let’s go and spend billions and get it into production ? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say but this is not for me. Interior though I do like so it’s not all bad. I assume it’s your dog on your phone , looks lovely. Cockapoo ? I’m typing this with my wet Cockapoo sitting on my lap after a muddy walk.
Not a fan of small, quirky cars at all unless it's a hothatch. I like cars that gives you a lot of self-confidence. Small cars won't do it for me, respectfully
As an owner of the previous model, i wouldn't buy this one. I really don't like the absence of driver instruments, for me its far to big, the looks are awful, and then there's the price.
I love it! The boxy look is awesome! It feels grown up

@@da_great_mogul
Fiesta, as you mentioned, is being dropped. Swift is a good alternative. I'm just saying that the front looks similar.
@brianrocks7277 Yes, for the Puma. Just an odd car to raise in this topic. It's like saying the new Macan looks like a Puma. It isn't comparable, and cars have a similar look these days.
EV? Not me. Petrol 4 ever
Looks like too much german in my eyes. I agree with you Tich, old Countryman was better. 😊👍
Electric cars are a dead duck in the UK.
They have ruined the inside , have taken all the buttons away, such a bad step ! They should show the basic range , what a joke for the added extras , most of which some manufacturers give as standard!
Like a family suv interior 😂😂
Outgoing version is far superior. And they have to start shrinking these cars not expanding them. A total fail.
The front styling is a mess and not sure about the rest of the styling at all. Its kind of boring.
Needs proper buttons for climate.
Like the seats
Don't really like the steering wheel, might be ok in the hand, though.
The deal breaker for me is the screens, don't like the position of it all.
Not for me, I'm afraid.
Great review, though Tish
Should be called a maxi!! Disappointed that they made it wider and taller! Such a shame!!😢😢
Yes I agree, they could have even added a car to the lineup that was bigger, rather than bloat the countryman
Nice suzuki.
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I particularly like the New Design and Style 😊
great review as always, but BMW have ruined the Mini's for sure.....too big, boxy and £££££££
Tell me about it
It’s not lehvah (leather). Didn’t you do any prep? MINI use their proprietary Vescin vegan leather. No animal products and no chrome any more.
I love the interior, it’s the exterior that’s horrible to me.
It’s a shame it’s lost its look it is over styled now and yes the headlamps look like the new Suzuki swift to me
Great looking car and the interior is even better, Mini needed this clean fresh start. PS Great review.
It looks like a Chinese London taxi
Either the presenter is tiny or that thing is MAHOOOOSIVE
Not mini enough. If you’re going for a car this big there’s more out there with better space, the dash is silly, the price is outrageous. In short it wouldn’t be on my short list - or long list for that matter.
What is it with these car manufacturers that insist on putting everything on a screen🤨 I’ve never sat in a car and thought the buttons for the heating are really inconvenient…….just give us buttons to press when we need heating or air conditioning🤔
Mini have knocked it out the park with the new Mini, thanks Tish👍💪😉
Small cars won't do it for me, respectfully
where’s it made
As an owner of the previous model, i wouldn't buy this one. I really don't like the absence of driver instruments, for me its far to big, the looks are awful, and then there's the price.
