I had a pork roll from this place earlier this year and it was amazing. I used to live in Marrickville during my primary school years in the 90s and when I paid a visit there this year, it has changed completely, no wonder it got named one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world.
Finally got to visit here and it did not disappoint! It was amazing…The line went really quick. The girls behind me in line said they were there because of Sydney Food Boy!I said I’m from Melbourne and I here because of him!👍
Great video dude! Sad I haven't had Sydney banh mi in a couple years but this series is surely gonna fill me in on where I should be looking next time I'm in the city! Very charismatic, great soundtrack choice, well edited & hot damn, the angles you got on that pork roll were killer at bringing banh mi cravings to a peak.
Yum, love that your supporting local! I’m sure you already know but if you’re ever in Melbourne, you must visit Selina hot bread in Sunshine for their banh mi… one of my top 3 for sure!!
Looks absolutely delicious plenty of ingredients. How much did it cost ? The price can very, and some rolls can be a little stingy on the filling. I also like lots of pate and mayo which makes it juicy. A good roll, Is a meal on its own. Thank you 😊
This is easily my top 3 pork rolls in Sydney. The pro and con of this is the strong flavour, from the special soy sauce, to the pickled salad there is a flavour explosion in your mouth after each bite, which might be too much for those used to the more subtle Cabra pork rolls. The classic pork roll meat seems to be on the less fatty and more higher quality side which I prefer
Dan Hong says to ask for extra pate, extra mayo and extra meat balls. I just don't want to look like a piggy lol Looks delish. I haven't tried Marrickville Pork Roll yet. It does look well stuffed. I did have pork rolls from Cabramatta over the weekend. Four for $15! It was great as the bread roll was really good. The Vietnamese pork meatballs are cooked in a tomato sauce. Recipes can be found online. Thanks for sharing. Great review!
Hey man I know St Marys doesn’t have the best reputation as a suburb lol but trust me there’s a bakery there called ‘Monfarville Bakery’. They have the best crispy pork rolls pls review it 😁
I totally rate King's in Hurstville - the best chicken roll in my opinion. I find the Marrickville Pork Roll has very greasy pork fat in the sauce but the vegetables and pickles are tops!
I had the crackling pork belly roll at Marrikville pork roll today and i wish i watched your video first before i went. I watched Mark Wiens one and said how good it is. For me, It is the worst crackling pork roll i ever have in Sydney. Too little crackling and meat. So disappointed. Thanks for your honesty. You are the one i will watch for food blog from now.
bruh, I feel the same way about Marrickville every visit haha. Consistently amazing. Still my favourite. Gotta try the meatball hack. I also always buy a tub mayo & liver pâté there every visit haha.
Alex n Rolls is so much better than Marrickville pork rolls ,which I find overated. Only negatives are you never know when they are open and their very slow customer service and long waits but after the frustration you will be amazed at their flavours .
@@SydneyFoodBoy Yes I totally understand your frustration.lol They always seemed closed on random days ,but when they did open they were having longer queues of people than Marrickville pork rolls and they also did other meals . I used to live in Enmore, which was like a 15 min walk from here, so it was a very dangerous situation. Miss this one a lot! Do you think this is the best pork roll in the inner city (like within 20 mins of cbd)? I haven’t tried anything that has rivalled it.
@@SydneyFoodBoy that’s fantastic to hear you think it is the best in Sydney! I always thought so too. I used to live in Marrickville and miss this so much
@@SydneyFoodBoy the one where it's next to a BBQ meat shop I think on John street. In the alley ways. The bread roll taste better but not enough filling but the bread roll is good
Hey good if u did food tours lol. Eg pick a day and set a menu for lunch and dinner. People sign up and pre pay . And u take them around in a van even with ur face as a cartoon logo. Fun day.
LOL not sure about how good id look as a cartoon 😂 I thought about it at some stage but don't have enough time to put in 110% into it at the moment, maybe an idea for the future!
Stop it - I want to come back to Sydney for Banh Mi. By the way Marrickville wasn't like that 20 odd yrs ago. Can you do a video on Kensington St in Central Park at Broadway
@@SydneyFoodBoy You will get fat soon friend. Why don't you try Wholemeal Bread instead. .. . Nothing out of the ordinary. In fact this place is same same…and you DO get better value buying one of these from most OTHER SE Asian bakeries in SPECIFICALLY western Sydney. I’ve eaten PLENTY of these from all over Sydney and quite frankly after eating two versions of this popular SE Asian sandwich at this very place can say it’s nothing special and again you will get better value at your local typical bread shop that sell these…Sydney ESPECIALLY places like Marrickville for stuff like this appears to be a ripoff…forget standing in a line that I didn’t see when I was there only to be greeted by an over priced predicable pork n salad preparation.….Sydney for the most part is a ripoff…

I definitely prefer that too, I hate when the meat is all fat. It's definitely my pick for the best classic pork roll - banh mi thit
Omg they really are generous with their portions sizes 😂😂 I always see a huge line there
For real!!! Definitely one of the best places for the classic banh mi Cynthia! Have you tried?
Great video! And top Ryde looks like no1 for sure….best banh mi outside of Sydney is The Laughing Elephant in Wentworth falls, it’s a bit different
One of my favourite. But hong ha wins for me due to the crispy roll!!
I agree. Hong Ha hands down! Best airy buns and their sauce and pate are the bombdiggity!
