My old hardy Chicago fig tree kept being attacked by rabbits over the winter & ended up dying years ago. Recently I finally broke down & got a replacement when Home Depot had them on sale with a daily deal. I wanted a more mature one that would bear fruit this season, hopefully it will. It looks old enough to fruit, but they pruned it back hard when they shipped it to me. I also bought an Olympian fig tree that is also supposed to be more cold tolerant than most fig varieties, it wasn't pruned back and already has 5 figs coming in. I haven't decided yet if I want to bring them inside every winter like I do our citrus trees, or protect them from the cold before leaving them outside all winter. Zone 6A seems to have hotter summers & colder winters these days . . .
