I personally think that giving youngsters a smartphone without any supervision is a lazy out for many parents. Would they give the kid a gun (even if without bullets) and expect them to know what to do with it? 2. Parents referred to in #1 above may themselves be addicted to smartphones and the various social media apps on them. 3. Instagram, FB and UA-cam make billions of dollars exploiting people and their information. Through grassroots movements, it is possible to fight these evils. But, is the world ready to fight almighty dollar?? PS. I only use YT and only access YT using my browser, especially after the YT app forced pornographic-sounding advertisements to enhance my sexual life - No, thanks. I stopped using FB/Insta several years ago, simply because they were addictive and a huge waste of my time. I used to message two groups of friends and my family before. I have cut it down now - only siblings. I will get rid of WA also soon for the same reason. Instead I will call people on the phone.
