Michael Jackson approved and very much loved this cover of his song. ❤
Yep MJ approved
Thanks for watching ❤️
Yep for sure. This band has some other good songs that most people never listened too cause they technically weren't hits. Great cover!
Yup, right b4 the king of pop passed. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
MJ caused this to be an insanely expense video. When MJ saw the original cut, he didn't like some of it and caused them to re-shoot almost half. Once MJ saw the 2nd cut he decided he liked the first one better. It took him 6 months to get back with his "blessing," and the video was almost scrapped.
To me, this is the greatest cover song and tribute to an artist of all time.
Agreed. IMO this is the best cover ever made. Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt is maybe the only thing that is even close to it.
The monkey is a shoutout to Michael Jackson's pet chimp "Bubbles." (Are you too young too remember Bubbles, maybe?) He and Bubbles are sitting in a chair shaped like a silver glove!
The entire thing is an homage to Michael Jackson and there are references to multiple MJ songs in the video. When this came out in the early 2000's MJ was still with us and would have to greenlight this cover; so, he must have liked it!
Thanks for watching ❤️
@@o.gyanchiii8323not only did MJ approve but he gave them input on the video and MJ loved this cover
My favorite Michael easter egg is the Elizabeth Taylor tattoo at the end. Liz and Mike were close friends.
Please, the chimp is an ape not a monkey 😭
Yeah...he didnt just like it, he LOVED it from the interview I saw.
You have to show it to every Michael fan, one of the greatest cover songs.
Thanks for watching ❤️
I don't even know another person or group that covered a Jackson song so well.
@@Wearywastrelu should check out the el estepario siberiano cover it's awesome
This music video is the purest love letter to Michael Jackson ever made.
Thanks for watching ❤️
@@o.gyanchiii8323These things you're mentioning are from MJ's videos, the monkey is because MJ had a monkey named Bubbles, the drummer was wearing his signature glove, the chair that the lead singer was sitting in is also a replica of the glove, the car stunt is from The Way You make me feel video, the steam, dirty Diana video, The guy doing weird dancing is from the Thriller vid, lighting sidewalk, Billy Jean video and so on. Not only did MJ approve this, he loved it. Loved your reaction. They have another one you should check out called Movies 😊
Close to 15 references to Michael at least name them all. Michael said he enjoyed the song very much
Thanks for watching ❤️
Totally was MJ approved. One of the best tributes to an artist ever. Great cover. I love this song!
Thanks for watching ❤️
I love that the girl in the wolf mask with the leather at the beginning was a nod to thriller. Pretty cool. So many tributes to MJ in this video! Early 2000s is when i hear this song for the first time. I was in my mid 20s loved it. Love them. Love them still.
Thanks for watching ❤️
You can tell when something was made with love and respect. This was made with love and respect for the King of Pop and he loved it
I saw it in 2001 when the video came out on MTV
Love this cover has stayed this strong after 14 years
Thanks for watching ❤️
This is 23 years old, came out in 2001.
I think Movies by Alien Ant Farm is another great song of theirs. It's impossible to top this, but I do think it is a great song and it grooves real good.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Movies is great. I also like These Days and Glow
Courage is an amazing song
The guy at the end with the eyes is a nod to Thriller
Thanks for watching
That was Flea, from Red Hot Chili Peppers
@outvoted2011 Unfortunately, it's not.
So much homage to MJ in this video! Thanks for the reaction
Thanks for watching ❤️
This song/video was most people’s first introduction to Alien Ant Farm
Thanks for watching ❤️
And last
@@scottapache5041 not really.
Pentatonix “Evolution of Michael Jackson”…. It will NOT disappoint!!!
Thanks for watching ❤️
This is one of the best covers ever. And the homage they pay to MJ in the video is epic. Love this so much!
MJ, Raised by him & The Jacksons.
Just love any form of music with soul & a purpose........
I heard that how they got permission to do this song... Is AAFs bass player knew one of Mike's long time drummers... The drummer told Mike "They get it" Mike said okay.
Thanks for watching ❤️
One of the most favourite songs of my life..... back when lmao.....
Thanks for watching
AAF is legendary for the way they treated this song
You need to check out their song “These Days”. It was filmed when they crashed the BET Awards. And it was after the band got into a major accident where the singer broke his neck. It was a ballsy move to announce they’re still around.
Thanks for watching ❤️
FIRST!!!..We always ALL been together in music, its the industry that keeps us divided!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Notice that the video included almost every type of person in it, just like a back yard keg party!😊
Thanks for watching ❤️
Now THIS is a reaction! This is what a reactor is supposed to do! Love it man. SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Same!
The dude at the end is bass player for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The kid was dancing in front of the Jackson household. The lean is a bolt in the floor slipped into a heel notch of a special kind of shoe that supports your ankle more.
Thanks for watching ❤️
That's not Flea at the end.
If you've ever played in a band, at practice you always jam on tunes you like. That's what happen here, they started just jamming on it...and kept going. The respect for MJ is massive here.
Yeah, there's actually an interview where they said they had no formula, some record guy heard the song randomly, a radio station began to play it randomly, and even during the filming of the music video, the director would just make up ideas on the spot and go with them (The yellow eye contact Thriller reference being one)...
Thanks for watching ❤️
Thanks for watching ❤️
There are so many visual links to MJ's music videos, at the time this came out, People were stoked to watch and spot the references.
Thanks for watching
This song is how I first heard this song! I did not know it was a cover for a while!
Thanks for watching
That little kid is iconic
Thanks for watching ❤️
That's Bubbles Bro 😎😎 plus.. The Glove his sitting in. Nahh they did MJ Right. That's a Homage and a Half 😎👍💪
Thanks for watching ❤️
Ooooowwww!
Thanks for watching ❤️
a ton of easter eggs for Michael Jackson!!!! big tribute!!!!
Thanks for watching ❤️
The little boy is wearing a mask to represent when Michael got his work done.
This song is the reason people think the OG lyrics were "hit by struck by"
Thanks for watching ❤️
I love your reaction to this video! I’m the same age as MJ so I love the original but I seriously love Alien Ant Farm’s too.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Love this cover song so much. They are all amazing artists. The bass player is beyond top-notch. They have a video for a softer, but just as awesome song, called ATTITUDE.
Thanks for watching ❤️
The little white kid dancing is in front of MJs house as a kid in Indiana.
The band's cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" topped the Billboard Alternative songs charts in 2001, and was featured in the film American Pie 2. Alien Ant Farm posing with fans in 2015. From left to right: Terry Corso, Dryden Mitchell, Tim Peugh, Mike Cosgrove.
MJ collaborated with them for this song.
Also the little kid dancing at the beginning was performing in front of the Jackson’s childhood home.
I'd always loved this song! I heard this version in college, early 2000s. ❤
it happened at the party!!!!
Thanks for watching ❤️
they rocked it, and so many different elements of MJ in the mix.
Thanks for watching
Got a huge smile for your whole reaction, really enjoyed it. This was great at the time when it came out…too funny. They definitely paid tribute to Michael throughout.
Thanks for watching
Epic by Faith No More
Thanks for watching ❤️
this is what fun is when you go out in the 80 and 90 s
Thanks for watching ❤️
Bangin cover!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Bassist needs a shout for nailing them high notes
The video for their song "Movies" has a lot of this tribute vibe to it also. The party atmosphere, and tribute sections to pay homage to those movies we grew up with in the 80's and early 90's.
Thanks for watching
I've been into these guys since they came out... Did get to see them in concert years ago along with the band 311....
Thanks for watching ❤️
💜💜ur response
Thanks for watching ❤️
I listened to this nonstop when it came out. ngl, I didn't know it was an MJ song until my mom told me. Nothing else they ever did got me, they really killed it on this
Thanks for watching
So many tips of the hat to Michael
Thanks for watching
I don't know when I first heard these guys, but I was there the day the lead singer destroyed his carreer.
It was a summer tour and the dude picked an argument with the wrong guy. That was their summer, they were on top with this song, but when they came here, they were basically the warm up for a local band, that was a bigger deal here. Well, the lead singer decided to throw a fit because they were "A bigger band". To the guy running the show... Who also happened to be the manager for this local band. They stuck these guys into the worst timeslot on the worst stage. If a hundred people had seen them perform that day, I would be surprised. After that, they quickly dwindled into obscurity.
You should check out The Drop Kick Murphies. Any song.
Thanks for watching
This guy seems to only be giving Thanks for Watchings, but I like the story :) I was checking to see if anyone had listed all the references to the other michael videos, but I think I only so 3 of them so far. Then I saw this. :) It's always a damn shame when you think someone's going to blow up and they don't. I remember at the same time as No Doubt getting out there with "Just a Girl," the band Bif Naked released "Moment of Weakness" and one got the exposure and the other didn't. I still love Bif Naked, but No Doubt will be the one others remember. ;)
this song is the first of the band that i heard like most peoples, it's an hommage song with a tone of diferents references to MJ ( the glove, the dance, the monkey, the eyes, the mask, ETC... you can call it an homage song i became pretty interested in the band when i discovered this song and they have much more like "glow" or "these days" les membre "present" du groupe sont Dryden Mitchell Terry Corso Tim Peugh & Mike Cosgrove but some of the peoples in this vid are no longuer member of the band like tye zamora ( bass) but the singer dryden michell is still exepte these two i don't know much about the members!
Thanks for watching ❤️
The white house that the little boy in yellow is dancing in front of is MJ's childhood home. I lived 20 min away most my life.😊😊
Love the positive vibes in your reactions. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching ❤️
I believe in yo dreams, subbed. Keep it going, homie
I appreciate that means a lot Thanks for watching ❤️
This song is about 14 years old, love this version
The little boy dancing, did the original Smooth Criminal dance from the video
I used to rehearse at the same studio as these guys. They were totally cool and always had the good 🌿
Your energy is great. You had me laughing so much!
Thanks for watching ❤️
checkin in...
Thanks for watching ❤️
First time checking these guys out was in their practice room with the homies in Riverside CA 🤘😎 this is probably the best thing they've ever done. But they do have a few original bangers
Thanks for watching ❤️
This video had a lot of Michael Jackson references in from Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Black or White's panther scene even Thriller with the girl wearing the wolf mask. Even the monkey is a reference to Bubbles, Michael's monkey.
Thanks for watching
Love your reaction, now onto Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Thanks for watching ❤️
I’m just one 80’s girl that helped make “Thriller” the best selling album of all time. I was also Janet in the Rhythm Nation video for Halloween.
Thanks for watching ❤️
I saw them back in the early 2000s when they just got on the radio. At the Show They said they had just put out the song movies beforehand and everybody forgot about it when they heard smooth criminal LOL it was at the Colorado music Hall in Colorado springs a super small venue with lots of crowd participation it was an excellent show. got to meet the band they are some really cool guys.
Thanks for watching
My man
Thanks for watching ❤️
The music video is full of homages to various MJ songs:
The "lean" is from the original _"Smooth Criminal"_ video.
The guys sitting in the lawn chairs stand up and doing the "Thriller" dance
The light-up sidewalk, the exploding car, even the monkey is a reference to Bubbles (MJ's pet monkey).
The first time I heard this song was in 2002/2003 while I was in college. I was at my apartment and up late one night (when I should've been in bed...class next day) and I was watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien. AAF were the guest music act that night and they played this song.
Thanks for watching
The "Lean" is from "The Wizard of Oz". The Tin Man did it in 1939!
@@regularsizeruss3874 Ok Mr. Pedantic, but the "lean" IN THIS VIDEO is from "Smooth Criminal."
@@sixstanger00 I'd rather be pedantic than not.
@@regularsizeruss3874 Ok sure, but being compulsively pedantic doesn't make you right.
His expression, demeanor, and jerky movements are a punk thing. They were kinda an alternative punk/alternative metal band.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat It with John Mayer is pretty dang good too man. Both songs do Michael justice.
THE TRUTH TO MUSIC IS MATH
Thanks for watching ❤️
paying respects to one of the greats
I remember this from when it first came out lol. the chimp is also an homage to Michael. That was Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers at the end.
Thanks for watching
Micheal Jackson saw this before he passed & actually helped with the content of the video with the references to him🎶🎸🎶
Thanks for watching ❤️
If you happen to be in Las Vegas April 12th. Alien Ant Farm will be "live" on Fremont Street. Part of the free concerts on Fremont Street in April. Be there!

I wish more people knew a lot of Rock/Metal guitar comes from the blues...
Most RnB could be played on guitar to sound like rock music.

Released: 2001
Artist: Alien Ant Farm
Genres: Alternative rock, Nu metal
Movies by Alien Ant Farm is good too. The remade video where they actually had a budget is pretty fun
Thanks for watching ❤️
Michael was a metal fan which is why he used metal guitarists like Steve Stevens on tracks like Dirty Diana and Stevens worked with Billy Idol and Michael’s last guitarist was Orianthi and she was Alice Cooper’s guitarist
Beat it with Eddie Van Halen
Thanks for watching ❤️
Eddie Van Halen and Slash.
This cover was nothing but love of Michael.
Thanks for watching ❤️
I first grooved to this song probably around the time you were born, I suspect. It's always been one of my faves
Thanks for watching ❤️
Love this version & all the nods to MJ- soo many Easter eggs in this video! MJ glove he’s sitting on, the monkey is representing MJ monkey Bubbles, all the stuff their doing is from MJ music videos

So many references to Micheal in this video. FIRE video!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Have you already done the Pentatonix MJ medley? They cover most of his songs. I think youd love it if you haven't seen it yet.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Funny how people say they are Micheal fans but don't catch the monkey is supposed to be bubbles and the chairs is the one glove that the light up sidewalk is from Billie Jean and so on and so on.
Thanks for watching ❤️
I saw these guys live open up for Papa Roach in like 97 or 98 and it was the first time I had heard them. They played this song and it was amazing. I remember leaving there and always remembering this cover. Then when they dropped it on the album it was on.
Thanks for watching ❤️
This has to be the busiest video ever.

He's sitting in the MJ glove with MJs chimp, Bubbles!
