He‘s clearly dying inside trying to recreate the requiem

I can't believe Eddy just listened to it once and reproduced the requiem almost perfectly... and Brett just composed a requiem for a masterpiece.
They both have definitely heard it before.
Brett composed some necromancy music.
I can't tell which is funnier, Brett using his own voice for the choir or that Eddy's initial reaction to it was fear.

So many said that Eddy is like the one who nails it without trying. In fact, I always think he tries very hard every time because he sets a high goal for himself. He always says its stressful because he is aiming for perfection. I dont think its because he is competitive, more like he gets conscious and anxious when not performing up to his standard. Just my thoughts.

Fun fact: twoset shared this around Mozart's day of death (and didnt even mention it). To honour Mozart, the Requiem is regularly played in Vienna's churches and cathedral but especially on his hour of death. I recommend that - amazing experience.

I'll just add an interesting fact for those who might not know this. This piece was actually not (predominantly) composed by Mozart, who died before being able to finish it. He only drafted some of the first orchestra bars and a tiny bit of vocal lines (basically just "Lacrimosa, dies illa"), so the majority was composed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr, one of Mozart's students.
I'll just add that Mozart wrote the first 8 measures of the piece to be more exact and had a little bit of a fughetta for the word "Amen" that was supposed to be at the end of the lacrimosa but wasn't used at all. You can find the original version of the fughetta and there's at least 4 attempts at finishing it. Other details, such as rough sketches, things shared with friends, wife and his pupil Sussmayr before he died or MAYBE even written indications of ideas or harmony may have been there too as it was the case for other movements in the Requiem but I don't remember enough about this to be precise.
Sus
SÜSSMAYR?????
@@BRUH-ny4iq Sus
*Martin Ptáček* Naah, you can actually hear where Mozart died and Süssmayr had to step in to scribble an end to the piece.
Mozart created at least the basic melodies up till the 'Lacrimosa' and possibly the 'Sanctus' part.
But it becomes a bit repetitive after that.

At this point we have to call Brett’s skills in garage band a talent. His reliable ability to create new horror themes, albeit unintentionally, is a talent.
It's not brett's fault por coming up with these "masterpieces" (at least not entirely). While Eddy is using garageband on a computer, Brett's using it in his Ipad,. I've used both before, and it's definetely not the same. Garageband mobile has some serious timing problems, when you record a digital instrument perfomance it usually gets messed up. Also, it's a little bit harder to change notes manually (instead of recording live), like Eddy did. Also, the computer version of Garageband has a lot more digital instruments than the mobile version, that's why Brett had to record his voice while Eddy had the option of recording a digital choir. It would be much more fair to have them use the same computer at different times to record this (but it would be less fun, as we wouldn't get these masterpieces)
Eddy used his mom's ipad for the sabre dance (which was set to Chinese for an added challenge). But I agree that garage band on an ipad is awful
Brett’s work ethic really resonates with my school work: strive for perfection and re-recording (but perhaps using the wrong method) realise the deadline is approaching and fuck it just rush through things, only to realise I forgot to start recording the process
This is so accurate it’s painful and oh so true in many ways that I wish it wasn’t… I’m so sorr-*WHEEZE*

Little tip to Eddy: In a 4-part choral style you’d want to listen to the outside voices, so soprano and bass. This will usually be enough to infer the harmony.
Exactly. The bass line is quite easy compared to trying to listen for the Alto and Tenor lines :)
You can’t really believe he doesn’t know this basic fact… He is listening to the orchestra as well.
That's true *mopes in alto*
Eddy uses the soprano mode and brett just goes for it😂
6:18 Do you think brett should join an opera...lol :P ?
I’m always SO excited to hear Brett’s composing
Edit: and it never disappoints 😂
Eddy's music production skills is actually good and all but boy does Brett seriously encapsulated the essence of mozart's requiem. He literally decided to just experience it just like how it was when mozart's time is up
hhhhhhhhh this is so good
Yes ofcourse because he can record playing it, but he doesn't seem to know anything about mixing and mastering
A important tip for these kinds of challenges: Listen to the Bass!
Often you can infer the Harmony from the Bassline, most of the few mistakes eddy made could have been solved if he remembered the bassline.
For instance in the first meassure of the main theme (where the choir joins in) he harmonizes incorrectly with two beats of d minor followed by two beats of the dominant. The mistake was a missing e diminished chord on beat 3. If he knew that the basses play an E at beat 3, he could have inferred the correct chord, since the only other plausible choice - A major - is very unlikely because in the classical era the dominant chord is rarely played over it's fifth.
So remember to listen to the Bass!
(not sponsored by the Bass Gang)
dang thanks for the tip! my friend also told me to listen to the bass if i want to figure out chords of pop songs, but my tone deaf ass can only listen to the top part of the chord lol
I love seeing how fast Eddy's expression change listening to Brett's masterpiece at 10:42 🤣🤣🤣
I can definitely see Eddy spent some of his quarantine time practicing how to use GarageBand! It looked like a different app comparing to Brett's.
I thought Brett's singing is very on spot so I kinda wish he kept the first recording!
Mac version vs iPad version. That's why they looked different.
@@MaggaraMarine Ah no wonder. But I guess their skills in editing also made it seemed like different app, or perhaps they can't move note value like Eddy does in iPad version?
@@helenwong4230 They are basically the same app and have pretty much the same features - they are simply a bit different to use. So yes, Eddy does know what he's doing, and Brett doesn't.

Also they need to do a challenge where they try to a score a cinematic style piece that is a few mins long. They would each be given a movie theme (musical, action, etc) and a fake plot and then use garage band to score an opening or title song within an hour.
They are both geniuses.
So many things in this video: Eddy is soo wholesome when listening to music; their constant smile when they are calling eachother on the phone; the way Eddy always points out positive things in Bretts version although we all know its like a horrormovie soundtrack; the editors comments,…..

Brett representing the entire choir is a piece of art.
I just about died laughing when Brett’s singing part came in
I love Brett’s pleased smile at 10:48. He looks so proud XD
I won't laugh at Brett's strange outcome - the idea of just recording himself singing the choir is clever and would actually work if he knew all the parts. His vocal range also would have been big enough.
Also, I cannot express how much I love that Brett used his own voice.

Brett: the probably-deeply-disturbed accidental genius
