I have moved onto using the Ricoh/Fujitsu Scanners now. The Epson is not a bad product and got the job done for the price point ( listed around 15,000 card with it) but it doesn't really work for cards in top loaders which even the lower cost fi-8040 does (although its a bit more than the Epson). -Ricoh (formerly Fujitsu) FI-8040 Document Scanner (lower cost): amzn.to/3O8ZAqk -Ricoh (formerly Fujitsu) FI-8170 Document Scanner (higher cost): amzn.to/44Gr0cw -Ricoh (formerly Fujitsu) SV600 Overhead Scanner (for Graded Cards and Patch Cards/RPAs): amzn.to/43kkwis
I put all cards in top loaders to prevent damage. How much time can you save if you still have to organize and insert pics and descriptions on eBay. It doesn't automatic sort pics and descriptions. I can imagine having to search through 1000s of pics on a computer to find the player you want versus taking a few photos we a phone.
Hey Jmac Thanks for the video's as normal. I found a little better way to scan the Chrome card so they don't look back. So when you go to settings. Click > Advanced Settings then put the Brightness to 90% to 100%, Contrast 0 and the Gamma to max which is 3.0 then click save. Then scan a chrome card see if its better. I spent a couple hours messing around and this is what works the best for my ES 400. Hope it helps you some. Being you help me a lot with all the video's. Thanks
I have scanned several hundred 35pt top loaders through my ES-400 II. I use the manual feed method and have zero issues with the wheel out and double feed settings off. Thanks to your first video showing the double feed setting I kept my scanner. I had it packed up and the return process started. Thank you
I noticed this same exact line appearing on cards @12:51 down the left side of the card when scanning with no penny sleeve. I supposed I Will be using penny sleeves feeding 1 by 1
I think I figured out how to get rid of the scan lines. I just purchased this scanner a week ago and I was about to rip out my already thin hair after persistent scan lines. After A LOT of trial and error, I discovered that this scanner is SUPER sensitive to any sort of dust particles. It's amazing how much dust can land on the glass after each scan (or how much is even on the penny sleeves). I have a micro fiber cloth and air duster can ready after each scan and if I notice a line, I see where it would line up in the glass, wipe it off/blow it off and re-scan....removing the lines...at least for 1 or 2 more scans then I have to repeat the process over again, lol.
I have a Cannon. It won't let me do anything with penny sleeves. I have noticed once in a while the newer card will have a little mark on it. I probably need to change scanners..
Subscribed recently and bought this scanner a couple of weeks ago replacing my sheet feed scanner. Did find that if you rotate the chrome cards sideways it would usually get rid of the white lines. Great video.
For me its a keeper :) I've scanned about 4.5K cards with it so far and been mostly happy with the process/results. Some cards will come out dark (reflective silvers don't do well) but overall, the scans usually look nice. Cheers, Julien
Very helpful video, I currently have an Epson V-600 that I use, its good in that I can scan thicker cards, but it does take longer only being able to do a couple of cards at a time. I'm going to have to look into one of these when I finally get to the point where I can scale up my listings from where I am currently.
Awesome video. 👍Im using the fujitsu 7130 and it seems identical to your epson. I find that that the BCW penny sleeves work best for all cards. Placing tcards in sideways works best without the roller, It may help minimize jamming.
Can anyone tell me if there is the ability to see the measurements for the item you’ve scanned? I was hoping there was a way to show a measurement bar next to the photo for size.. is this an option? Thank you!

@JMac Sports Cards no quicklist is a program you can use from tcgplayer if you have pro. It was released like 5 to 7 years ago and it supported flat scanners and the ix500 scansnap and Webcam. They bought out a company that made a sorter, the roca sorter a 25k machine and made a scanner app. Now quick list only "supports" Webcam but some scanners still get recognized and are able to be used like the scansnaps. I was hoping that the epson one would be "supported" but sadly it's not and with ebay buying tcgplayer I can definitely see them releasing a program like quicklist that id's cards and places them into your inventory. Been dabbling with this unfortunately mine has scratch lines which is maddening. Fine with penny sleeves but automating is difficult. Also not having the CCD sensor hurts getting a fujitsu to try and hopefully no scratches on that
I’m just making honest reviews on stuff and the Epson for the price point is perfectly fine and has my eBay up to over 10k listings and have sold around $30,000 plus worth of cards that were scanned through it in just under 6 months. I could be like some folks and only be all positive or all negative but I prefer to be non bias and honest and talk about the pros and the cons. Most folks, as proven by the success of my two videos on the epson, don’t want to spend $1000 on a scanner, it’s unnecessary unless it’s in the budget. Have a great day.
@@JMacSportsCards yea ik but I myself have used both. The Fujitsu is far superior. Sold 15 thousand cards last year and the amount of hassle that the Epson has is a time waste. I get it if you have a limited budget but if your biggest bottle neck is not inventory and your trying to get through the most cards with the least problems the Fujitsu is the way to go. In other words I need to wipe/clean the Epson ES 400 II after each and every scan which is definitely not an option for a new scanner with ~1K scans total... Most likely this one will go back to Epson too
I have a $1000 dollar a month eBay business which ain't much but I do it for fun. And I don't use a scanner.
Right on, no right or wrong way to do this really. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Been dabbling with this unfortunately mine has scratch lines which is maddening. Fine with penny sleeves but automating is difficult. Also not having the CCD sensor hurts getting a fujitsu to try and hopefully no scratches on that
just buy the fujitsu lol. so much easier than the rickydink epson
Pats for itself in a month and I need the tax deduction anyways lol
@@southdaytontradingco I don’t disagree with ya
Which one do you recommend? I've seen a few models floating around.
@@redbirdsjunkie I have the newest Fujitsu 8170? Or something like that
