excellent job. love the colour and grain pattern of the handle. knowing you salvage an old tree stump to make this will make you smile every time you use this tool. best wishes to you
Thank you Steve :) I love taking part in this. The person that won my entry from last year really liked it. It's great to help people starting out :) ॐ
Chris, buddy, this is astounding. I was actually thinking of looking up a video to make one of these this past week. I'm not sure if I'm as patient and committed as you are, but you always give me food for the soul with your videos. I like going back to square one. Too many now are jumping onto the CNC bandwagon, allowing something else do the work for them. Thanks for keeping things true to nature.
Thank you Rob :) I would love to see what you make. You could enter it into these challenges :) I often make two of such items and keep one and give one to someone else, but I only had about an hour for this build. I like it so much, I will make another for the workshop. I plan to make another also as part of a future giveaway ॐ
Thank you Ned :) The diamond stones are really thin and the cheapest I could find on ebay, but they work really well. I have them mounted to a plate of glass using double sided tape ॐ
Great job Yogi! I love that little tool! Another tool that you showed me how to make. I know I will be making one of these too!! Good luck on the contest too!! Blessings
Thank you Stephan :) I preferred to use the varnish, because I wasn't too happy with the danish oil as a finish on the tool in the end. It brought out the grain well, but it seemed too dull ॐ
I used to use shellac many years ago and I love the finish, but I have been a pure vegetarian for very long time and try avoid using animal products. I don't really discuss this as it is my life choice and each person needs to decide what works best for them. I do have a product called Hard Top Oil that is also en71-3 and I will try it on the next tool I make to see how it goes :) ॐ
Congratulations Yogi on winning a couple of really great prizes and making it into the Mitch's favorite 4 picks! Great work!
Thank you my friend :) I really enjoyed making it ॐ

Thank you Billy :) ॐ
Excellent result Chris - quite remarkable that you did all that using no power tools!
Thank you Rob :) I prefer to use hand tools when I can. I don't mind using power tools, but the end result feels more natural this way :) ॐ

I've never looked into any challenges before. Going to wander around now and look into it...
That was enjoyable to watch! I guess time to copy (still using whatever sharp thing is on hand) Looks awesome!
Thank you Gerrit :) I will need to make one for myself now too :D ॐ
Turned out great. The color of the handle is awesome. I love that there is no one way to accomplish a project. Great work with the hand tools!

Really nice to see how this unfolded buddy 👍👍👍👍
Thank you Dirk :) ॐ
Beautiful piece of art! You made it with your hand and your soul and than you use spray varnish, why?
Thank you Stephan :) I preferred to use the varnish, because I wasn't too happy with the danish oil as a finish on the tool in the end. It brought out the grain well, but it seemed too dull ॐ
I should mention that the varnish is an acrylic standard en71 part 3 ॐ
I understand your intention, but have you ever thought to use Shellac? This fits for me much better to The Wood Yogi :)
I used to use shellac many years ago and I love the finish, but I have been a pure vegetarian for very long time and try avoid using animal products. Hard Top Oil sounds good 😊
Nice work Yogi, I was watching over on Simple Little Life how he made a Kiridashi from an old File. Looks fun!
Thank you Adam 😊 ॐ
How long did it take you to make it?
Just under an hour if I remember with filming 😊 ॐ
@@TheWoodYogi That's ALL!!! WOW!!! I figured it wood have taken at least a couple hours to make the whole knife, if not longer!
Notice NO POWER TOOLS USED in this creation.
Thank you Ray :) ॐ
