My 120 case is arriving this evening. I've done a box by box swatch, will do a quick swatch using Rachel's chart, and ultimately will figure out a family color chart. I was hoping to find someone who did a family color chart that made sense to me but no luck yet. I have a feeling that these 100 colors will prove as elusive to that wish as Crayolas have done. Maybe 100 is too few for smooth transitions. I'm hoping it's the paper (tried 2 types) but boy are these difficult to blend/layer. I use a very light touch but thus far I'm getting the feeling I might be using these pencils as stand alone colors on stylized images as in Basford's Ivy and the Inky Butterfly book. The dark/dull colors are calling to me from the depths of forests or small places where tiny critters may take refuge. Can't wait to do testing and launch these intriguing/challenging pencils. As a completely unrelated topic: Have you ever tried the Koh-I-Knor Tri-Tone pencils? You might really find the brown one especially nice for creating wood furniture. They're available separately. My Hubby surprised me with a full set (24) and I've found they. create colors I never would of thought of myself. Since you can't really choose which tiny chip of color will come up in the next millimeter of pencil core your pencil blends new colors for you. These suprise combinations have proved perfect for my current double page of a sorcerer conjuring a magical potion in the upper glass chamber of his castle. Although I did not own any at the time I began this picture I have a use here for some of the Irojiten fluorescent colors. The dessert page you colored makes !me drool for an ice cream sundae - non diabetic of course. Take care, have a lovely weekend.

Thank you for the update! I've been using the Irojitens on small images, not on purpose, it is just how the random number comes out, not to mention that I am coloring exclusively in Small Victories. I like how I can get nice blends in small spaces with these (see my dessert page and the latest fall leaves circle I did with them). You make me want to try a larger image and see if I can get good light to dark blends of one color with them. I will put that on my to do list. I suspect they will do better with a smooth paper so will try on Strathmore Bristol smooth. I love watching videos using the Koh-I-Knor tri-tones. They intrigue me so one day I will find a good deal on some. Keep me posted on your journey with the Irojiten set, my fingers are crossed that it is the paper. Happy Coloring! ~Tracy
Than k you. I just ordre the book n*8 box as I think thèses are the palest colour amongst the brands I see passing. After buying one as a sample at a show last week, I could test and be sure this is what I want To go with my polychromos which lack of palish colours to start with. These pale colours to me go perfect when coloring petals and anywhere you need a nearly whitish colour. Love it. Love to all, whose life is driven by colours.Cécile from Paris 💐
That will be a perfect addition to the Polys! The more I color and use different sets it seems many sets lack lights and very dark darks. You will get many miles out of these. Type Irojiten in my channel search to check out all videos using these. I always rotate through every set so the list will keep growing albeit slowly as I own many sets! Happy Coloring, ~Tracy
Love using these in Kerby books. I agree definitely a layering pencil and they will be vibrant in color. I like them!
