Custom Painted N Scale Kato SD70m in KCS Grey Ghost Colors. Trains with Shane Ep 80

This is another custom painted unit from my friend Mariusz. This time a Kato SD70m in KCS Grey Ghost scheme.

Thats a pretty cool unit. I used know several guys who worked at kcs. I was actually given a job offer with them many years ago to run tamper after they bought panama rr. But i coukdnt speak spanish 😮

My great uncle and second cousin both worked for KCS. Don't feel bad. I live in Texas and my Spanish is VERY limited. Although I wish I were fluent in it.

Looks to me like the separation between the colors especially above the side cab windows is not even. Also the nose decals have not been set very well. They should fit better over the grabs than they do. Also, you mention only half the units grills have been “washed” - lack of attention to details. But that is what I have seen for years from Mariusz. That’s why several customers have sent me units to “fix” that he has painted.

Well I will be looking for a new painter here in a few months when he moves out of the country. But overall his work is a good value for my requirements so I'm sticking with him till then. After that I will be on the lookout for somebody to paint my future units since I have the modeling skills of a toddler.
