I thought the ancient Greeks despised human sacrifice. In beginning of the Iliad, Agamemnon sacrificed his daughter to gain knowledge of the future of the Trojan war outcome. This of course had consequences. The Greeks did win the war. But when Agamemnon returned home, his wife and her lover killed him as revenge for her daughter's death.
In Iphigenia in Taurois (don't know how to spell it in English) it is revealed that she wasn't sacrificed, but transferred somewhere in Asia(???) by Artemis and she is now forced to perform human sacrifices as well. There are a lot of stuff that happen in this play but I remember one scene where either Iphigenia or one of the chorus girls were like "Goddess Artemis, you are not fit for this kind of worship the barbarians are practicing" meaning that human sacrifices were seen as brutal. Also barbarians=all non Greek people and it kinda suggests that Greeks are also more gentle in their ways and beliefs. But I've also heard human sacrifices being mentioned when ancient Greece is talked about so it was either an earlier practice and then abolished, or there was a part of the population that still did it even though it was frowned upon. I am only guessing tho, I am not a historian

The biggest destruction of the Parthenon was when the Vincians and the Turks were fighting in the 1600s. The Turks had stored explosives in it and a Vincian bomb landed in it cause a devastating explosion. This blew off the roof and part of the columns.

I was taught that in the Middle Ages when one army would attack a castle. The arches would flip each other the bird. It turns out you can’t fire an arrow with out your middle finger. The archers from the loosing side would have their middle fingers amputated.
I love the way this channel tries their best to use different words for certain body parts. Why is that? Kids now hear these words all the time from parents.
