I understand why he hung around kids so much. This video spells it out perfectly. In the first half you have all of these adults fussing over him obsessing over superficial shit.....and then in the second half you see his friend Emmanuel not even caring about the superficial shit. It must have been so grounding for him to have Emmanuel there with him during that night when everyone else was treating him like a god.

@@vanessaferrance5936 Once i went to a friends house;she was really wealthy so she had all the systems necessary to guard it, dogs, alarms and stuff. We had a sleepover and every frikking time i had to reset the alarm in case i wanted to go to another room or even outside, doors locked, every mistake could set it off. I felt like a hamster in the ball that day, got a small taste of how (not famous but very rich) these people live. Imagine not being able to go outside your own house in fear of mob attacks, not being able to go to get a coffee, a walk in the park or even fool around. Zero privacy. Sadly this amount of fame means great personal sacrifices. As much as i admire the rich and famous i wouldnt want to be in their shoes....

Michael was a man one always wanted to be close to. My auntie lived in Indiana in 1970's. When my grandmother would visit her sister she would go out of Her way to drive by the house so I could feel close. (He was the ONLY artist of that time I was allowed to listen to in the house) the rest was gospel - and we sang psalms. Gramma always respected the love that radiated from Michael. Now I'm over 50. Can NOT believe such an I aspirational and inspirational power is gone. My youngest (son) is right here with me. We do miss You Michael. (Never saw a concert, wish I had) was busy working as a single mother. And surviving in this cruel cruel 🌎)

But after his record breaking Grammy's win he became a phenomenon and an eccentric. The press went crazy writing about the Webster/Brooke Shields double-date and Michael, being on top of the world, became more and more recluse.
Alexa Extraordinaire he didn’t become an eccentric ... he just was. He made cohesive decisions to do things like this. He could have very well went to the Grammys alone. He chose to do this. Who wouldn’t write about this in the press? It’s a very strange dynamic. It’s press gold, Michael knew this.
