Joe Johnson no its not - obscenityclause1 year agoin reply to Ally Andrews The Bonzos got back together in 2007 (I think that was the year anyway) and did a new album, where they included a parody of the Kaiser Chiefs' song. So, to answer your question, the Kaiser Chiefs did it first.
“English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag bearer, opsimath, eremite, feudal, still-reactionary
To the guy who asked who the vocalist, if I am not mistaken vocals are done by Ade Edmondson and Roger Ruskin Spear (according to the discography at the back of their bio) but it's fairly vague would probably go with Ade Edmondson and the rest of the Bonzo's (old and new) being in their at different parts.
Holy shit snacks! I've been a Bonzo/Viv S. fan since I was 12, kept up with everything, read "Ginger Geezer" have most of their stuff, watched CRANK with John Peel, even bought "Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead" in "74 when I was only 18! And now I'm just discovering this! I guess life still has a few pleasant surprises in store! Oh yea, I did hear The Kaiser Chiefs original of this in '06. Good Show!
I bought this delightful cardboard Box Set back in 2008 or 09..I am a xennial (born 78) and was still an idea when these guys were in there prime, but this album has a very very special place in my heart, I feel much more connected to their generation than this current one, and it is so bittersweet that the heroes of those times are gradually all going to the soil, including my dear father. People have said in the comments that bonzos without viv is a tricky concept... This is a totally valid concern, and was also sceptical, but I do declare, cast all doubts and fears aside, and take the plunge to this record. (if you are just finding it) it is one of unusual records in which it actually becomes exponentially more enjoyable and preposterous the more you listen to it. Unfortunately with some records the reverse is the case. They do a good job of filling the Stanshall gap with THREE personalties, it has been said (not by me) tjat Vivian's absence needed THREE people to fill it.
It begins with "I'm the Urban Spaceman", porn, horns, the horrible, yet great guitar break from "Canyons Of Your Mind" and all the rest of the falderall that made us love the Bonzo from the beginning! I predict that Viv would have been proud of this! No doubt the best track! I shall now go hunting tigers with bad blood, whilest riding Ali Babas camel. Flesh Wound!
I bought this a few years back and I put it away and never listen to it but these days I want to give it a shot. Bonzo's without Vivian not an easy pill to swallow but I love these wacky Lads we miss you Neil Innes say hello to Vivian for us
One thing's for certain amidst the Con-TROV-ersee over who did and played what and whose version is better and all the rest...the comments on the Bonzo's are hands down by far the most entertainging and clever here on jollity farm.
I realized that after listening to this version, cos I love Bonzo, but being part of the young generation, didn't know they had even covered it from Bonzo. But is this a cover that Bonzo did? Like what is the first version of this song?
High Spirits and Boisterous Behaviour. Funny how the underclass & working class can get on with the upper class., whilst the middle class dont get on with anyone else, whilst wishing to become upper crust., but of course never can nor could.
The last song to which I shall give a listen this decade.
Rest in peace, Mr. Neil Innes. You shall be sorely missed.
Its a Pastiche.........a Cornish Pastiche no less. A melange of musical meat and veg encased in a crusty pastry case.
Yes and severed with 2 points of larger and a packet of Christ's.
million times better than the original.
i think this is the original?

And all that.
"Do you know what a palmist once said to me? She said 'Will you let go!'
LOL! The Old Geezer Chiefs?
This band is hilarious (found them through Magical Mystery Tour.)

System Of A Down should cover this song...
Still think the Bonzos should do 2017 Euro Vision"
I made a mistake and Neil Innes corrected me on Twitter. He says it's Ade Edmondson and Roger Ruskin Spear.
Spike Jones is ALIVE!!!!!

Fantastic...Better than the original
I'm sure Viv would of adored this, poppets.
First you sow the seed...
Then you plant the seed...
Then you eat the seed...
Sounds like Ade Edmondson and Michael Palin to me.

That smacked of a rhinocratic oath. Perhaps a watermelon for your girl tonight?

Looked underdone and harassed,
And out of place and mean,
And horribly embarrassed."

This song makes me wonder: at what point did Lindybeige get involved with the band?

Educated quality punch up of excellence. Fourth wall styling brain - stretch. Thank you for posting this.
Liked it for laughs value; Although the drawn out ending became tedious.
