DIY Decoden How-To: Make Your Own 3-Ingredient Whipped Cream Tutorial

  • Hi everyone! I had some time during a past weekend so I thought I'd film this tutorial! I've been wanting to do a lot more decoden lately but I haven't had access to buy any new whipped cream clay, so I thought I'd attempt to make my own, and that is how I actually came up with this! I've noticed many other youtubers also do this but a lot of them have used large volumes PVA glue and I wanted to show people that it is still possible without that much pva glue! :) I hope you found this helpful! Thanks so much for your continuous support and for staying with me, even when I haven't been very active lately! Exams are still going on for me, so sorry if I continue to be quite inactive, I hope I can post more videos in the summer holidays!

    This looks like a great method! I made up a method to make whip too, just thought I'd tell everyone just in case anyone wants to try this:
    ᗪEᑕOᗪEᑎ ᗯᕼIᑭ (ᑎO ᔕIᒪIᑕOᑎE):
    ⓈⓊⓅⓅⓁⒾⒺⓈ:
    ⚫️ Glue
    ⚫️ Hair Gel (a t̲̅h̲̅i̲̅c̲̅k̲̅ and jiggly one!)
    ⚫️ Cornstarch or corn flour
    ⚫️ A mixing container or surface
    ⚫️ Something to mix with
    ⚫️ Optional: A knife to make it easier to scrape out the whip from your container
    ⚫️ A Ziploc or a piping bag
    ⚫️ A piping tip
    ⒹⒾⓇⒺⒸⓉⒾⓄⓃⓈ
    Add some glue to your mixing container. Then, take your THICK hair gel and add as much of the gel as the glue. Mix. By now it should be quite a thick mixture, when you lift your mixing tool, there should be a peak of cream hanging from it. So, it should NOT be runny, it should hold its shape well. Once you have reached this consistency, add cornstarch until the cream becomes even thicker and slightly matte. Once it has become SUPER thick, it is time to transfer this whip into a piping bag or corner of a Ziploc fitted with the icing tip of your choice, I like the look of the basic star tip. Scrape the cream down until it reaches the tip with a ruler or card's edge. y̸o̸u̸r̸ d̸e̸c̸o̸d̸e̸n̸ w̸h̸i̸p̸ i̸s̸ r̸e̸a̸d̸y̸!
    I ᕼOᑭE TᕼIᔕ ᖇEᑕIᑭE ᗯOᖇKᔕ ᗯEᒪᒪ ᖴOᖇ ᑌ! Iᖴ TᕼIᔕ ᖇEᑕIᑭE ᗪOEᔕᑎ'T ᗯOᖇK, IT ᗰIGᕼT ᗷE ᗷEᑕᗩᑌᔕE Oᖴ TᕼE ᑕOᑎᔕIᔕTEᑎᑕY Oᖴ TᕼE ᕼᗩIᖇ GEᒪ ᑌ ᖇ ᑌᔕIᑎG Oᖇ TᕼE GᒪᑌE ᗷᖇᗩᑎᗪ. 😄

    wow, this is really nice !! since it's air dry clay, how long do you think it'd be safe to keep inside of the piping bag as long as it's sealed, and how long does it take to dry ?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому +7

      +Lixity Hagoze thanks! :) as long as the piping bag is sealed, you can probably keep it in there for a very long time, I created this video in May last year, I still have the rest in a piping bag sitting in my drawer, and it's still the same consistency as before :D also it depends on how much liquid (water/glue) you put in your clay and how long it takes for your air dry clay to dry - mine usually takes around 1-2 days to fully harden :D

    Hi again. I have a question. Can I put like glaze over it after the clay drys? (By the way I'm going to use Daiso air dry clay) It's a glaze spray bottle. Will the decoden fake whip cream melt or something? So am I able to use the spray bottle glaze over the decoden?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому

      +lisaluisA. phung No the whipped cream won't melt I don't think, once it dries it dries since the water evaporates :) You might want to test it first the daiso air dry clay first just in case though!

  • @7prudent
    @7prudent 11 місяців тому

    Isn't it hard to do it with the bag? And then you need to clean it etc. Does it harden over time inside bag? Also you cannot change the tip.

    • @yourfavouritehydra
      @yourfavouritehydra 7 місяців тому +2

      If you use a coupler on the icing bag, you can easily change out tips and also remove the tips to store the cream so it doesn't dry out. And if you don't have a coupler, putting the tip in one piping bag and then putting the decoden in a different piping bag to then put into the bag with the tip, that would allow you to remove the decoden to change the tip and store the cream away from air so it doesn't dry out.

    how long does it take to dry? do we need to put anything to make it stay or make it look glossy?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому +1

      +lisaluisA. phung for the drying time, it takes around a day for me, it depends how much glue and water you add to the air dry clay to get it the right consistency :D for the glossiness, it also depends on your air dry clay, if it doesn't dry glossy you could always coat it with a glaze that works with your air dry clay.

    • @jennhi7138

    Hi +theflufffball, I'm considering making one of this cases myself. I wanted to know what the purpose of the cream is other than appeal. Also, when you are finished making the case, does it dry? Would you just leave it out to dry or what? Thanks if you answer. c:

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому +1

      +Insert Lenny Yup it definitely dries :D If you're making your own cream it depends on how much liquid you add, it normally takes around 1-2 days to fully air dry and harden. If you're using a brand of whipped cream clay that's already been made and you've bought, then it will probably say how long it will take to dry in the instructions :) Hope this helps!

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  9 років тому +1

      +Elena Wilson you could add acrylic paints (they would probably blend better than chalk pastels) and it doesn't really matter, but maybe after you mix it so you can judge the perfect colour you want, but then again if you add it before then you can judge the right consistency better, since adding more liquid will make the whole thing more runny, so it doesn't really matter xD

      +HiyaLilxKitty For me the cabachons sticked really well because I used glue, and that glue helps to stick the cabachons in place! And depending on what air dry clay you use, it is pretty durable :D For me the daiso air dry clay was slightly squishy when it dried on a phone case, but if I hit it hard on a table it doesn't break or anything xD

    Could you use Elmer's glue or where did you get the liquid glue?????????

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  9 років тому

      Lemon Cake Crafts you can use any glue, so elmer's glue will probably work :D

      Does diaso air dry clay by itself dry well like, really hard?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому

      it dries hard but not rock hard, more like a foamy hard, the texture is the like the texture of those foam alphabet letters you can get from craft stores but less flexible

    • @theflufffball

      +CreativeCreations Yup! As long as it dries clear, most white glues do dry clear :D

    Do u have to bake it?

    • @F0XCORE
      @F0XCORE 7 років тому

      If its air dry clay, then I don't think so. I baked air dry clay for a separate project and it turned out brittle and close to burnt.

      Fairy Lights I've never tried it, but since probably any air dry clay works, I'm sure it would! :)

    would polymer clay work or is it too hard?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому

      +Amberly _ Sadly polymer clay won't work because it;s an oven bake clay, and the clay you use for this has to be air dry D:

    • @dishsoap6708
      @dishsoap6708 8 років тому

      It worked for me when I used polymer clay since the glue will dry and be solid so will the deco whip

    How long do u have to wait for it to dry? X

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  9 років тому

      Jacky Do For me it took overnight to dry, however it depends on how much glue and water you add to your clay to make it the right consistency :D

    • @JackyDo21
      @JackyDo21 9 років тому

      can u give me details how you made yours coz i want mine with the quickest drying time! x

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  9 років тому

      well I didn't exactly measure anything, I just trialed and errored until I got it to the right consistency you see in this video - if you want a quicker drying time, use less glue, less water and more clay.

    where you buy the clay ?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  9 років тому

      Josefa Bong Well since it's daiso air dry clay, Daiso Singapore. Although since you can use any air dry clay, you can get any air dry clay at a stationary or craft store :D

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому

      +lisaluisA. phung depends what clay you use and how hard it dries :) I use daiso air dry clay and it dries semi-hard but it's also quite spongy

    • @jennhi7138
      @jennhi7138 8 років тому

      +theflufffball okay because I'm going to use the same clay as you Daiso air dry clay too. Thank you. I thought it wasn't going to dry hard so I asked to make sure :)

    will resin clay work?

    • @theflufffball
      @theflufffball  8 років тому

      +Fluffy DIYs hm not sure about that one :/ it may be a little heavy, although it is air dry so it may work >< Personally I wouldn't try it since resin clay is quite expensive for me, but if it isn't for you, you should try it :) Tell me how it goes if you do! :D
