5 Valve Trumpet Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2024
- A friend kindly lent me his very unusual 5 valve trumpet to review. This is a very odd instrument that is unlike any trumpet that I've played before. Unfortunately the fingering is all different too, so it takes a bit of getting used to.
UPDATE: Yes, I have indeed seen the video of David Hickman's 5 valve trumpet, due largely to the 300 times his video has been sent to me.

Please stop sending me links to David Hickman's 5 valve trumpet. I've now been sent that link over 100 times.
This is a good troll vid i am likeing the vid
Do you know what this thing is? collections.ed.ac.uk/mimed/record/18631
Anoyth I kinda have an idea. back in Adolphe sax's day, they didn't have a way to do valve combinations like 123 or 1/2 or 1/3 for things like the trumpet. back then, every thing had its own valve. for example, they had a "trombone" with 7 valves, one for each slide position
Spartacus, that's absolutely incorrect. That instrument pictured can do valve combinations like every other instrument. There's absolutely no truth in what you've said about valve combinations.
Trent Hamilton hm makes sense. I don't know where I read that then... it seems it was to correct intonation issues with valve combinations?
How does he say all this with a straight face?
By only showing the best take of the recording. Lol
He must have been dying while writing the script!
It was not until this comment that I realized I have never seen Mr. Hamilton laugh on video before.
No, I didn't have a script for this video. Nearly all of my videos are unscripted.
Watch the Fake Bach Stradivarius video.
Jesus, five notes at once is absolutely terrifying.
Why? Imagine (after tuning it properly) being able to play full chords (eg C-E-G-Bb-C) with just a single trumpet! It's amazing!
I mean... That is true. But you might end up summoning a demon in the process.
Do you play piano bro?
You should play a C, an F#,a G, and a B all at once.
Lucias the Goose | Why would we want a Tritone, a minor second, and a major seventh all at once
If you read this before you watch the video, just listen to the video without watching it. After listening, watch.
That's what I did, I was so confused 😂
Trent takes sarcasm to new extremes.
Would you recommend this for a professional player?
Tubruh yes
Is that even a question? Your fellow usual trumpet peasants will be so jealous of that neat tuning mechanism of yours!
Tubruh Bruh it's clearly a joke.....
KDS. 'tis no joke! I'm actually auditioning for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra on this fine instrument! Wish me luck!
Should be a piece of cake, with that finely crafted equipment. No luck needed, therefore.
When I saw this show up in my feed I thought this would be silly. I guess not. No sarcasm. At all.
Doge Music Productions that's the beauty of it
Yes. That instrument makes me want to play the trumpet!
Doge Music Productions toy
Johnathan Compton what you mean by "toy"
Doge Music Productions it looks like a toy
What a beautiful instrument. You must be proud to even be in it's presence, much less to actually HOLD it. What a magnificent prize.
Sorry my Bach Strad, you have been replaced.
I seriously am very surprised this wasn't saved for April 1st
Yeah, I looked at the date and was surprised to find it was made in February
@Kaitlyn Seymour of course, we would never joke about such a magnificent instrument!
Not having the trumpet in the thumbnail made the experience of watching this video so much more enjoyable!
I couldn’t tell if he was being sarcastic at first, but now realize he is dead serious
My band director told me to upgrade from my Bach 37 to one of these and I definitely had my doubts, but I now see why he would recommend such a magnificent instrument.
This is quality humor
Dammit I was so anxious and when you finally showed it I was like "for fucks sake"
Sorry mate :)
Don't get me wrong I still loved the video, but I wasn't expecting a toy.

What are you talking about, this is a glorious, serious video about a serious instrument
bluecoats just changed their trumpet brand.
What manufacturer is this? And what mouthpiece will it fit?
xoknight He said in the video, Wiggles. And I'm pretty sure they have custom mouthpieces.
xoknight looks integral like a monette prana with a 45 degree bent shank
9999.1 Bach will fit
Seems to be wide bore
I belive you get the great deal of getting the mouthpiece with it. Magnefice
I've been playing trumpet for six years now, and I'm getting quite serious. Would you recommend that I upgrade from my Bach TR-200 to this?
This video is amazing, I love the quality of this instrument. It is truly a work of art that deserves to be displayed so that it can receive the respect and recognition that it deserves. I have never seen such beautiful instrument before. Absolutely magnificent. 10/10. 😂
Such a quality instrument, perhaps the finest craftsmanship I have ever seen
This is potentially the best review video ever made.
you should plat carnival of Venice with it
Janglin well, if he made several recordings playing different sections he could
I love the sheer quality that you never fail to present during your videos. I always look forward to and use your videos for advice. I will definitely recommend this instrument to my peers in college.
You should try doing a multitrack using all of the "World's Cheapest" instruments. That would be the best.
...Or would it be the worst?
This is why people love your channel, i could not care less about these kinda of instruments, but you're just so entertaining.
Does this count as click bait or just being funny...?
It's not a clickbait. You expected a 5-valve Trumpet and that's what the video has.
Crimson Sunrise five valve, bell-front F horn*
Funny
It isn't clickbait because is not a 10 minute video gone wrong in da hood
i wonder if this what crown uses
Probably
Geatle this is exactly what I used back when I marched crown SO to answer your question, yes, it is what they use
Honestly, it isn't that loud for Crown. It's probably a BD horn.
It actually plays better than some horns I've played
It actually seems pretty cool, although, looking at it, you can't take it seriously
To all of those people who thought this was a serious review
...
I got so excited when I heard the title. Never expected what I saw. Top notch playing skill, I was very pleased with what you produced. LOL
I was smiling through the entire video...! This was really the best thing to come out of today, and I was skiing with my dad earlier this afternoon!!
my favorite video on youtube now
Excellent, thorough, and very thoughtful review. I found myself unable to stop viewing until I had ultimately watched the entire video, and I'm strangely tempted to watch it again.
Should've saved this for april fools XD
But great video!
Wonderful. Trent is always uplifting to me when I watch his videos. Thank you.
That is probably the finest piece of manufacturing I've ever seen. The beautiful markings and tonal excellence of that instrument really shows how trumpets should be made
This is the most beautiful masterpiece I have ever seen. I had to come back to this video.
Truly a manufacturing masterpiece. Thank you for sharing this creation with the likes of us.
his sarcasm is the only reason why im subbed
I came in here expecting to be disappointed by another silly custom instrument but here I am. Very pleased to see this work of art
I didn't expect that
this is true ingenuity. more companies need to jump on this while there is still a chance to
I’m honestly stunned at how glorious that work of art is
The seriousness, the effort, the work that went into this nine-minute video! Glorious.
You trolled me, but that's okay. Today I got a free trombone, so it's all good.
Stephen Budders o
I got a free trombone a while ago too but then I saw a video Trent did called "the worlds cheapest trombone" and realized it was the exact trombone in the video so I threw it in the garbage and bought an intermediate trombone from jeanpaulusa.com
I'm a trombone player but this had me so hyped and this made my morning. Thanks a ton man. This was incredible.
I LOVE IT!!! I definitely need to get me one of those. Trent, I love your sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your interesting videos. I'm a trombone player who also enjoys the valved brass instruments. I am totally with you about the valve trombone; I'm sure it was invented for marching baritone/euphonium players who were too lazy to learn the positions.
And by the way, my sincere condolences on the loss of your contrabass trombone. I felt almost as bad as you did when I saw it fall. The fact that it was made in China was somewhat conciliatory, but still, I'm sure it cost you quite a bit.
Keep up the good work brother. Cheers.
With the five rotary valves, it's actually a 10-valve trumpet. What an achievement!
incredible satire of brass instrument reviews or really any kind of specialty review. I will not abbreviate the fact that I did, indeed laugh out loud a number of times! Great work... ( obviously a great many people didn't get this at all )
Thank you so much for trying out my dream trumpet! I’ve been saving up for it, for over 6 years now!
most well put together trumpet i have ever seen, 10/10
As a trumpet player I think I can safely say Bach has found new competition and that this must be my knee collection.
If you ever feature this instrument again, it would be interesting to see it tuned to a pentatonic scale and used for a piece written for that scale.
I have never seen such a fine display of precision and craftsmanship!!!!
level: 847 (extremely rare!!)
Trumpet technology has really come a long way since I was a youngster. I think I saw Chris Botti using this same trumpet on his latest CD called "Tunes in the Tub". lol
LOVE YOUR REVIEWS TRENT!!!!
IF you shake it while playing, does it create a tremolo?
was anyone else waiting for him to actually pull out a five valve trumpet the entire time
I thought this was April fools till I saw the date
Oh, my reaction when he showed that thing... PRICELESS
i like how he uses the exact same voice and tone he does for a normal review. makes the video 10x better
It's not a terrible idea for an instrument. A polyphonic recorder?
Could you do a video on trumpet screamer mouthpieces?
Mr. Whatareyadoin I think he already has
B O B B Y S H E W L E A D
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS???? THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL INSTRUMENT!!!
you know sometimes I get really exited and then this happens and this is why I like this channel because you never know what you are going to get
Such a magnificent instrument, truly a sight to see
Your remark that this was a "puddle of wonder", was a most interesting; and, perhaps; a most apropos phrase; making this a rewarding video to watch. Thanks!
That is truly an amazing quality instrument, it will surely make playing trumpet concertos 100x easier than any Bach or Yamaha instrument
With a horn that incredible. I'll bet Carolina Crown will be using them next season.
U deserve so many more subs than 20k much love from the U.S.
I have been looking for a good trumpet to get my nephews so they can start playing. This looks like an excellent trumpet for beginners.
Not only is it an amazing instrument, but it was breathtaking. How well you played it.
Trent Hamilton the fact that you played a song on this is simply hysterical
The fact that he takes it so serious is the best part
I watched this last week and thought it was hilarious and I got faked out by your serious tone and I just rewatched it and fell for it again
I got this 5 valve trumpet, hoping instead of the tradition 3 valve for band, I would be able to play out more. Once I opened the box (at school) I instantly got multiple stares from many of my fellow trumpet players.
Its has been about 4 months and I'm still playing my trumpet, so far I easily make a sound and make all our music sound 'better than with a normal trumpet' (quoted from my band teacher)
I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to be able to play out from the crowd
Oh my gosh dude! You had me so excited!
To be fair, there's actually a legitimate 5 valve trumpet. It has a 4th valve and a trigger. Both lock in place as well. It is in C. Pressing the 4th cable puts it in B, pulling the trigger puts it in D.
You made my Sunday :D
How the heck do you manage to stay serious? Hi-la-ri-ous!
Thankyou for this incredible review. I will certainly consider finding one as I would very much like to learn to play the 5 valve trumpet. You have absolutely convinced me to buy this fine piece of the brass family as it is just so dazzling.
I'm convinced, now I'm considering buying this model for my first trumpet experience, I was so happy when I saw in the box that the age recommendation is 3+ so I am indeed in the proper age to own such instrument.
Man. . . I thought this was a joke at first, but that was kind of cool. It was serious, a good video. I did not expect some actually entertaining material from this video.
I wonder if someone actually went and contacted him about this and Trent was in for a surprise himself when he first saw it, or if the beginning part was all just an elaborate ruse...
This made me LOL at three in the morning! Love how serious you were the whole way through. You're hilarious! 😂
Glad to see this channel finally has a meme.
I like the look! Is there a Wiggles Brand tuba out there?
you should buy several then craft a joint mouthpiece connector so you can tape enough trumpets together to play a 2-octave chromatic scale, so about 5 and you won't need 3 notes. it will be beautiful.
Does standard cup mute fit in this trumpet?
Daniel Kotyński probably ;)
wow what an extraordinary beauty of an instrument. i think i might cry.
Amazing video Trent! I'll definitely be on the lookout for one of these!
More of this, please!
Trent: speaking of the instrument as if it is super amazing and revolutionary
Me: is thinking of a super complex trumpet that somehow has 5 valves
Trent: pulls out children's toy
Welp. I saw the thumbnail and clicked on it.
and later i found out i have the same name as you
Notification squad, roll out
6:40 F for failure
Great!
is it possible to get this trumpet in raw plastic ?
Ok I actually kinda want this, 8 bucks? Give me the link to guy
This was beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes!
Truly a revolutionary instrument.
