Thank you Sue for your terrific reaction and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie Treasure, John Farnham! He is the GOAT! Please listen to many more of his awesome repertoire from the past 6 decades, like Freedom, Angels, Touch of Paradise, Dare to Dream, just to name a few... xoxo💖🎵🎶
I wull definitely listen to more of John's music, Deb. Thanks a bunch 🤗
I loved that “Martin Luther King Jnr” moment.
I hate to admit as an Aussie that I have never heard this song before. I have been to one of his live concerts, he is brilliant and so funny and down to earth. Great lyrics in this wonderful song. ❤❤❤
Hi Sian, you are so right. This song is amazing. I am glad we got to experience it for the first time together. 🤩💜
John gives space for his band to have their moments to shine
I love that 🤩
What a healing, hope-filled message! Needed that after listening to endless days of political acrimony and bluster and revealing Trump trial testimony. Thanks for featuring John today.
I love how his songs have a message
I agree, Annette. So many songs today don't 🤗
Such a beautiful soul our John is, true role model kids should follow in this day and age. Love that you love John and such a beautiful reaction. Some songs I would recommend are - I can do anything, burn for you a lovely ballad he wrote for his wife- a touch of paradise, that’s freedom
Hi Johnny, you are so right. John is a lovely human being with an amazing voice to boot. I appreciate the suggestions 🥰
Great reaction Sue. John's band is first rate, his backup singers are first rate, and he is never reluctant to let them shine individually during his concerts. He always credits them by name and this is why we know most of the people on stage with John by name, and his concerts become something of a family affair. Is it any wonder that he is so loved in Australia !!!
Hi Joan, I understand why he is so loved. John deserves all the love. He is great and as you mentioned so very generous with the people he works with....a sign of a wonderful person 🤗
John’s whole band are the best of the best in Australia at the time. It was like an all star band.
🥰
The Farnham Band is probably equally talented as Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band .
They have played for other artists like Kylie Minogue and Olivia Newton John on their tours
Good morning Sue. So happy to see how much you’re enjoying our John. Yes, he’s a naturally funny, talented, compassionate and beautiful person. He’s our national treasure. Have a great day, Sue. ❤️🇦🇺
Thank you Judy. Lovely to hear from you. John is a treasure...keep him close to your heart.. .he is incredible 🤗
Venetta Field, that did the 'vocal solo': it's worth having a look at her pedigree. She backed Tina Turner for years as an Ikette, she's sung backing vocals with the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd,
to name but a few. She's an amazing person, with wonderful talent.
Thanks Xx. She is phenomenal 🤗
One of my absolute favourite JF songs. The backing vocal arrangement is wonderful all the way through and then the breakdown the end… great.
References there to MLK, Bob Dylan (the answer is blowing in the wind), Neil Armstrong, the Berlin wall.. what a time in history it was.
You are so right, Dr Kap, it was an quite the time...so much going on 😀
This is a beautiful song by a beautiful man. The lyrics, taken and crafted from other songs with a message, in turn bring a greater message - "In days to come we'll see the Sun as more than just a star. In days to come we''ll be as one ..." In esoteric spirituality the Sun is our 'local God'. The Sun is Light, Love and Power. There is the outer physical Sun, the middle heart of the Sun and the core of will-power of the Sun. When we realise and follow the Sun's example there will be peace on earth and all people will 'be as one' living in Light, Love and Goodwill to all.
I agree, Barnowl 🤗
Lovely, I actually went to this concert with my son who was then only 8 years old! Fantastic experience.. :)
Wow, Kim! How cool is this. This must have been an incredible experience 🥰
@@playitagainsue it absolutely was!
He is what would be call an all-round or true entertainer if U like a showman
🥰
If you want to see amazing chemistry watch John with Olivia newton John singing Please don’t ask me. It’s a beautiful duet between the two best friends. Also the fabulous Melbourne symphony orchestra
.
Thank you, Alice. I will add it to my list 🤩
If you want to see more of Farnsey fun side check out his duet with Olivia Newton John
Your the one thst I want from the Main Event concert
Awesome, thanks Dave 🤗
Another Angel's with one of back up singers Lisa Edwards who has darker hair in this performance
@davedavis1667 thanks Dave 🤗
It was at his Chain Reaction concert in 1990. 🎉
Thanks Debbie 🤩💕
Thankyou sue, love your reactions to John ...he is such a star x❤❤❤
Thank you SG! You are so right. John is an amazing star 💜🤗
Thanks Sue. John Farnham is not of this world. A living miracle of our times.
Great description, Michael 😀
Love him.
I just love your reactions to John. You really get him and why we love him so much. If only the rest of the world would get to know him like we do and he finally can claim global recognition as one of the worlds greatest entertainers by everyone.
Hi Carolyn 👋 😍
Thank you, Carolyn. Yes John deserves recognition from everyone. He is unbelievable 🤗
You are absolutely right, he is an amazing human being.
One song John does not want you to do is Sadie The Cleaning Lady when he was 17 in 1967
Haha ok, David. I will not do that one then. Thanks a bunch 🤗💜
1967 John's first recording Sadie IMHO is rubbish, but the flip side is a Farnham original called In My Room, not to be confused with the Brian Wilson song.
It's worth a listen.
@@blueycarlton thanks Bluey 🤩
@@blueycarlton I like the Beach Boys Brian Wilson in my room cannot remember JF will have a listen
Thanks heaps for the great reaction. John’s vocals are just phenomenal. Please check out “a touch of paradise” and “burn for you” live from this same concert two of my favourites
Thanks George, John is fantastic. I will check those songs out for you 😀
The wonderful black lady backing john is a legend in her own right, Miss Vanetta Fields, please view her and John duet the track “Amazing Grace” you will be awestruck.
Hi Lee, you are right. They are both incredible. I actually reacted to Amazing Grace if you care to, you ciuld check it out. I appreciate you tuning in 🤩
Thanks again Sue for your wonderful reactions. I dont think you'll run out of songs of John's to react to any time soon. He's got so many, which makes us fans very, very happy. 😁
It was my pleasure, Jojomac! I think you are right. There seems to be many many more songs for me to appreciate. I look forward to hearing them all 😀
Thanks Sue ❤ He is very real and loves people. He loves and appreciates his band and he is THE G.O.A.T. and just a beautiful person. ❤
Hi Debbie, you are most welcome. Thank you for the suggestion. John is wonderful 🥰
Nice one Deb ❤❤
@Dr_KAP Thanks Kappy 😍😍
@playitagainsue You will never have to convince any of we Farnsey Fans of that 😍🤩
@Dr_KAP Hey Kappy I've doing a bit of research for my Series- I'm up to Part 5 and Age of Reason. Have you ever seen John singing Dont Tell Me It Can't Be Done live? I love that song. I've asked Brandon too. If you know of one can you send me a link please 🙏 ☺️
This song references many things; 'Imagine if you can': John Lennon's - Imagine, Martin Luther King Jnr's speech - 'I Have a Dream', Bob Dylan - The Answer is Blowing in the Wind, reference to the first moon walk, my interpretation of 'we will see the sun as more than just a star' - we take everything at face value without realising/acknowledging the real significance/purpose of things/people.
A beautiful solo by backup singer Vanetta Fields who has sung with many famous people, she was also an Ikette with Tina Turner. As usual everyone on stage is amazing!
Very interesting take, Margaret...excellent 🤗
Thanks for bringing this song to my attention. Enjoyed your reaction, as always!
Glad you enjoyed it, Liv. John was amazing here 😀💚
He is absolutely a wonderful human, I'm sure he has many faults, as we all do (ask his wife of over 50 yrs, I'm sure she could name a few, lol.) but he is up there on the scale, he is honest and real, what you see is real, he doesn't put himself above anyone else, he is humble, gracious, generous and truly caring, sounds like I'm 'blowing smoke' but it really is true. 😊✌❤
Hey Tania, I believe every word you wrote. John seems like a great guy and yes he has a genuine realness about him 🥰
Great Performance
Needless to say a flawless performance
I think this might have been first original song i heard from John and really enjoyed it
At first i was worried it would come across corny ( with the MLK quote )
But as it continued and quoted Bob Dylan and John Lennon i loved it
I would like to pick up on your comment on backing singers
There was an Oscar winning documentary about backing singers called 20 ft from Stardom which is awesome if you can catch it
Luther Vandross famously was backing vocalist for David Bowie
Yes Jesse, I know of that doc it was great! So many of them have better voices than the lead person 🤗
The backup singer, Venetta Fields, was a backup singer in Barbra Streisand 's A Star is Born, so yes, they are top class.
That is amazing, Di 🤩
John sang a couple of songs for the movie RAD back in 86 , Break the ice and Thunder in your heart. Can you give them a chance on your show.
Hey John, I have never heard of Rad. I will look them up 🤗
One of my fav songs from John. It is still relevant in today's world. I actually feel when he sings "In days to come we'll see the Sun as more than just a star" that he's referring to the Son of God. I may be wrong but that's how it hit me. John is all those lovely things you mentioned Sue, So kind, so loved by all who know him, and a great sense of humour....but he lives to 'Entertain' His contact with the audience is amazing...no matter if you're sitting in the back row or up front you know he sees and loves you. Love your channel Sue
Hi Linsu, thank you so much for your kind words. It us always a pleasure to talk with you. I love your take. I think it is beautiful 🤗💜
@@playitagainsue Thanks Sue, love your channel ♥🦘🦘
Thankyou again for reacting to John, great concert, great album, - most of the songs written or co-written by John, some recommended songs for you that are also from this concert, - ‘Love’s in need’ ua-cam.com/video/2qfANjrkkU0/v-deo.html
‘Chain Reaction’ ua-cam.com/video/xWGXmWB4tKQ/v-deo.html
Playing To Win - ua-cam.com/video/nBlBO8HxDhg/v-deo.html
and also ‘HELP’ , I know you have done the MSO version but here he does the 'Beatles' version first, followed by his own version ua-cam.com/video/VD5Vt6zx_to/v-deo.html
Thanks so much, Jayne 🤩
All great suggestions. I especially love the one where he starts with the Beatles version of HELP first, it shows his versatility and the inspired, moving way that he produced his, slower, meaningful version.
@@MargaretGuppy Thankyou, and agree, love how he does both, and how the crowd sings along with both, actually love everything he does, - the first LP I ever owned was Johnny Farnham - 'Everybody ought to sing a song' - ( I say owned, I stole from my eldest sister when she moved to London for a couple of years, - that and a Beach Boys Album - I was about 13)
John's backing vocalists at this point in time are Miss Venetta Fields, Mr Lindsay Field (not related to Venetta), and Miss Lisa Edwards. All very talented in their own rights and Miss Venetta has sung with many international artists.
Thanks Serene. They are incredible 🤩
Vanetta Fields (the African American lady) was an Ikette. She's a beautiful singer.
The others are Chuck McKinney (died in 1994) and Lisa Edwards.
Thanks Jeff. They are all amazing singers...too bad about Chuck 💜
Most people will request the song that everybody else requests but John is soo good that he does other songs as well. My suggestion would be 'John Farnham - See the banners Fall' or John Farnham - Beyond the call' both LIVE! Please. Ur welcome. 😂
Thank you, Khoa 🤗
John supported his backup singers in many songs
Thanks Deb once again for your great review of John and his back up singers who as u guesses can sing solos beautifully. I was thinking watching you, how on earth did John never really make it big in Canada and America years ago? Oh well, we in Aus got most of his live concerts thank goodness lol.
Now no picking on me Deb lol. One thing I’ve been meaning to work out for years - the different between Canadian and American accents - they sound exactly the same to me lol 🥴
Hey Bernadette, no worries. We do sound similar sometimes depending on the area but much easier to tell us apart from the southern States and we can tell the difference between Canadians and Amercians from the north...a lot of differences in vowel sounds but it is probably too subtle for Aussies to pick up on it 🤗💜
@@playitagainsue
Oh yes, we can all pick a Southern state from anyone else lol. Thanks for the vowel info. I must do some reading and listening to it 😊
Hi Bernadette. Hope youre well. Most Canadians speak French as well so they have more of a European accent I think except as Sue said the ones that are more southern and closer to the US. Cheers Deb xx
@@AussieDebb
Oh hiya Deb, how are you? Yes I knew Canadians spoke French - a gigantic amount better than I ever did when I had it as a subject at school lol
Now I can’t remember what else you said, when you scroll up to re- read what u wrote. It won’t scroll up Lo. I’m over tired here, woke at 4am, waiting for late podiatrist to turn up playing John, Song, going gone song as I always jig.
… what was I saying lol. Podiatrist just been and gone. . I need a nap 💤💤lol
With a career spanning 50 years you won’t be running out of songs for a while yet.
I am glad of that. Thanks Craig 🤗
Before joining John, both Lisa and Vaneta (the black lady) had their own solo careers.
You can tell. They are very talented 🤩
Hello. I would suggest listening to John singing with Anthony Warlow
Great, thanks Lesley 😀
If you had already reacted to Amazing Grace, you really should; John is joined by Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field, their harmony is spot on.
Hi James, lovely to hear from you again. Yes I did react to Amazing Grace and you are so right. Their harmonies are off the charts 🤩
