Oh wow. So, when I was in primary school, our class teacher would read a book to us at the end of the school day. This was every day around 30 minutes or so before the bell went before home time. And it was while my teacher would read to us that I first experienced ASMR. I obviously didn’t know it by that name at the time, but basically pretty much every single time our teacher read to us at the end of the day I would get really which was very tingly sensations in and around my scalp running down my neck. Sometimes it felt like it was my whole body that was tingling. And as well as these intense, lovely tingles, often I would start to feel really sleepy. Many times I would drift into light sleep. And if I didn’t actually fall asleep, it felt like I was in that wonderful moment when you are about to fall asleep, but don’t actually fall asleep. I absolutely love that feeling of being right on the edge of falling into a deep sleep, but yet kind of in that very special moment, where time seems to stop still, and you can’t keep your eyes open. And I can still vividly, remember Charlie and the chocolate factory being one of the books, our teacher read to us. so, almost 50 years later here, I am about to have the story read to me again. i’m so happy that I feel like I have wonone of the golden tickets inside the rapper of Willy, Wonka‘s chocolate bars.

Thanks for sharing Chris! Very similar to my own first early introduction to what we now call ASMR!

@@LibraryofWhispersASMR I just edited my comment because it was littered with commas in the wrong places and wrong spellings because I was writing my comment
literally fighting to keep my eyes open. Anyway, now I have edited my comment I can fully enjoy this video. X

Ah wow Kate! This is the very copy I read as a child at school in the early 80s ...this is the edition whose illustrations are imprinted in my mind ... nostalgia is off the scale here! ❤ thank you!!!

Ah, that cover is so evocative of my childhood - not that I was around in 1964! I'm old, but I'm not that old! Brilliant video as ever Kate. I hope you are doing alright and the recuperation is going well.

I loved this book when I was a child. I was raised on Roald Dahl between Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, George's Marvelous Medicine, The Magic Finger, but this was probably my favourite book of his...
Anyway, take care of yourself, Kate! Bedrest, a cup of tea and a good history book will do you some good!

Oh how nice! I never read the book as a kid but I was obsessed with the remake starring Johnny Depp🥰 It's a bit early still but I'm think I'm heading to bed then
