I've been waiting for this review but got impatient and ordered one a week ago. It arrived today and literally 10 minutes after putting it together I came in the house and saw the review had been posted. Thanks for not roasting it. :)
For anyone who might be interested I switched out all the plastic pulleys to aluminum on my Major Lutie rack and when I measured the before and after it looks like there was about 2.5 pounds less drag with the aluminum pulleys. What I did was stand on a scale and vertically pull down on one of the cables and held it steady while measuring my weight. I then switched out the pulleys and did the same test. I did this at both low weight (15 pounds) and higher weight (50 pounds) and they both showed a difference of around 2.5 pounds. The aluminum pulleys made a big difference in the feel of lightweight exercises but as weight goes up the difference becomes less noticeable. If I remember correctly cost for all the pulleys was about $200.
I have this exact rack for about a year and its exceeded my expectations. For me its been worth every penny and im happy with the purchase and function. Perfect for at home workouts and at home gym. For reference im 5’11 230 athletic build and its sturdy and solid enough for me
Hey man, very interested in purchasing this rack. Especially for the ability to do lat pull downs as well. Does this cable system work well for lat pull downs and seated rows in your opinion. I see it only has a 300lb capacity, that seems low right?
I’d love to see a review of Major Lutie’s Lightning F35 and any other similar folding racks. For those of us that have very little space, these types of racks are very appealing.
That model offers a lot of versatility with how you can set the posts at different widths. Close together you go seated rows; wide apart is good for flies. One concern is that the posts stand on casters.
Would love a updated review of the Rep PR-1100 with lat pull down or Titan T3. How do they still hold up with all of these new budget racks. Thanks in advance.
Appreciate these kind of videos. So many options now compared to the days of the pandemic refreshing the Rogue site to update stock in case something was restocked 😂
Great review! I was wondering that could you review the ER KANG K6 or Mikolo K3, they are pretty similar to Major Lutie and Ritft, I am about to getting one of them!
Coop so I bought the PLM03 after watching this and many other reviews for the unit and i have had it about 6 months now. I am a complete noob when it comes to all things fitness as i am beginning this journey as part of a quality of life change I am making. No matter the unit is great the things you mentioned are accurate like the darn pullup handles moving "frustrating" but bang for the buck i am loving it. They did recently offer a pulley upgrade kit which i got, they are solid and a great upgrade. If like me you want more out of the rack i had to make wood jigs for 3X3 attachments so they would fit my rack like strap safeties, the titan wrist roller, and an amazon leg extension. Only thing i wish was that there were mounting options for the side of the rack supports but again the gauge of steel is the factor there. I am though tempted to tap a couple into places to do so. And now that they are also offering a weight stack upgrade i am tempted to pick that up as well. Thank you again for the great vids your content has really helped me build my space
On a completely unrelated note I'm not a gamer but have been using a virtual reality headset for cardio the past couple months. I've always had a hard time making myself do cardio but this has been a game changer. Thrill of the fight and Supernatural have been my go-to 'games.' As I set up my garage gym I'm leaving plenty of extra floor space for this. Maybe non-traditional cardio options could be an interesting video.
I literally just got this rack delivered today. I was holding off for a while on buying it cause I was waiting for a gym review video on it, but it just never came, until now, that is.
I've got this exact rack. Love it. If I had to pick an issue with it, it would be two things. First is that if you are doing a lower cable workout with the pulley's at the bottom and have some decent weight on, the rack shifts. Of course, you can bolt it or weigh it down. My second gripe is I had a rack before that had an additional lat pull-down assembly that worked great. I got this and with the pulley at the highest setting, there is not enough length to do a lat pull-down unless you sit on the floor... which isn't ideal. There is the pull-up crossbar so, adjust but, still love lat pull-downs. Other than that, this rack is awesome, strong, sturdy, and not terribly expensive. Good buy.
Major-Lutie (now rebranded as Major Fitness) has made a number of attachments available since this review came out including lever arms, monolifts, a seated leg extension/hamstring curl that can also be used as a bulldog pad. Some of the attachments look like they have some pretty interesting features. For example the lever arms can lock into several positions and can also be adjusted in the horizontal direction and include a retracting belt squat stand. I would love to see these attachments reviewed in the context of increasing the versatility of this budget friendly rack.
I've got this exact rack from a different brand. If you're diligent you can get it $100-200 cheaper than the Major Lutie version, but without the bench. I like it a lot except for some minor things: - The pulleys are difficult to move up and down, it could be that I tightened it too much. - The weight sled for the pulley interferes w/ my bench, I can barely get the bench deep enough in the rack for incline benching. - The landmine tightening bolt's plastic came broken in mine, can adjust it w/ a screwdriver, but I never use it so YMMV.
For the lack of cross compatibility with other brands, I wouldn't buy this personally. It is inevitable that we will want to implement something from another brand onto our rack.
You are correct. What do you recommend for me? I watched his rep Athena vs ares. My budget is $5,000 so I’m not trying to cheap out. I’m debating between stand alone like the rep 2.0 or the best rack and pulley system
There are places we're you can buy magnets to place inbetween the attachment and the pin hole to secure the gap, which means you can use almost any attachments out there with this rack, the magnets are like 30$
If you're buying it just for the functional trainer remember that there's functional trainer add-ons you can get for a regular rack, like the Omni pulley and bully glyder
Great review. I was looking at this rack but got the major lutie sml07 rack and smith machine combo instead because I lucked out and found one on marketplace for 500 and its been awesome so far, would love to see a review on that
@@staceyeaton6869 it does pretty much everything I need it to do and more for my workouts, not really any complaints yet. only thing I can bitch about is one of the knobs for the pulleys broke off but that's was from the previous owner
The stuff you review is very high-end. I'd like to see more "cheap" stuff reviewed. Appreciate the content, just not within a lot of people's budgets though.
For the RitFit rack that had the center mounted last pull-down, couldn’t you put the J-cups on the inside of the front posts to still squat in the rack? So that would make it more comparable.

@@cmd_reboot_sim I read reviews that both were built with less-sturdy material, so I went with a slightly thicker steel commercial power rack from Bells of Steel.
