Another great educational video. Who knew how much difference there was between boat-tail, flat and dish face slugs. Really appreciate all the work and time you devote to your channel.😊
I appreciate it very much. This is my hobby i was at the range yesterday I made the videos right at the range. Do a little editing at home a post the video I really enjoy shooting and love making the videos and its great that people like you enjoy watching them. Thanks 👍
Dude, as an avid Airgunner myself, if your regularly plucking god damn eggs at 300yards you don’t need to search anymore. That’s it, you win. It doesn’t get any better than that. Excellent shooting and set up
I’ve been playing around with.30cal 76g boats in at up to 1030fps I’m pretty impressed and I wish there were verities in grain weights available. Love your channel. Not just the same fanboy redundantcy 😂
Great informational vid .. I knew there was a difference.. but didn't imagine it would be that much.. so even 8gr heavier the boat tails fly flatter than a 42gr flat base.. awesome 👌
If i said faster I meant to say flatter. The 50 grain boat tails where a 940 fps and the 42 grain regular slugs where at 990 fps. At 300 yards the 42 grain where two feet lower.
Bill snd Andy got me into AVS slugs over 2 years ago now. I love Steve's slugs, especially the .253 boattails. They are consistent and accurate and have high bc's. I just wish he made a boattail in all the other calibers. Thanks for the video Bill.
It seems that you have turned shooting airguns in to a job. I have never seen someone work so hard to shoot a airgun. Not trying to say that it`s a bad thing. Just saying that most of us who love airguns don`t put in half the time shooting that you do. Hats off to you Sr.
Tremendous shooting/testing. I would suggest one thing to impart more knowledge. Please take a minute or so at the beginning of the video to provide detailed information on the rifle and set up you are using. I am always interested to know what the shooter is utilizing. thanks, Rich
One day I hope to see a good test on a projectiles path being altered by rain. I'm not asking for Bill to have to do it, but it's something I've wondered about for a while. Air and powder projectiles.
Interesting comparisons. It would be cool to see an accuracy comparison between the AVS and Altaros BT slugs at 300 yards. Maybe shoot a 5 shot group with each. Good videos, I appreciate the time and effort.
INtersting results. I'm using.25 700mm superior & Heavy liners. In both I have no luck at all with flat bases. Dish bases I get 70% sub and sub 1/2 MOA.
excellent distances and good shots; The accessory you have to compensate for the drop of the shot caught my attention, what is it called and where can I get it?
I love how far the technology has progressed with air rifles. Now we are at the point of developing the ammunition to match the accuracy of the rifles. Shooting eggs at 300 yards would have been impossible just a couple of years ago. I am wondering how long it will be before we are shooting balloons at a thousand.
I’ve taken of balloon and 1000 yards two years ago with my Airforce texting to .257 here’s here’s a video of taking two balloons at 850 yards ua-cam.com/video/r_mfBYDPlvY/v-deo.htmlsi=QDClInsBipfPgYlG
I would think that skirted slugs would do better. The whole idea of the “skirt” is to seal the air behind the projectile to maximize efficiency of that “puff” of pre measured air. That alone in my mind would make them more consistent if not accurate. That being said the drag would be higher and they may hit even lower the the boat tail slugs.🤷♂️💯 In fairness it was super windy and most of those shots were in the thick of that crazy wind. Nice shooting bud!
You are right skirt slugs are more accurate at shorter ranges by far. Its after 200 yards where they really shine and in real life applications there is no reason to shoot or hunt beyond 100 yards. My shooting is just for fun.
I can never get my FX pocket chrono to read my .257 Texan. Where are you placing your chrono to get a reading. Also, are you programing you FX chrono with anything special?
I’m using the Heritage arms cold shot scope mount it’s not needed for 300 yards but I use it for all my shooting. 300 yards is normally about 13.6 mil over the target.
if you are after for the difference in BC, it could be fair if you zeroed the non boat tails slug at same distance zeroed by the boat tails. because the chance of poi when using other slugs is not only a factor by weight and shape. there are other factor like the change in harmonics
At that distance, it doesn't matter. The boattails are farmore superior in bc. The other slugs shot a lot lower off of the boattails zero, so if he zeroed it in with one of the others, then the boattails would've just shot higher. 😂
@@myairgunrange I'm trying to decide between a uragon 2 or a fx impact m3. I want something to hunt with as well as do target stuff. I like the hubens but they are rare in the UK with our laws
I am such the wrong person to ask that I will never sell any of my air guns. I love them all lol I know I have a problem. I am. both are fantastic. What are you actually looking to do with the rifle.
Shoot some dumdum suckers at 50 and or 100 yards. When I run out of range I start downsizing targets at a closer range. Just spitballing some ideas. I 107% believe Bill would shatter them for sure. In how many shots? Well, only one way to find out! :)

The consistency of the AVS slugs at 300 yards in the Panthera is remarkable.
The flate base do great also. But the boat tail are more consistent in the wind at long range

I shoot in light rain alot. The problem in heavy rain you can't see the targets at long range

great. What 50 grain Bolt tail slug are you using? Do you have a website where to buy? What caliber is your FX panther?
They where Avs slugs google them they come right up. My panthera is .25 cal

Wow?! Who knew. I’m using Griffins boat-tails and they are extremely accurate also. I would like to know what tool you are using to adjust elevation.
Its the heritage arms cold shot
Awesome content with a lot of information 💯💯💯💯
Appreciate that thanks
It's great to see examples of stretching air rifles abilities to shoot long ranges. Can you share what Ballistics Software you use?

Hello there thanks for watching.

I have to put my barrel right on top of it to work no special programming.
Fkng outstanding!💥👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍

What's the bullet drop at 300y that you need to use an adjustable mount rather than twirling the turrets?

Have you ever tried the AGT Uragan 2. Looks a nice rifle i dont know how it compares to the falcon 3
No I haven’t looks like a nice rifle.

My bc calculators show the boatails you were shooting have a bc of around 135 and regular slugs were around 80 correct if I'm wrong
The 50 grain boatails Avs slugs were shooting 949f/s with a bc of .185
👍
Tested 50 grain boat tail slugs, what is the correct name of those slugs
I can't find it anywhere
avsslugs.com/product-category/253/
did you ever refill the air i didnt see it or did you edit it out
You can't see it, but it was tethered on the other side of the rifle
Whear can you find the AVS Boat Tail slugs. Looked on the AVS site and found no BT slugs in 30 cal.
Unfortunately, they don't have the boatails in 30 cal. 25 Cal and 257.
Thanks for the reply@@myairgunrange
In the gap, greetings
Hello thanks for watching
I know you’ve mentioned before but I forget; which diameter are you running? Is it the .253?
Yes the boat tails are .253
what kind of adjustable mount is that you have?
Heritage arms cold shot
What if slug hit rain drop. It Must deflect
Does not seem to
