    So, why does it come with Pro Tools | Standard license instead of Ultimate? How is it going to take fully advantage of the onboard HDX technology? Throwing in a considerable amount of money on a pro level interface should provide you with the pro version of Pro Tools as well in my humble opinion. Otherwise it is a fantastic piece of gear looks like!

      You ask too much man. Protools Ultimate alone costs around 2k, you'll be abel to upgrade at half the price once you done with the Standard or anytime you desire. But I think you are asking too much, money wise

      @@fededj2002 - The interface itself is twice as much as the competition to begin with! But I see what they are doing. They want you to subscribe for Ultimate as well.

      @@zaharishtonov I don't believe it has that much of a competition. That is an AVB 32bit signal flow with total integrity with Protools and hybrid technology, plus you get double the clocking. I have it, and I can tell you, it sounds like nothing before, and I had Antelope and UAD as well. They give you tons of REALLY good plugins, mostly you can track with them with zero latency, to start off. But I am telling you, never had an issue and the workflow is unreal, competely unreal. The native multicore distribution is insanely even. I could talk about hours but I'll stop. Any, it's not really double the price of the competition. UAD costs 3k and it gives you basic plugins and no full integrity, plus if you add the cost of a DAW (cubase), you end up around 4k. Same with the rest of the similar line

      @@fededj2002 - Thanks for the feedback, Federico! It is great to hear from someone that actually owns the technology and has a point of reference. I believe every word you said. I know AVID has been making some pretty ground braking tech lately and it started with the MTRX, then into the MTRX Studio which from what I hear has an insanely good clock and converters. Considering the fact that you don't need anything else to connect the Carbon to your system but just an available network port or Thunderbolt 3 to RJ45 connector, the price is justified for what you get. Thanks again for your input!

    Does the Carbon/Pro Tools support Midi?

    • @WestlakePro
      @WestlakePro  3 роки тому +1

      Pro Tools | Carbon doesn't have 5-pin MIDI I/O, but Pro Tools has pretty in-depth MIDI support, and you can send MIDI out over USB to control any hardware synths, FX, etc.

    Can you record in Logic and export the tracks to Pro Tools and mix there?

    • @WestlakePro
      @WestlakePro  3 роки тому +1

      Good question! Technically, you can use Carbon to record in Logic and then mix in Pro Tools, but some of the advanced features like DSP Mode are only accessible from within Pro Tools. DSP Mode practically eliminates latency while tracking, so you might find yourself wanting to record straight into Pro Tools so you can experience everything Carbon has to offer 😎
      There's a GREAT deal on Pro Tools | Carbon right now that ends soon if that helps your decision! Free Pro Tools | ULTIMATE perpetual license, Auto-Tune Hybrid, and all the other goodies that come with Carbon. More info here: westlakepro.com/buy-pro-tools-carbon/

    Is there any information about AVB support on PC? Motu doesn't officially support direct AVB ethernet to PC for example
    On ARM-based Macs?

    • @WestlakePro
      @WestlakePro  3 роки тому

      Hey Sasha, AVB is not natively compatible with Windows, so Carbon currently is Mac-only. That said, Avid is working on Windows compatibility, which will be available in the future.

    • @Sasha-pz1hy
      @Sasha-pz1hy 3 роки тому

      @@WestlakePro as I know it's just a protocol and natively support even on Linux. It's only lag sowtware troubles.
      So it only works on older gen Macs? Lol

    • @zaharishtonov
      @zaharishtonov 3 роки тому

      They should've really went with DANTE Ethernet protocol instead. It uses standard switches so you could even use your existing network to hook it up, and AVB requires a dedicated AVB switch!

    • @Sasha-pz1hy
      @Sasha-pz1hy 3 роки тому

      @@zaharishtonov no. only network adapters that support protocol are enough between two devices. only in complicated ( > 2 operators) or in already existing network (between printers and other stuff)

    What about latency with hardware inserts?

    • @WestlakePro
      @WestlakePro  3 роки тому

      Hey Jeff, the low-latency DSP mode works with Hardware Inserts. Additionally, you're able to set a delay on the insert path from the I/O setup like on an HDX system. Hope that helps!
