Intresting how diffrent yatzee and marty talk about this game.
@@torugolago One of his greatest quotes was something about him being a critic, so he criticizes.
The second half involved hand shanties, so I'll just leave that out.
I know Yatzs made a whole video about how he doesn’t hate video games. But so often it really does feel like he just hates video games. His standards seem to be insanely high
I take it as Yahtzee will bring up the worst the game has and rip it to shreds. So if what he's criticizing is incredibly insignificant then the game is fantastic.
Yahtzee said he really liked the game too. He felt it has the proper amount of crunch to the combat and felt fun to play. He just considered it a “popcorn game” that he probably wouldn’t really think about or come back to again later.
That does mean that Marty seemed to like it more. But Yahtzee did still like it too.
Same thing happened with Nine Sols. I feel like Yahtzee is bitter by default, and extra bitter when on stream.
Pyre! The magical wizard basketball soccer game?
Realm of the Mad God feels.
Oh, I wonder why Marty skipped over The Adventure Of Link. I do not wonder this. I am being sarcastic. This is sarcasm.
Marty always sounds so enthusiastically positive when talking about games that it hurts my brain when I remember that he was one of the guys sitting on that couch during the infamous "Sonic was never good" video from a few years ago, it seems generally incongruent with the vibes he gives off in his writing. I guess that's why one can't simply write off a reviewer after hearing/reading a single one of their takes.
BTW I wholeheartedly agree that Yoku is a great example of how to mix together two very different genres.
My game of the year, one of the best indie games I’ve ever played.
It's currently my #2 behind Persona 3 Reload. Thoroughly adored it!
Seems cool. Looks like something that will eventually be in a Humble Bundle.
Alternate reality where link gets a gun:
The footage and the music just screams play this game. And i think i will.
I loved this game. There’s absolutely no bloat to it-no dumb collectathons, no crafting, no obnoxious fetch quests. Just a really satisfying game that can be completed at 100% in about 10 hours. Having grown up with the NES and SNES, I really miss tightly designed games like this.
I gotta say, this is the closest I've ever come to seeing a twin stick shooter type game and actually thinking I might enjoy it. Mostly because the average enemy bullet speed seems to be lower than most any other such game I've seen and yeah, that really helps. Just too bad the art direction is so... flat and minimal Flash game looking though. One step forward and one step back.
I appreciate the style of opening reviews with the game's main theme.
Played through this last month. One of my absolute favorite games so far this year.
Great game! It's actually on sale right now. I think 20% off.
Really enjoy these little reviews. Nice and snappy. This definitely sounds like a game that I would enjoy I'll have to check it out.
Laika is an interesting combination of a metroidvania and excitebike
Classic little guy in a big world 😊
I am glad that you gave both this and Nine Sols a more fair reviews, after Yahtzee just casually dismissed them both after one hour of gameplay.
Both perspectives are good and useful. I think that's a major strength of this channel, a collection of consistent critics with different tastes.
Not expecting anyone to watch/listen to every minute of SW content but Yahtzee said in the most recent Windbreaker that he's playing Nine Sols in his free time and enjoying it.
I played it after watching Yahtzee's try and I liked it. I will caution anyone who cares about narrative that the game refuses to end, and it won't do so in a satisfying way. You beat the last boss, then you beat the true last boss, then you have to beat a gauntlet of all the bosses to fight the true true last boss and I don't know if it kept going after that because I stopped playing. I enjoyed my time with it, would also recommend it, but I can't help but feel a little sour that I ended up stopping because it kept claiming the true true true ending was just over the next hill when it ended fine after the credits rolled!
I absolutely loved this game. It will likely be my GOTY.
Already played it, absolutely fantastic game.
I picked this up after hearing you guys talk about it. Great Recommendation! Really enjoyed this game!
NEXT JUMP: Shmup Tactics was a game I played a few years ago that combined shoot em up, bullet hell, and turn-based strategy. It was a fun combination I wouldn't've thought would work but it did.
If you like this game, play archvale
When I heard about it the first time here on Second Wind, I was surprised how long the game has been out already.
Would've expected a bit more trara for what the game provides.
Hell, even now it's only the second time, no pun intended, that I see someone talking about it.
Honestly, I'd thought I'd like it from the Yahtzee Tries stream/review and I still think it looks fun enough. I'm almost always down for a quick twin-stick shooter.
This looks so fun
Really glad I picked this up based on a friend's recommendation. It's a tight game with really great sound design, and it never overstays its welcome!
Yoku rocks!
Nice
No nonsense review, thanks 👍
sounds lovely
Neat!❤

If you're curious and unsure if you'd like the game or not : the game has a pretty generous demo to try out ! Just did, I'm totally hooked haha
