Just this past friday, he was just at a local show in melvindale, 10 minutes from my house. My gf and I had trouble finding the ring, and he and the company's announcer walked out, and politely told us we were in the right spot. then he said as a matter of fact here is necro butcher. he said hello how are you, enjoy the show and walked by less than a foot away. all i could say was holy shit.totally, forgot all rational thought #shamelessadultmark I wish i had offered to smoke him out! >< one of the politest guys ive seen on video
I was in a no holds barred Death match at the Oklahoma State Fair with this guy. Real down to Earth dude, good ring worker... He bought me a bratwurst and beer after the match.
The ironic thing about this interview is that Necro Butcher is probably one of the only guys I'd pay money to get a picture or an autograph from. I thought he was just another crazy ass wrestler, but he comes across well spoken and very intelligent. I hope he's made enough dollars, because he sure has given the ring more then his fair share of blood, sweat and tears.
I don't comment (EVER) but damit this man is the true definition of a wrestler and wrestling fan! I give much respect to him an what he's done!! Salute
Man, hearing Necro talk out of character just underlines how much of a good guy he is. As insane and scary as he could be in the ring, he really was there for the love of the work.
I didn't want the video to be over because I didn't want to stop listening to him talk. You can go an entire year and not get to hear someone so humble and selfless and down to earth. Almost like medicine in this otherwise rotting cesspool of a world.
One of my all-time favorite professional wrestlers , He takes nuttier bumps than anybody else. He isn't afraid of being stiffed. He isn't afraid to stiff the hell out of somebody. He doesn't make a match more complicated than it needs to be. He's efficient.
That sounds 1000x cooler than lining up to just be another face. I met Ricky Steamboat, the Rock n Roll Express, Teddy Long, JJ Dillon, and Ric Flair, and for Flair I had to wait in line. The others I didn't have to and the experience felt so much greater. I got to ACTUALLY STAND AND HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH RICKY STEAMBOAT. As opposed to being just another face in the line.
Necro is the man. I worked on quite a few shows with him in metro Detroit years back. One of the best & most humble people in the business that I ran across. Also very intelligent. Necro could drink & case of beer, take shots of Fireball all night AND have a sensical, intellectual discussion with you afterward.
This is the same awesome mentality as the countless punk/metal bands who play in basements in front of 10 people after an 8 hour drive, play their hearts out and leave with 20 bux gas money. The TRUE warriors of the underground (be it wrestling, extreme music, etc.) are in it for the love of their craft, its history, and with the simple hope that their performances (even in a small town VFW or basement) in front of often only a handful of people will continue to inspire others to keep these rad subcultures alive in a world where nearly everything is becoming a commodity controlled by people with no interest in anything other than the financial angle. Signing autographs for $ is a fuckin joke. It's totally cool to have a donation can (and most people will toss in a buck for an autograph or give ya some free bud/hash) but just the sheer fact that someone wants your auto has always been for me an honor and payment in itself. As far as other merch like shirts and stuff, I think that's totally fine as long as their sold near cost. Selling a shirt that cost 5-8 bux for $20 is just b.s. and greed, for in the end the value of the promo gained by someone wearing a t-shirt with you or your band logo, etc. on it is invaluable. Long live all those who support and participate in the DIY undergrounds of the performance arts for the sheer love of it.
He mentioned the civic center in wheeling WVA. Been there soooo many times while growing up in the ‘70s. Saw the icons. And yes you could walk up to them and get a autograph or pic.... for free! Those were great years!!
its incredible how smart this guy is. really could have done almost anything with his life, but he loves wrestling. one of my favorites. but holy shit, going to uni at 15. that'd be so uncomfortable
Politics and other phony bullshit aside, Necro Butcher is one of the most intelligent minds in the entirety of professional wrestling, even after everyone looked at him nowadays and say he has some CTE and shit. Have only talked to Necro once. Hamilton, Canada, 2018. Me and him eventually had a near 15 minute chatter about basically everything wrestling and philosophy in the wrestling business. He told me that if I were to get into the business, "you better keep your mouth shut most of the time; inspect and develop and not seek some same old shit from the typical 170-pounder." He is an utterly excellent speaker and I will stand by that until the day I die.
I agree with Necro, I know selling merch is how guys make money, but everyone has gimmicks and it is ridiculous. I went to a show where at least 17 guys were selling merch, that is just ridiculous, and most likely, only the big names are making money and the lesser known guys aren't selling shit. I went to a chikara show and basically everyone was selling merchandise, I like Bryce, but referees selling merchandise is just ridiculous
I was at the Rochester War Memorial in New York for WWF in the 80's and my nephew took me over to the far end where nobody was sitting right next to the spot where the wrestlers come out through the curtain. It was a elevated area so that you could look down and literally touch the wrestlers if they reached up to you and sitting all by his lonesome watching everything from the way back was Chief J Strongbow. The man was long retired from active in Ring performance but was some kind of agent because after I met him that day my nephew pointed him out to me I started noticing him and Sgt Slaughter working with security to escort the talent back and forth to and from the ring on television 📺.
Very honorable and honest dude. But......I will say, that alone doesn't pay the bills. I had to sell the 8x10's for extra cash while in the indies. Lotta respect for this guy. Glad I never worked with him tho lol.
Mega Titan even if it does pay the bills - it doesn’t give him security for when he’s unable to work anymore. I know his heart is clearly in the right place but he needs to think about providing a comfortable life for himself and his daughter.
I'm happy Necro Butcher chose wrestling. Honest , nice guy when it comes down to it. Other 15 year olds that went to college that comes to is the Unabomber.
I totally understanding & agree with some of the things that his saying I've been to indie wrestling show not a lot but been to enough shows (Indie Wrestling Show's) I've seen wrestlers, ref's & even ring announcers selling merchandise some charge up in the ass not all of them & I'm not hating on certain wrestlers, ref's & ring announcers making money or anything like that & plus if your in the wrestling business there's no retirement or social security or anything like that you can get enough money & save it as will
Love how he's legit enjoying that Colt 45 40oz Malt Liquor Beer while doing this shoot interview. Can't be any realer. Just a regulate guy shooting the shit on camera
Shows me how good this guy is at his job, In an era were pretty much all kayfabe is long gone I though this character was a legitimate nutcase in real life and in the ring but he actually comes across as quite a cool decent guy in real life. Should have been a bigger star in wrestling.
Jim Cornette gave Butcher nothing but praise and said he was a highly intelligent man. Given Butcher's wrestling style that means something coming from Corny.
I've had the pleasure to meet Mr. Butcher twice so far and I can confirm he is as cool as he acts in this video. Once at CZW and once at CHIKARA. I don't have it in me to bother someone for an autograph or anything like that after shows (I will if they're sitting at a table or something but I never pay for that stuff so the only people who I've gotten to sign anything were Chuck Taylor and Bryan Danielson at the one Chikara show he did in Taylor, Michigan while he was suspended from WWE for choking that dude with a tie. I had him sign a tie.) but I wish I would have had some weed for him. Maybe if I catch him again.
If Butcher came up an said I had a cute kid, I would document the moment for the future of my child so he could bask in it's glory knowing the great one anointed them as a cute kid oh so many years ago.
A lot of people aren't money smart. I think he is objecting for great reasons, but not understanding that it's a good idea to have alternative sources of income because life happens. One day you have money and the next you have nothing. Not charging kids outside shows is wonderful. I think the only reason he charges inside the show is because it is in his contract, so the event makes more money.
What an awesome attitude.
jesus he is the most humble man in wrestling

Met Necro at the Filsinger card game convention and got to play a Legends of Wrestling match with him. Very personable, down-to-earth, regular guy.

he was reading philosophy books while taking a shit ?

Necro is one of the few wrestlers today that I could listen to all day. Dude's so down to earth.
LMFAO "I've moved in with women that I have no business even talking to."

"Nigh time digging. Really sends people over the edge" HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Wow he really seems like an insightful and reasonable guy.
I like the last part, where he says when you look like me you can't do certain things. It shows his common sense, which most liberals don't have.
