  • This is how I clean my aluminum baffles for my Huntertown Arms Suppressor Guardian 22. I use a Duel Rotary Drum Rock Tumbler and Stainless Steel media with some water and a couple of drops of Dawn dish detergent.
Also a half of a 9mm case of Lemi-shine in the mix works great!
What do you use, let me know...

Thanks for the great video. Like you said, there are not many videos out there.dealing with cleaning aluminum baffles Anyway, after waiting 7 months, I got my stamp and picked up my (all aluminum) Q Erector Suppressor (for those wondering, I submitted the paperwork on 11/27/17 and the stamp arrived on 6/27/18). I'm gonna give your method a try.

You can also use a wood dowel to push those baffles out, less likely to damage a baffle in the long run.

Thanks for the video, I recently got a Huntertown Arms suppressor as well but ponied up for the stainless baffles. Do you have any issues with the stainless media beating up the aluminum?
I haven't decided how to clean mine easier yet (first time I opened mine up, it looked like it was full of sand and tar and that was after less than 200 rounds!). I have an ultra sonic cleaner on order but now I'm thinking I should have gotten a tumbler setup like yours.
Also, nice trick with the sockets and mallet!

I havent had a problem with the media beating up the baffles at all. I even forgot and left the tumbler running for around 22 hours last weekend and they were fine. The tumbler motor was hot though. The media doesnt clean all of the lead from the inside of the baffles but it cleans them enough for me to live with right now. I will opt for the Kestrel baffles after while but for now I will get my moneys worth out of the aluminum ones first.
I have tried a few other methods for removal of the baffles, dowels and even the AAC baffles stack removal tool. But, Yes, The socket set and a rubber mallet works the best for me and it hasnt damaged my baffles yet!! If you are squeamish about your suppressor, I wouldnt try it cause sometimes I really have to bang on the baffles to get them to budge!
      Thanks for watching!!!

Haha!!.... We havent seen you at South River yet! I use the Frankford Arsenal Drum now a days! Just throw the baffles in with some Brass and the pins, a little Dawn and 9mm case worth of Lemishine and bam!! Cleaner than it was before!

I know man, I've literally been so busy with work and family I haven't had any range time. I'll be heading out to meet Isaac to host a week of shooting on the ranch though, should have some fun footage coming. I really want to get out once a week and shoot. How early can you go to SRGC on a Saturday or sunday?

Great video...I have a Surefire Ryder 22 caliber can.(Aluminum).. You are correct there are very few videos on how to clean these .. (and once you shoot for a while they are not easy to take apart). I will give you some advice.. Do not handle dirty pins without Latex gloves.. Lead, will be in the pins and water..

I shoot a lot 3x per week and in the winter most of it is indoors. It is hard to find a properly vented indoor range.. Even when you sweep up or pick up your brass you are being exposed to lead.. Same thing with cast bullets (Making your own, or shooting them) more exposure.. Then if you shoot shotgun guess what more lead exposure..
Cleaning anything firearm or Suppressor related means lead exposure.. I had a simple blood test done to check my lead levels and they were elevated. (not near as bad as a friend of mine). So i cut way back on shooting indoors and paid more attention to cleaning up right after shooting or any exposure.. Then taking a good shower when i got home and the clothing I had on went right in to the wash..
Good news my levels dropped significantly after one year and at 2 years are almost normal.. I am older so not as alarmed as if I were a Child or a twenty something.. Hope this helps anyone who takes the time to read it..

Just read elsewhere to NOT use SS media on the baffles, that it could strip the anodizing.......just ordered an ultra sonic cleaner...hoping to find a recommended solvent to use otherwise I may try your Dawn recommendation! Thnx!

Well hell. I was just wondering if I could clean my pilots aluminum baffles in a tumbler. Now I just gotta finish building my tumbler! Cool.

I never thought about tumbling the baffle parts. Worked great. No fuss, no muss. You can stop looking for a way to clean your suppressor parts. Water, Dawn, Lemi-Shine and stainless media is all that’s needed.

Yes, this process has worked for me for years in cleaning my suppressor parts. I also use this Water, Dawn and Lemi Shine mixture to clean range brass in a bigger tumbler along with the stainless steel media.

Really appreciate the video man. Just got my stamp for my Guardian 22. Are you still using the cleaning method with good effect?

+Matt R Oh yes, Still using this method. Only addition has been adding a small amount of Lemi-shine to the mix. By small amount I mean a take a spent 9mm case and fill the casing about half full and add it in. It doesn't take much! Works good for cleaning brass for reloading also!!

Awesome - really appreciate the info! Been reading all kinds of different methods and I really wasn't impressed. Will try this one. Thanks again!

I havent watched this video ina while so just in case I didnt mention it. This method doesnt remove ALL of the lead build up, but it does get the majority off. There will still be some build up on the baffle stacks.

Spoke to a Surefire Rep.. He said to soak any anodized parts in CLR for 2 hours..(The Baffles).. But do not do this to the tube since it is not treated..
