Gryffindor and Slytherin are on opposite ends of the Great Hall, and it's memorable because in order for Draco to taunt Harry all the time, he literally has to prance to the other side of the hall to do so
I always remember because it made sense like “let’s put the two houses that tend to have the hardest rivalry on the walls because they would avoid putting Huffs and Claws in the crossfire
I just wanted to say, THANK YOU for these quizes! I made the mistake of telling my roommate that I want to be the ultimate Harry Potter fan, now she's decided to become more knowledgeable than me, just out of spite. This will keep me ahead of her plots!
One thing I always imagined is that the heads of house sleep in the common room. That they have their own private quarters attached to it just like the multiple sleeping rooms. The Griffondor common room also always felt relatively small. There are over 100 students in Griffondor so for those to live reasonably comfortably the common room needs to be very big.
I've been watching a lot of your J vs Ben video's lately and was thinking it would be nice if you put the quote where the answer is in the books after you answer the question. Especially when you guys don't know. And don't go complaining about how much extra work that is, I KNOW you look up the facts from the quizzes you didn't know!
24 correct, although I could kick myself with the first sorting to Gryffindor. I somehow missed Gryffindor and ended up reading only first sorting. Of Course! It had to be Hannah. After that I was staring at the screen for 10 seconds in complete shutdown wondering what had just happened. Keep up the good work, you are great, guys!
It seems a lot of people are having that problem, but at least you realize the mistake! All the other comments I've read are people arguing with the quiz answer.
In the book where Harry gets his nose smashed (at least I think it's that one) there is reference to his having to walk past every other table to take his seat.
Two things: 1. Poor Ben needs a hug, this was not his day 2. I can't believe they didn't know the school motto or the position of the house tables! they would crush this quiz in 2020
"Abbott, Hannah!" "HUFFLEPUFF!" shouted the hat. The *table on the right* cheered and clapped. "Boot, Terry!" "RAVENCLAW!" The *table second from the left* clapped this time. "Brown, Lavender" became the first Gryffindor and the *table on the far left* exploded with cheers. "Bulstrode, Millicent" then became a Slytherin. According to my calculations, from left to the right from the staff table the arrangement of the tables is: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, *Slytherin, Hufflepuff* NOT Hufflepuff and then Slytherin. Hufflepuffs are at the corner.
The fun part about the gryffindor table and the slytherin table being on different sides of the room is that every time Harry and Draco had a "conversation" in the great hall they had to yell over two full tables, and were still able to hear eachother
Also: there was a time when harry had to go in when every one was already seated and he had to pass all the tables, so table in a corner. I think it was the time Malfoy broke his nose.
I always imagined that they could sit at any table they want besides the sorting ceremony and the house cup ceremony. Considering that Luna sits with them sometimes this makes sense
Yeah, I felt like giving him a pat on the back or something but at the same time it's just so hilarious to watch. His anguish is just so authentic. I was laughing at one moment then feeling wicked at the next. Also yes! Of course I'll take the SCB quizzes! I love SCB! I love quizzes!
I feel like it’s such a pain to be a Ravenclaw because after a long day of classes you just want to go back to the common room and then they give you a riddle that you now have to solve
the one giving the questions also fucked up,cause for us myrtle is the last one and not C, C was Bloody Bauron which would be correct, but he also put B which is Peeves and he would be wrong
I was rooting for Ben to come from behind, until he missed the stairs turning into a slide one. That seemed especially memorable to me. Of all the trivial details of Hogwarts that no one really cares about*, the one that is actually important is the thing that prevents boys from sneaking into the girls' dorm. And I would have given him the point for "Astrology Tower". In the wizarding world, astronomy and astrology really are the same thing. It's not like they're studying astrophysics *I got the number of staircases right, but it was just a lucky guess.
Carlos Thadeu ok but actually the quiz randomizes the order of the questions every time you pull it up and he just took screengrabs of it separately from when he read it out so they came up in different orders.
Here's a thought about why there is 142 staircases in Hogwarts, its because 1, 4 and 2 added together is 7, which of course is a magical number. Coincidentally I only got 7 questions wrong
That really must be why. Since it's in the first book, where details were more often for effect rather than any sense of world-detailing, it was probably just an arbitrarily large number that would imply a massive building, but also have a secret little quirk of adding up to seven.
In the book, Gryffindor & Slytherin are on opposite ends, and is easily remembered by the realization that every argument between Harry & Draco in the great hall is that they’re arguing across the whole room
Also in book two after Harry and Ron walk in late due to them coming to school via the flying car, Snape accuses of Harry only wanting the attention of everyone by coming late and passing EVERYBODY so they'd see him. That implies that the Gryffindor table has to be on the end opposite to the entrance.
@@kreia187 The ends of all the house tables are together at the entrance to the great hall, about equally accessible there. Harry and Ron sit at the end of their table closest to the head table at the back of the hall.
No they really haven't. I've read the series a few times only and taking the test on my own without looking at the multiple choice, I got eighty percent correct. They didn't even get the first one right
This is a great idea...! Actually, in general the game should increase in points value to make it more exciting. But spot on with the point reference at the end!
Omg yesssssssss I remember this because when I was re-reading recently a friend and I got into a massive laughing fit when we realized that it meant Draco put in extra effort to shout his mocking comments about harry from the complete opposite side of the room so they could carry to the furthest table from where he was sitting.
I love DK's voice! (That's what you guys call him I believe?) For extra measure, the guy who voices the questions! He should read audio books! I would listen to him all day!
See, when they get sorted in the first book the gryffindor table is one of the middle ones, but in the goblet of fire when dumbledore reads Harry’s name out he’s at the table against the wall with Ron so...which one is it!?
"There are several secret passage ways out of the castle" "Wed recomend..." "This One!!" "The one eyed witch passageway" "I'd take you straight to Honeydukes cellar!" "But just be worry Filtch is coming this way!" "Oh and Harry remember," "When your done just give it a tap and say" "Mischief Managed!!" "Otherwaise Anyone Could Read It."
Guys, never tickle a sleeping dragon - draco dormiens nunquam tittilandus - how could you not know that one! (Although to be fair you know more than i do)
Wait I’m pretty sure Hannah is the first student sorted in Harry’s year. Like I’m positive. edit: I looked and the book, and, yes it was definitely Hannah 😂 edit 2: IM AN ACTUAL IDIOT it said sorted into gryffindor 😂 oOPS
This confused me so much because I forgot she was a gryffindor bc when she broke up with ron she sits on a different table from him in the movie and I was like whaaaaaasat but that’s just bc sometimes they sit with friends in different places I guess
I know Eton is an English school, it's also very famous. And it doesn't matter that he isn't English or Scottish to pronounce argyllshire correctly - it would take 5mins on google to find the correct pronunciation.
They already have a theory about why no one can get rid of Peeves and how he came to be. Basically he is the accumulation of all the young witches and wizards that attend the school so it makes sense that he would hang out where those same witches and wizards are honored and memorialized.
Fantasy Stats Guru i think there is something more, since peeves was generated by former students i think it left a personality inprint on him, he hangs around the trophies so much because he feels some sort pride over them like the students he was generated from (sorry for my bad English)
My (completely baseless) theory is that: a) he likes looking at his reflection in the trophies, b) he likes trashing them about to then force Filch/students in detention to clean them up (i.e. have targets to prank)
Exactly. I wouldn't count it because it only exists as long as the Room of Requirements is the safety room for the students. Once the room changes to something else. The passage no longer exists.
I wouldn't have thought the Vanishing Cabinets counted as a passage because they transport the user like apparation rather than giving them a path like a passage would.
7 is a super magical number, so 7 passages makes sense and 142 staircases, the digits add to 7, so with the multiple choice that one became really easy.
A question for you: what flavour ice cream did Harry eat on his first trip to Diagon Alley? Answer: chocolate and raspberry with chopped nuts This is the kind of random thing that I remember from the books
My guess for 24 was always tickle a sleeping dragon cause Dumbledore's weird like that and I could believe he'd use that as a metaphor for not hesitating to take risks
I remember it from the loading screen of the Deathly Hallows Part 2 game, where the school crest with the motto in Latin was displayed. It read “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus.”
I love how Slytherin and Gryffindor are both on the edge because when people realize this they also realize that both houses are constantly going out of the way to bother each other and/Or yelling insults across the room.
That's something that gets me about how Hogwarts would appear to a muggle: I would totally try to explore some abandoned ruins! So ... would I enter to find Hogwarts, or would I continue to perceive it as mouldering old ruins?
What happens if a non muggle enters or leaves the castle while a muggle is out there? Do they just remain hidden or do they appear to walk out of the ruins, or is there some warning charm that alerts those inside of a muggles presence?
My favourite thing about the house table organisation is that harry and Draco must have been intently staring at each other to be able to pick up on the things the other one was doing. It would be waaaaay easier to just not notice the other, and considering Harry's eyesight that's even more of an impressive feat 😂😂
About a year ago my best friend and I attended a Harry Potter event at our library where we entered a trivia contest. I was eliminated about halfway through, but towards the end my best friend was still in the running as the questions got harder and harder. The final question was the same as the thumbnail for this video: "How many staircases does Hogwarts have?" She was the only one who answered correctly and won!
kaya quinn I don't want to give her name, but she says she's probably read through the series at least 20 times in her life. Unlike me, she actually read the books as a kid before she saw the movies.
The only reason I know the hogwarts school motto is because it’s in Latin and I take Latin class at school, so it’s a frequent topic of discussion. Also, dragon in Latin in Draco, so it sticks in my mind
Knowing Dumbledore, he probably kept Tom Riddle's award up to show that even those who are given awards can go bad/already be bad and that we should not become too proud about such things.
Joseph Simpson Maybe they can't take it away. Just as how some regrettable Nobel prizes have never been revoked by the committee, nor have they ever even publicly stated regret.
I would love to find out which teachers would be against removing it, for there to be a debate. It wouldn't be Snape without looking suspect. (and really Tiffany Marie? that is where you go on a discussion like this?)
Jelly Bean remember the portrait from hogs head to the room of requirement , that wasn't on the mauraders map so Fred and George didn't know about it until The Deathly Hallows, that was counted as the 8th
Order of the Phoenix is literally sitting next to me while I watch this video, and I'm literally like 3 chapters ahead of the part with educational decree number 27, and literally the second he asked that question, my brain immediately went to the number 27
I love watching Harry Potter videos from you guys! I only just recently saw the films for the first time ever, and this week I started reading the books and I'm currently halfway through Chamber of Secrets.
Levi Reeves I agree with the other commenter that Chamber is one of the worst in the series, but keep reading- the series’s overall story arc has to be in the top five of all fictional worlds ever created
Levi Reeves They didn’t leave a negative comment, CoS is still a great book but it’s universally thought of as the weakest book. Still fun to read, don’t get upset about it. Enjoy the books.
After watching the movies I definitely agree. I think the only fictional series I enjoy more is Star Wars. And I know I'm probably in the unpopular opinion but I (so far) have enjoyed the Harry Potter films more than the books themselves. The books have a lot more information then the movies, but the movies are just more enjoyable to me. (Plus when reading a book I can't look at Emma Watson's pretty face, lol)
I am so annoyed with pottermor GRYFFINDOR IS NEXT TO HUFFLEPUFF NOT RAVENCLAW Goblet of fire ' He set off the gap between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables.' HUFFLEPUFF!!!!!!
But in The Order of the Phoenix it is hinted/said that Ravenclaw is next to Gryffindor When Cho was mad at Harry for w/e reason she sat at the Ravenclaw Table with her back showing at Harry And in The Half-blood Prince when Harry was late to the feast at the beginning of the school year he had to run across the hall to get to his seat And when he came across other houses he mentioned a few of them Last was Cho from Ravenclaw which indicates that her table is next to his
I would have thought that you were right - it just makes more sense to me for the houses to be arranged in alphabetical order. However, I just reread the chapter on sorting ceremony in Sorcerer's Stone - it was explicitly mentioned that the order is G, R, H, S.
@@Darlinqslittleworld also in the 4th when a girl sitting at the ravenclaw table asks for bouillabaisse and she was right across from hp (did i spell that right? get it cuz like spells and hp dang my jokes get worse every day maybe i need to get a time turner)

Pen Tagram I always forget the word they use for tickel (is it a real word?)
i was listening and watching and i didn't notice the "house" ghost specification, you and me Ben, i feel ya
What you guys should do is come up with quizzes for each other.
Hahahaha, i just went trough the exact same thing - except i didnt realise until i saw your comment XD
This confused me so much because I forgot she was a gryffindor bc when she broke up with ron she sits on a different table from him in the movie and I was like whaaaaaasat but that’s just bc sometimes they sit with friends in different places I guess
Izz Frizz That... would be Lavender, I think?
I only remember because it goes in alphabetical order.
DK should narrate the Harry Potter books!
Why? He mispronounces Argyllshire and I've seen him mispronounce Eton as well.
prigg88 Eton is a English school .he isn’t British ;-;
I know Eton is an English school, it's also very famous. And it doesn't matter that he isn't English or Scottish to pronounce argyllshire correctly - it would take 5mins on google to find the correct pronunciation.
Mads Christian Larsen YES!
WOW!! I sucked at this!! *grabs HP books from the shelves to re-read again!*
THEORY FOR WHY PEEVES IS ALWAYS AT THE TROPHY ROOM
They already have a theory about why no one can get rid of Peeves and how he came to be. Basically he is the accumulation of all the young witches and wizards that attend the school so it makes sense that he would hang out where those same witches and wizards are honored and memorialized.
Fantasy Stats Guru i think there is something more, since peeves was generated by former students i think it left a personality inprint on him, he hangs around the trophies so much because he feels some sort pride over them like the students he was generated from (sorry for my bad English)
My (completely baseless) theory is that:
a) he likes looking at his reflection in the trophies,
b) he likes trashing them about to then force Filch/students in detention to clean them up (i.e. have targets to prank)
filch holds it in high regard so it annoys him and there is a lot of stuff to knock over and brake
He likes shiny things.
The secret 8th passageway to the hogs head was only there because of the room of requirement
KeLoVa BaPaFe seriously? I never knew that!
You are correct, it only appeared after all the others had been blocked.
PuRpLe XeiDaMoKa technically Draco's is accessed from Borgin and Burke's from Knockturn Alley
I think Hermione mentioned the number of staircases in Sorcerer's Stone.
Also, I would so do a SuperCarlinBrother's HP quiz!
No Harry did, it was at the very beginning, when he and Ron were always getting lost.
It was mentioned from a narrative point of view, no one actually said it.
I just reread the first book :D
I had no idea they changed the order of the house tables in the movies. Weird.
it was so draco could talk to harry from a closer placing instead of yelling across 3 tables
Pony Mad it would be funnier if Draco had to yell, although I'm sure it would've gotten him in trouble IRL.
yea
I feel like every video starts with Ben saying he’s won 1 in a row, however every video ends with J winning lol 😂😂😂😂
7 is a super magical number, so 7 passages makes sense and 142 staircases, the digits add to 7, so with the multiple choice that one became really easy.
Never thought of that! Cool!
can you guys make a video on how coco fits into the Pixar theory? Please!
Jacqueline Heisel Or just Pixar videos! I’ve had to skip a whole week of their channel due to these other videos!
Ben is so angry in this one it is both concerning and hilarious
If you’re reading this...
you’re not the first comment
Bases loaded Baseball lol
True
A question for you: what flavour ice cream did Harry eat on his first trip to Diagon Alley?
Answer: chocolate and raspberry with chopped nuts
This is the kind of random thing that I remember from the books
Chocolate and raspberry with chopped nuts! I remember this!
Alex Riptide YAAAS IM NOT ALONE!!!!
Chocolate and raspberry with Chopped nuts !!!!!! YES OTHER PEOPLE GET THIS
Chocolate with raspberries
Leonor Granger is a Ravenclaw How much did it cost him?
My guess for 24 was always tickle a sleeping dragon cause Dumbledore's weird like that and I could believe he'd use that as a metaphor for not hesitating to take risks
True. Dumbledore didn't come up with the school's motto though.
I remember it from the loading screen of the Deathly Hallows Part 2 game, where the school crest with the motto in Latin was displayed. It read “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus.”
I remember reading it multiple times from fun facts
Dumbledore didn’t found Hogwarts .. 😅
He didn't found it, but his personality fits the school
Ben's confused face for these questions has me dying 😂😂
I’m here I’m here! I was in the middle of another you tube video but I saw a vs from the bros and I clicked!!!
Me too XD
Me three
Ikr?
You gotta have priorities
This trumps game theory any day of the week
I love how Slytherin and Gryffindor are both on the edge because when people realize this they also realize that both houses are constantly going out of the way to bother each other and/Or yelling insults across the room.
Alex Riptide Mostly Harry and Draco
@@arandomuser9459 the most dramatic boys in the castle
That's something that gets me about how Hogwarts would appear to a muggle: I would totally try to explore some abandoned ruins! So ... would I enter to find Hogwarts, or would I continue to perceive it as mouldering old ruins?
NobodyWhatsoever it would also have a muggle repelling charm on it, so you would always think of a reason why you couldn't at the time.
I'd keep going back and eventually ignore whatever alleged obligation the charm puts into my mind. I have a knack for shirking responsibilities.
The spell makes it to where you can not go in. There is no way around the charm.
What a disappointment ... that would be ... if the books were real ... /looks around/ Yeah ... that got it.
Emma Leigh Harry has great eye sight with his glasses
About a year ago my best friend and I attended a Harry Potter event at our library where we entered a trivia contest. I was eliminated about halfway through, but towards the end my best friend was still in the running as the questions got harder and harder. The final question was the same as the thumbnail for this video: "How many staircases does Hogwarts have?" She was the only one who answered correctly and won!
Anna Kerr I entered a contest and I came in second. I was 10 and it was an adult contest
Anna Kerr who is this amazing person?
kaya quinn I don't want to give her name, but she says she's probably read through the series at least 20 times in her life. Unlike me, she actually read the books as a kid before she saw the movies.
Good for her!
no i think its 142
The only reason I know the hogwarts school motto is because it’s in Latin and I take Latin class at school, so it’s a frequent topic of discussion. Also, dragon in Latin in Draco, so it sticks in my mind
And if I’m not mistaken, “dormiens”, is also a word used in the motto, like “Draco Dormiens…” and that reminds me of dormitory, where you sleep.
NEVER TICKLE A SLEEPING DRAGON! Come on, Carlins! 😒
Tyler Messer same
Right
"Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus"
Knowing Dumbledore, he probably kept Tom Riddle's award up to show that even those who are given awards can go bad/already be bad and that we should not become too proud about such things.
Ilvermorny student transfers to Hogwarts:
Student: What house are you in?
Transfer student: is pukwudgie an option?
Maybe there's a debate among the teachers as to whether they should remove Tom Riddle's award, like with the Confederate statues in America.
Joseph Simpson Maybe they can't take it away. Just as how some regrettable Nobel prizes have never been revoked by the committee, nor have they ever even publicly stated regret.
Elijah Mikhail yeah isn't it funny how Trump doesn't have a Nobel Peace prize yet? he bombed the same places as Obama after all.
I would love to find out which teachers would be against removing it, for there to be a debate. It wouldn't be Snape without looking suspect.
(and really Tiffany Marie? that is where you go on a discussion like this?)
Well, the awards could have Permanent Sticking Charms on them, which would add all new meaning to the "we can't remove it" argument.
Most probably don't remember it is in there. My thought is that it should be removed from the trophy room but not destroyed.
It was when Fred and George said there are SEVEN secret passageways in the castle
Another hint is Snape was annoyed that Lily was on the other side of the room
And Cho Chang was able to go over and talk to Harry
Jelly Bean remember the portrait from hogs head to the room of requirement , that wasn't on the mauraders map so Fred and George didn't know about it until The Deathly Hallows, that was counted as the 8th
Naya Diab well the room created the passage, it wasn’t always there!
Honestly planning on making my senior quote “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus”
Cole Gamba what dose that mean?
Mine would be:
Nitwit!
Blubber!
Oddment!
Tweak!
kaya quinn Never tickle a sleeping dragon
Sound advice for the daily life of Muggle and wizard alike!
You should
Just always guess 7, it's the magic number remember 😂
Also 13
Emma Kenyon actually 7 is considered a cursed (specifically "ghost") number in Chinese culture.
Danasaur 4 Life oh right 😱
I 'memba.
I got the staircase question correct! Before you answered! I'm a little proud of myself😄
Rhianna Allen it’s not hard it’s in the first book on the first page of the chapter the potion master

Order of the Phoenix is literally sitting next to me while I watch this video, and I'm literally like 3 chapters ahead of the part with educational decree number 27, and literally the second he asked that question, my brain immediately went to the number 27
I beat J finally! 25 out of 30... just finished rereading the series.
I like when you guys collaborate together. 👍🏼
I love watching Harry Potter videos from you guys! I only just recently saw the films for the first time ever, and this week I started reading the books and I'm currently halfway through Chamber of Secrets.
Levi Reeves I think chamber of secrets is the worst book so good luck
Did you really feel the need to reply with my positive comment with a negative one?
I am so annoyed with pottermor
GRYFFINDOR IS NEXT TO HUFFLEPUFF NOT RAVENCLAW
Goblet of fire ' He set off the gap between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables.'
HUFFLEPUFF!!!!!!
But in The Order of the Phoenix it is hinted/said that Ravenclaw is next to Gryffindor
When Cho was mad at Harry for w/e reason she sat at the Ravenclaw Table with her back showing at Harry
And in The Half-blood Prince when Harry was late to the feast at the beginning of the school year he had to run across the hall to get to his seat
And when he came across other houses he mentioned a few of them
Last was Cho from Ravenclaw which indicates that her table is next to his
I would have thought that you were right - it just makes more sense to me for the houses to be arranged in alphabetical order.
