LOL Countdown to Extinction was their Black Album. Then they release Youthanasia. I love that album but that was definitely a change of sound. Then you had Cryptic Writings, and Risk. You can’t tell me that’s not “selling out” he’ll even Anthrax sold out. But I still listened. Shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.
This album has some of Daves best thrash riffs period, and the best in this song. This album is their best 80's album, muscle in the sound, attitude, riffs.
drivendown84 Great album, but the original mix was terrible. When they reissued it, it was much more apparent how great & technical the riffs on the album really are.
I remember the first time I saw Megadeth, it was in the early 2000’s, when they had just gotten back together after Dave’s hand injury. They opened the show with this song. Of course, Dave went on stage last, while playing the opening riffs to this song. I remember then they put the spotlight on him while he was walking on stage, he was head banging so hard and playing so aggressively, that it literally looked like he was beating the shit out of the guitar... To this day it’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in my life. So fuckin metal.
Same experience but at the Warfield in SF. Intro riff of this song with the spot light and everything . They headlined with Exodus /featuring chuck billy on vocals. It was un fuckin real
+Svil Buscus yeah if I remember correctly, Dave wrote the song while riding on the Greyhound back to Cali when Metallica fired him. the band was supposed to instead be the name of this song.
+ninjastar666lol I've read interviews where Dave talks about being unhappy with the playing an production, but still AWESOME record. My 2nd favorite behind Peace Sells.
This is personally my all time favorite Megadeth song. Hate me if you will but it has my all time favorite guitar solo, which is Jeff Youngs solo near the end. It also has some amazing rhythm guitar riffs.
This song is a testament to the great songwriting ability of Dave. It's his riff monster. You can take basically every thrash band out there and this song will beat or match most of their catalogs. And this isn't even close to Holy Wars in terms of technicality or speed. I effing love it.
The hair, the t-shirt, the headbanging, the jeans, the bullet belt, the riffs, the solos, the vocals... Every single thing of Dave in this video is great.. The guy is an Icon of Thrash and Metal in general.. and this song is a masterpiece!!
This is some rare Megadeth because I sure the hell have NEVER HEARD OR SEEN THIS VERSION OF SET THE WORLD AFIRE! Thank you to whoever put this on You Tube!!!
wow this sounds so close to the cd its fucking insane! i wish i was alive back in those times =[ seeing megadeth play all there old shit would be so badass
The model is a custom King V and Jackson released signature model based on it back when Mustaine used them. If you search on Ebay for long enough you sure to find one, or if you're lucky one that he actually owned. Of course they come at a price.
Might be hard to imagine if Lars is still in the picture, but maybe we would have gotten an absoloutely amazing version of Metallica that would've been even better than Megadeth.
it is generally in "e minor" mustaine utilizes aeolian, phrygian and locrian modes and pentatonic-minor in the key of E and in one part modulates to Locrian mode in B.
@ThePunishmentDue1 they were stellar. I only got to see them once on the Carnage, because the full Canadian Carnage tour only came out to western Canada once, even though there was a 2nd Canadian Carnage tour that came back to eastern Canada 4 months later, with Testament as the opener, unlike Machine Head when I saw em. I just seen Megadeth on the 20th Anniversary RIP Tour, and man, it was the best Deth show I have been to in a longggg time. David came back better than ever imo.
He definitely got his revenge and it was pure and never sold out
Risk
He has sold out, but his sel-out material was still awesome

Selling out is selling cups and pants with your logo for example. Megadeth sold out as fuck to be honest but I love them anyway
May have sold out but damn all there songs are good
Wow despite the garbage quality. The drums still sound 10x better than the studio version
So do the vocals. In some parts, at least.
This album has some of Daves best thrash riffs period, and the best in this song.
This album is their best 80's album, muscle in the sound, attitude, riffs.
drivendown84 this album was my number 1# deth album,
Definitely is one of their best albums. Tight record.
Peace Sells with Killing a close second. Songs like Skull Beneath the Skin or My last words can't be denied.
drivendown84 Great album, but the original mix was terrible. When they reissued it, it was much more apparent how great & technical the riffs on the album really are.
drivendown84 Peace Sells id as good if not better than sfsgsw
This album allways gets pushed aside..but I really love this album..so underrated
Being stuck between peace sells and rust in peace is why this album gets looked over
@@kevinrodriguez9701 agreed
you can tell by the high pitch his voice reaches when he says morning sky, that he is high as fuck.
sillydillydokieo
nah,he is riding the lightning and in the pocket, not on the Nod

This proves how insanely talented Dave mustane is
What a fucking song. Lyrics riffs, solos, fills... Possibly their best tune.
And Their first
All album the best)
+Svil Buscus yeah if I remember correctly, Dave wrote the song while riding on the Greyhound back to Cali when Metallica fired him. the band was supposed to instead be the name of this song.
Tune like Nuclear Assault
TheyCallMeFilep i thought he wrote it when he was a kid but I could be mistaken
So many good songs on sfsgsw mary jane,502, liar, into the lungs of hell ,in my darkest hour , hook in mouth, favourite megadeth album by far
Mine too, always gets overlooked when discussions of Megadeth albums start. That riff is just monumental
I also love their cover of anarchy
+ninjastar666lol I've read interviews where Dave talks about being unhappy with the playing an production, but still AWESOME record. My 2nd favorite behind Peace Sells.
Filippo Aloisi nope
Filippo Aloisi Megadeth albums from 1985 to 1992 are better that United abominations
This is personally my all time favorite Megadeth song. Hate me if you will but it has my all time favorite guitar solo, which is Jeff Youngs solo near the end. It also has some amazing rhythm guitar riffs.
My fav, but I prefer when Dave is doing all the solos(And Jeff's)
Man, the last solo is perfect. Young was so much inspired back then.
That main guitar riff at 2:40 slays me every time. Just so killer. Epic.
Brent7777 FUCK you hacker😋😋😋
Don't worry, we are judging you, always will
epic song, epic album, epic band
the best megadeth song ever...fucking heavy!
Back when metal..TRULY WAS...metal. Such raw....rage..and focus. God I miss this era and I was too young to be at this concert. :(
2:40 in 1987 that was the best fucking riff i had ever heard in my life and prob still is.
Goosebumps every time I hear it.
80's sci-fi intro was epic
At 4:30 there's a quick edited clip from Wake UP Dead when he says "I've had too much to drink,"
They should start every concert with this song or last rites/loved to death that would kick ass
the best live version of this song
Don't hate me, but anyone else love jeff young?
Rob Full man Yeah he's great. I'd say it was a real pity he got kicked out... but we got Marty :^)
I like his solos a lot. My favourite is Poland but I think Jeff is quite underappreciated as well. He gets a bad rep by many people.
I like him too
One of the best songs from a really underrated MD albums!
That was incredible!! They kick ass!! I miss that stuff so much
This song is easily one of their best and the lead up part of the song gets u pumped for wats gonna happen next in the song.
This song is a testament to the great songwriting ability of Dave. It's his riff monster. You can take basically every thrash band out there and this song will beat or match most of their catalogs. And this isn't even close to Holy Wars in terms of technicality or speed. I effing love it.
jeff young is such a kickass guitarist and dave is a god
ONE OF THE BEST MEGADETH SONGS!!!
A nice little ditty for my funeral.
3:32 never knew Dave could sweep like a lord.
He was much more technically gifted then we originally thought

easily one of my favorite songs.
yea, it took me a while to get into but now its one of my favorites of theirs
The hair, the t-shirt, the headbanging, the jeans, the bullet belt, the riffs, the solos, the vocals... Every single thing of Dave in this video is great.. The guy is an Icon of Thrash and Metal in general.. and this song is a masterpiece!!
You gotta wonder how they ever got into those jeans. Well, 20 years ago I wore those myself and wonder how I got into them those days :)
Jeff Young kickin' ass
I saw Megadeth live in NY, the same year 1988. My favorite thrash band. Dave is total badass.

BRUTAL!!!
Epic.
OK.. That was badass!!!!!!!!!!!
megadeth is the greatest metal band, everything a metal band should be
and dave sounds so goood
simplemente me vuela la cabeza....
heavy riffs....they kicked ass!
Read the lyrics with the song cause Megadeth unlike most bands (especially in todays music) writes lyrics that make sense and are very effective.
Eye don't want to set the world on fire. Eye just want to start a fire in your hearts""
Temazo
HELL YEAH MAN!
Apocalypse Now Intro! Savage Cool!
The model is a custom King V and Jackson released signature model based on it back when Mustaine used them. If you search on Ebay for long enough you sure to find one, or if you're lucky one that he actually owned. Of course they come at a price.
Gotta love those shoes.
this is fucking awesome! thanks for uploading!
Megadeth 4 LIFE!
gran banda vamois megadeth
Thank God DAVID MUSTANG got kicked out of Metallica or we wouldn't have MEGADETH!!!!
Dave Mustaine***
+John Bensing That made me cringe so badly ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I dunno...kinda like "Mustang," LOL! It wouldn't be a bad knickname for him. :DD
Might be hard to imagine if Lars is still in the picture, but maybe we would have gotten an absoloutely amazing version of Metallica that would've been even better than Megadeth.
Are you high? Jeff hanneman was kicked out of cannibal corpse
me too!
Chuck was very fun live
-"...No one will be left to prove that humans existed..." Epic line.
I love the fucking intro to this concert !
the ending solo its great...jeff uses a exotic lick at the bigining of the solo *_*
love the beggining, great song and best thrash metal in the world, long live megadeth, Rattle your god damn head!
it is generally in "e minor" mustaine utilizes aeolian, phrygian and locrian modes and pentatonic-minor in the key of E and in one part modulates to Locrian mode in B.
love the old thrash look
Epic Headbangin in intro!!!
coool
They just played this the other day. :3
I hope they keep it in their set list, and add Into the Lungs of Hell. That would make a fantastic set list.
I was thirtenn when thisw came out and I still love it now, probably more than i did then. This is The Shit! people.
Dave is a fucking demon...he rules every single thrash metal band
so all this time is was actually "Megadeath - Set World Afire"
NO, It has always been spelled as " Megadeth."
dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/irony

@ThePunishmentDue1 they were stellar. I only got to see them once on the Carnage, because the full Canadian Carnage tour only came out to western Canada once, even though there was a 2nd Canadian Carnage tour that came back to eastern Canada 4 months later, with Testament as the opener, unlike Machine Head when I saw em. I just seen Megadeth on the 20th Anniversary RIP Tour, and man, it was the best Deth show I have been to in a longggg time. David came back better than ever imo.
