Please do not count macros or calories (unless you need to for specific health reasons). The measurements and macros in this video are just for your information and to show you that you can get protein on a vegan diet. Life is more than calculating macros, and after years of not doing it, adding it up for this video was exhausting haha. Eat what feels good for you and what makes you happy!

But where do you get your protein? I'm answering that question in today's recipe video! Each recipe is linked in the description so check it out! ALSO this video is not to tell you that you should be counting the amount of protein you're eating, or measuring anything out, this was purely done for your information to show how much protein you CAN get from plants. ALSO before I receive another comment about soy being too high in estrogen for men IT IS A MYTH! Soy has PHYTOestrogens which is different from estrogen and affects us differently (we aren’t plants). You should be more concerned with the actual estrogen in animal products, because manboobs are much more likely to be a result of overeating diary than soy. freefromharm.org/health-nutrition/vegan-doctor-addresses-soy-myths-and-misinformation/

Madeleine Olivia I told my doctor I’m vegan her reply was you should go on the Keto diet I said what is that she said you eat meat then asked where do you get your protein? Lol
Cheryl Nicol Interesting... just shrug it off and show her how you can thrive eating this way! It’s none of their business really!

So if you eat these 5 meals for a day you’re getting
-3,823 Calories
-173g Protein
-438g Carbohydrates
-159g Fat
It’s bulking season 💪🏽
So if you're vegan on a diet, you're not getting enough. nice to know.
@Aum Kaigziabiher You'd get around 120g of protein if you're eating 2700 kcal of this. Which might not be enough and would need help from a powder or something.
@Aum Kaigziabiher You're actually right, definitely more than what an average person is eating. And half of people who workout use protein powder anyways.
@Mariana D'Amelio Well, you don't need 170g of protein to be healthy.
@@NervylHraje don’t forget there’s many ways of getting protein on this diet. For example seitan has 370 calories and 70 grams of protein. You could also experiment with some Indian dal dishes and get some lean protein from that. A cup of urad dal for example is 24 grams of protein for 341 calories which isn’t bad. There’s all kinds of beans and legumes and good dishes to eat you really just have to look into it to see a lot of them. I wouldn’t say it’s hard at all to lose weight as a vegan while keeping your health since it’s literally just calories in calories out and the vegan options typically have more nutrients on average besides b12 which would have to be supplemented or eaten in a fortified food.
Love this!! Finally a vegan UA-camr who eats healthy and isn't worried about fat 😊 instant sub
She is eating everything healthy
You can find something bad health wise in pretty much any food. What's left to eat then???
That myth was designed to rob us of our health fat benefits mens testosterone a lot
Spaide man I’m sorry but phytoestrogens aren’t uptaken in the way animal based ones are. Tofu actually decreases a woman’s risk of breast cancer. Dairy or cheese products cause cancer however, both through the hormones naturally produced and artificially given to the cows and through a fermentation process to coagulate the cheese. Tofu can be made instantly, using fresh soy milk and gypsum, neither of which has been noted to cause any ill side effects.
@@MsButtercup3000 there are tons of doctors in youtube talking about soya bean phytoestrogen linked to breast cancer, maybe you are interested.
Thank you for making these recipes HIGHER CALORIES meals as well as high protein as well. Many of these vegan videos/recipes are so petite and low in calories that I starve to death. 😂For someone who has high metabolism, I need this---- especially for a vegan diet. For the people that are complaining, just make adjustments, or move to another source that suits your tastes. The recipes look delicious, thank you.
@Barbora Litvanová I do not count calories, I go by what my body calls for and obey it. And, what do you know about what my body needs? Who says I eat this way, everyday for that fact? What does it matter to you about what I can and cannot handle? I am not obese nor overweight; I am fit and have a petite frame, and I am quite healthy..... so what else is there to say? I am sorry that you are taking this seriously.
Yes yes yes!! I am underweight and trying to gain weight on a whole food diet and when looking for food ideas, have been overwhelmed by the amount of what I eat in a days that are all fruit smoothies and salad bowls... Sorry, my metabolism won't do that :))
RELATABLE I’m a vegan UA-camr as well 🌱 and I have lots of high protein and appropriate calorie recipes coming soon! And a few on my channel rn ☺️💚
@Barbora Litvanová You're dumb as hell. I could perform vigorous exercise for 40 minutes (hint hint Jeff cavaliere) and then remain fairly sedentary besides going out outside for various purposes of life and still need a shit ton of calories. And for the record, you don't need to worry about eating too much as a whole foods vegan (even if you are petite). There's a reason you don't see fat people on wfv.
@@zackisherep9246 Its extremly easy to gain weight/be obesed/fat whatever on a whole foods vegan diet. Just eat in a surplus. Had several clients when i was a personal trainier that were on a wfv and still overweight. Its not hard at all.

Hello! Just to point out animals get protein from plants because they naturally have a different kind of intestinal flora (bacteria) and ruminate particularly have also anatomical differences (4 stomachs) that allow them to get more nutrients from plans: humans cannot do that. There is still plenty of plant protein that can be used and digested by humans; just your argument with the animals (herbivores) had a bit of a flaw... thanks for your videos!!!
We're not trying to get as big as a cow or a gorilla though. So, not flawed.
Only ruminants ruminate (cows, sheep, goats etc), other herbivores are just like us
Why do people compare us to other animals? If thats the case then we can all eat grass, bananas, leafs and make gains? 😉
Fine let's look at our closest genetic relatives ,primates and see how swole they are.
LoveLife with Chris because humans are animals too?
When you said don’t measure your food, eat what makes you feel good I subscribed 😁🌼
So wonderful how you advocate against disordered eating! We need more influencers like you luv
I’m guessing in real life these would be two portion meals since they add up to 3823 calories which is a lot for most people. Even cut in half that’s 86g of protein which is pretty good.
That's double the daily protein I need for my size tbh lmao
If you cut out some of the fat and carbs ie eat less bread and avocado etc you can bring the calorie count down considerably if that's what you're worried about. Eg just take out the oats recipe, or in the chilli add more soy protein and less beans for higher protein and lower carbs. For the sandwich, make it a tofu salad without the bread and add more low calorie veggies, or add less avocado to eat meal. Small cuts will add up very quickly.
@@shahissbb yeah I agree you could modify or cut the potions down. I didn’t want people who aren’t trying to gain weight to copy the meals blindly.
And when I saw her make two sandwiches I had a feeling she was adding up two servings worth of protein.
I made the tofu from the TLT sandwiches and it was so freaking good. My husband, who is still learning to like tofu, actually loved it, the flavours were awesome!

I NEED ALL THE CALORIES!!! gimmie gimmie gimmie 😋 lol
@Shadow there really aren't.
I'm so glad and thankful that you are spreading a message of eating healthily and not counting calories/being on a diet. So many youtubers chat so much shit about diets, keto diets, low carb diets, whatever diets, that they have no idea about!! Healthy, moderate diet is really the only good diet that you can have that won't mess with your mind. I hate that craze around protein and excersing only to look good, while hating it :C Do what feels good people!
I love this! Great way to educate people on how to pair their foods together to get adequate amount of protein. I know when I first started becoming switching over to a plant based diet I had a hard time figuring this out and still maintaining an active lifestyle. Also, love the end scene! I cannot cook without good tunes and some dancing.
Hi from Poland! I just wanna say that I love your energy and positivity. I really like that you use that "happy" music in your videos! In every vegan video that I watched is the same music, I felt like I was watching the same thing on different channels 💁You are original I this is why I will stay with you for longer than 9 minutes! Notifications on 💕
The problem is total calories at the end, if you want to cut/loose weight and consum 173g of protein(to maintain your muscle mass with weight training) with these 5 recipes you are way above your maintance calories. Bulking on a vegan diet is no problem, cuting, meehh. But if you don't care about muscle mass, weight training, of course you don't bother .
A good way to bulking is to add plant based protein powder much like you do with whey protein it helps you get the protein without the calories ect
@@michaelshoop4212 if you're bulking, then you'd want the extra calories.
Thank you. I searched for "Vegan summer meals" and this hit the nail on the head. Respect from Australia 🇦🇺
Every time I make a fancy bowl my husband goes and mashes it all together too 😋 great recipes! Will be making these
Haha Alex does it every time!!
Man it can't be simpler than that. Delicious and packed with body feeling goodness. I noticed my body and mind feels way better on this high protein plant based meals. Am not vegan but i stay away from red meats, but girl.....lentils and avocados with some quinoa is the bang.
Not only do the dishes that you're making look absolutely delicious, I love the music as well. I downloaded them to my Playlist on my phone, thank you!
I'm not vegan and I do count my macros and calories for health reasons but I still love your recipes so much!
Same. I look at vegi/vegan meals because it’s a great way to add in other nutrition
its only impossible to jnow exactly how much calories are in something, they're all rough estimations
Thank you so much for this! I'm vegan, but I'm also a bariatric patient with chronic anemia Crohn's Disease, and I'm supposed to eat a TON of protein a day, because I no longer absorb it properly. My nutritionist flat told me that I can't eat enough to get the 80g of protein (and my iron) I'm supposed to consume (with the goal to actually absorb at least 45) without meat. I plan to make her watch this video! YOU HAVE SAVED ME. Thank you!!!
These recipes look absolutely delicious! My husband and I have recently started to talk about going vegan (or at least plant-based-not the most common way of eating in mid-west USA) with our diet. Can't wait to try these recipes out! Thanks a bunch!
chocolate porridge with frozen raspberries is my absolute FAVOURITE! Its like dessert for breakfast! xx
Aaaand you're creating complete proteins! One of the first things my mom made me do when I came home from university and told her I was vegetarian was to go to a dietitian. The biggest thing I learned is food pairing to create complete proteins.
I am NOT vegan, but I support veganism all the way! The recipes looks so delicious 🤤 in fact, I’m going to meal prep these recipes for 5 days and make a video about it on my channel! I’m so excited to try your recipes out ❤️
The 'Chili con Protein' looks delicious! Using lentils and soya mince together is a great idea for more protein.🙂
I made the first sandwich for my 4 and 6 year old and they are def kid approved 👍 so excited to try all the other ones!

It is child abuse to raise kids vegan.

Sooo many AMAZING recipes!! I never have trouble getting enough protein! It’s a lot easier than it’s made out to be 😊
When he changed "mayo-naise!" That was so cute lol
I love a lot of the points you made in your intro, especially about not micro-managing every aspect of your nutrition. Problem is, the way I’m used to eating is not leading to health, or a high quality of life. I’m trying to improve my diet and lose A LOT of weight, without adding more meat (I do not follow a plant-based diet, but am hoping to incorporate more plant-focused meals.) I know this can be done, my aunt is totally plant-based and has lost excess weight (she was much smaller than me to begin with) and has improved her cholesterol a great deal. I haven’t talked to her personally about what she eats, everything I know I’ve gotten secondhand. But my point is, in my efforts to make improvements, I’m finding that I have very little energy, strength, and recoverability from life’s little setbacks. I know I’m eating plenty of food, and I’m eating more variety than ever. But I’m struggling. I’m hungry a lot, but have little desire to eat MORE food, so I’ve been wondering about protein. Am I getting enough to support my body and help with satiety and weight loss?
I will keep these recipes in mind, but it’s difficult coming from a standard American diet to lots of tofu and legumes. Tofu is almost completely foreign to me. I’ve tasted bits here and there, and not been a huge fan. Never prepared it myself. Beans….I just don’t love them. But I’m trying. I want change. But maybe this will give you a little insight into why some people question how you can get enough protein. It can definitely be done, it’s all just a little foreign.
Have you spoken with a nutritionist? It can be really worthwhile to go through your own personal setbacks and struggles and get a personalised food plan. Protein may be the issue here. Having a high protein goal each day can really help with satiety. Things like protein powder (I use form nutrition), protein bars, and lots of tofu will really help to keep you full and the calories low. Hope this helps!
Mmm great recipes!
Soya mince has a tendency to go mushy though so I would recommend frying that off first with the onions and veg rather than adding it later if you don’t like the mushy texture like me z
Would love to see a soy-free version of this video! I try to stay away from soy, but am always looking for high-protein meals. Love your meal videos!
@Eric Webber my doctor says soy is great for getting protein without a lot of fat. All the tofu and stuff in my supermarkets comes from my country (switzerland) or the neighbour countries and is certified organic and non gmo
It's good for women but very bad for man because of the estrogen hormones
I'm allergic so me too🤣
Light Yagami no, it's not. Don't lie.
Light Yagami Light Yagami that is completely inaccurate. The chemical make up that looks similar to estrogen that is found in soy but it is not estrogen it actually has the OPPOSITE effect and does not let estrogen take effect when it is consumed. Common misconception but you are WRONG.
You are such a gorgeous person Madeleine. Thank you for showing people that protein can be found in a variety of products, not only in meat :)
Good point about the protein, Madeleine Olivia! When people eat the protein from the animals, they are actually getting protein mixed with fat
Yum ! Looks so good !!! Had a heart attack at the calorie numbers but I’m still in recovery so that’s probably why !
I make such amazing rice now with your tips Thanks Darling ! ❤️
Don’t be afraid of calories they fuel us 💪 And these are portions I would eat 😊
I’ve got to send you a letter or something.
You’ve been such a huge part of my recovery. Porridge was a fear food for me until Monday :) now I have mango oatmeal for breakfast ever day and when I feel guilty I watch your “ what I ate today videos “ and I feel better. Brittany Best blessings to you as you recover. Sounds like you are doing so well.
Also for everyone complaining that the meals are 'so high in calories' - smaller portions. You can make any meal 'high carb' or whatever just by increasing the quantity but these are all meals that are higher PERCENTAGE protein
a salad with almost 1000 kkal OMG
Lift heavy!
Aleksandra Opochenska Hell yeah that's the stuff right there
Maybe that's per all bowl...
Maybe because the bowl is heavy .
I would probably make about half the portion for myself. The portion she made was for Alex whom is a grown man.
I have an organic pasta that has 44g of protein per 60g of pasta, being vegetarian actually benefited me in so many ways
I've always hated oatmeal, but this recipe is amazing! It made my kitchen smell like chocolate peanut butter cookies and it was so filling! Thanks for the recipe! :)
I've made all the recipes except for the last one, all have been delicious! I was surprised by how good the salad was (didn't expect that) and the sauces for the tofu dishes are beyond delicious (good sauces to have in your arsenal whether you use them for these recipes or not). Great recipes, great video, great vibes, thanks Maddie❤️
I love that these are high fat in addition to being high protein! I absolutely loveee including tons of fats in all of my meals :) it makes me feel the best. Thank you for this video!!
All of these recipes are just fantastic. She makes the prep look so easy and manageable, have needed to get more protein in my vegan diet for a while, barely hitting 100g a day ATM. I need upwards of 150!
Sure they have a lot of protein but they are highly caloric, almost 1000 calories for a salad or an oatmeal bowl.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Some people need to eat higher calories because they exercise more and therefore need protein to build muscle mass and energy to get through their workout and either bulk or cut.
Well just reduce the most oil-rich ingredients & some of the starchy ingredients & then it will be fine. They were big bowls, you dont need to use such big bowls, unless you are practising for a marathon or something.
That's a good point, Paula. I think for some people who are watching their calorie intake, they need to consider protein as a percentage of calories. For example, Peanuts are only 18% protein as a percentage of calories whereas lentils are 31% and extra firm tofu is 48%. ua-cam.com/video/jBS3hYQdw0k/v-deo.html
Just make a smaller portion

I have been a vegan for years now and just now getting into fitness. I have been tracking macros and found out i have been OVEREATING on protein! Seriously, i couldn't fit my shake into my macros today 😂
Really? How? I guess if you drinki a lot of protein powder, otherwise I find it very hard to reach my goals on a vegan diet without eating too many carbs

To the people complaining about calories remember her significant other is behind the camera. Probably both eating. Also if you are intermittent fasting your eating all your calories in a single meal or 2 so relax guys
Love this... I am slowly transitioning to vegetarian and hopefully vegan soon
I am 55. Being vegan over a year now. Lost over 13 kg. My blood pressure, cholesterol is better than ever. B12 and othe microelements are perfect. There is no option I could eat meat again. People who say these meals are too rich as far as callories are concerned are wrong. You do not have to eat almost 200 grams of protein a day. 1 gram per kilo of your weight is enough for us. And if you are a body builder and need so much proteins, 3000 callories a day are perfect if your training is intense. So be reasonable, eat healthy and stay away from meat ;)
These meals actually look really good. Gonna give them a try.
Alex cracks me up all the time!Chandler-Monica vibes!💖
These are beautiful. But some people cannot have soy. So, there must be other ways. One thing is food combining. For instance beans and rice is a complete protein.
Yes, I don't eat a lot of soy because it is not good for the thyroids. A fact that is not well known, sadly. (Fermented soy like soy sauce is ok). Beans with potatos are a good combination too.
I can't have soy lmao. Learnt the hard way after swapping to soy milk for the first time I proper couldn't walk the stomach pain was so bad
I really love your videos because you season/flavor your food with common household items. like some of these videos on UA-cam use random stuff that's really hard to find in the store and you're over here with Sriracha, ketchup, BBQ sauce and mayo. I really like that.
Out here tryin’ to make veganism more available and easy! Plus this is how I like to cook! Keepin’ it simple!
Madeleine Olivia much love to you guys. Very inspired RN 😭❤
Haha, loved the '' Voilà mon sandwich'' 😁
I am not vegan but I like hemp protein both in the whole form and also as 70% concentrated protein powder. Pumpkin seed is another healthy protein choice and has complete profile of essential amino acids.
Lentils are also fine if they agree with you. Make sure to soak them in water and sea/himalayan salt 12-24 hours.
My chest got tight when I saw the ketchup and My heart was so relieved when you were out lol
HAHHA i was looking for someone to make this comment. Literally my EXACT thoughts! I was like thank god when she was like OOPS were out😂😂
Same lol I love ketchup but on a sandwich....no!!
I put ketchup literally on everything , I just can’t live without it xD
I am new to your channel and really love it. I know this is not a super new video, but I wanted to say that I really loved your simple way of saying that some of the biggest animals on Earth are plant eaters. It's such an easy analogy to use when explaining to someone who is questioning your veganism or vegetarianism. It just really resonates with me and is something I will probably use in my everyday life when people question my nutrition LOL.
I love this!!! I’ve been vegan for a little over two years and oh boy have I heard the protein questions 😂...
The one and only thing I like about vegetarianism is the idea to eat more plant-based foods and the whole preparation process. In order to get all the nutrients you need to plan carefully your meals. Good balance of proteins, carbs and fats. Meat eaters don't have this problem.
These are amazingggg especially for someone on a weight gain journey!
Thank you for this video. I am a meat eater but I am trying to increase the amount of vegan food I eat because it is better for the planet. My hubby is a keen gym goer and trying to convince him to eat more plant based foods is difficult but I feel he would be convinced with your video! Thank you! Xx
Broccoli has a bit of protein but to get 20g of protein, you need to eat a whopping 500g of steamed broccoli. That's over 8 servings of broccoli!!
Don’t doubt my broccoli consumption.
why would one only have 63g of broccoli??
@@sillysiblingstuff9615 haha same here
lol, I can easily eat 500g of steamed broccoli and I would still be hungry, and I could eat tofu and rice after it
I’m guessing you wouldn’t use broccoli as your main source of protein, it’s just getting a little bit extra if you have broccoli as a side with something else.
First, loce the flow / speed of this video. Second, I wish I saw this 15 minutes ago, I boiled hot water and then added to oats w peanut butter and blueberries. Shoulda cocoa it up. And finally, in synchronicity this video gave me a salad idea, white beans and lentils for protien ty

Hi Madeline,
Thank you so much for sharing these recipes! I feel like I don't always have a balanced diet because I eat the same foods over and over, and I am constantly neglecting my protein intake, so I really appreciate a variety of foods to be considering when thinking about what to add to my pantry. I have to count my calories otherwise I get busy and forget to eat enough and don't notice until I'm getting headaches and underweight, so I appreciate you putting that in there, too.
Thanks again for sharing!💕💕
Looks yummy but the carbs on one meal are excruciatingly high!

Late response but stuff with tofu, hemp seeds, and nuts are generally lower carbs but higher in protein and fatsb
Also late response lol look into plant based protien powders. Make sure you carefully read ingredients but they are almost always high in fiber reducing net carbs to anywhere from 3g to 12g depending on the shake.
this is pure love and positivity thank you

That porridge was HOW many calories!?!?

Lift heavy, eat more, enjoy your life ;)
people who follow a plant based diet tend to usually eat more to feel full, but they actually lose a bunch of weight in the proccess. not sure how it works, but animal products contain a lot of fat whereas clean carbs and veggies dont, altho u eat more of them.
A couple of tips relating to this video:
Worcestershire generally contains Anchovies.
Chia seeds contain a lot of energy, and not as much protein as they are made out to have. If your diet has enough Iron and fat from other sources, you could skip these and lower your calory count fairly easily without affecting protein too much.
I always cut my banana in the skin too lol 😂 love all these recipes ur so inspiring 💗💗💗
are you vegan ?
Love this!! IThis is the quickest way to failure and giving up, but does not have to happen with the proper guidance
7:38 I thought I was the only one that eats like that 😂
Carnation0114 😂😂😂
I am 290 and bad eating habits...i will try to be vegan and thx for helping thus looks like something i can eat everyday
120g carbs for the oatmeal is WAY too much. I used to train like a bikini bodybuilder and my personal DAILY carb amount was 130g. They look like great meals that I will use as a foundation but I’ll definitely be making some adjustments.
Also, what are you thoughts on this and have you researched it:
"Animal protein sources, such as meat, fish, poultry, eggs and dairy, are similar to the protein found in your body.
These are considered to be complete sources of protein because they contain all of the essential amino acids that your body needs to function effectively.
On the contrary, plant protein sources, such as beans, lentils and nuts are considered to be incomplete, as they lack one or more of the essential amino acids that your body needs (1).
Some sources report soy protein as complete. However, two essential amino acids are only found in small amounts in soy, so it isn't comparable to animal protein (2)."
